  1. Ha! I'll make time Won't miss it for the world! I'll probably take several weeks to settle in, so somewhere in June, you come over ok? You owe me a drink at your cozy nook and I'm waiting to collect -Ely
  2. I saw pics (keke), they look really pretty - soft and feminine and goes nicely with the violet walls! What's wrong with the curtains? -Ely
  3. Love how your 3Ds are in tuned with your reno progress! It's not often you get what you see in glossy pictures. Really great progress there! Your TV feature wall looks fantastic! -Ely
  4. DAY 74 Final electrical work to be done Monday. Curtain/blinds tracks to be installed Monday/Tuesday, granite tops to be installed on Wednesday (as Deh Power wasn't quite adequate~) and the plumber to arrive on Tuesday, with a scheduled acid wash on Friday. Which means we get to move in next weekend!! *gasp* Will most likely be cleaning like full-time janitors on Friday AND Saturday AND Sunday, with Saturday being the proposed move-in date. Yes, we have a date! Not sure if being overly-optimistic as none of the wardrobe doors, shower screens, balcony glass, glass doors are up. The weekend will definitely be a tiring one - with packing and moving and unpacking and cleaning. This weekend and the following week will see last-minute errands - more trips to Ikea, getting some finishing touches, household stuff. Juat bought that ludicrous spin mop from Isetan as couldn't bear to splurge on the Leifheit - bought that one for my mother instead as maid has ran away and poor Mom is cleaning the entire house. Had a taste of it when parents went away for a holiday, leaving me with the house and the mini-zoo, and, trust me, it wasn't easy. I'm sooo glad to be living in an apartment! Wallpaper to be installed next week, as only selected them yesterday. They're cheaper than quotations I was given (almost half the price - same for my curtains/blinds), so will definitely update how the workmanship goes. I picked them within minutes so hopefully, they go according to my visualisations. Engaged a Malaysian guy to do my curtains/blinds and he's quick and prompt and from work he has done at parents-in-law' place, it looks fantastic. Great quality material - all black out with good pulley and track systems, thousands of designs at the same price. Can't wait to see the finished product. Floor lamps: Yes, the Shopping Queen strikes again. -Ely
  5. Really nice reno! Really cozy and modern-resort! Love your dining table lights! <3 - Ely
  6. Counting down to May 21! Hope you're settling in well, and not getting too stressed with unpacking etc. Take your time, have a beer at your cozy nook, and leave us waiting in anticipation for SuperSimon's pics - don't get too stressed about looking for cam charger etc - RELAX in your new home that's all yours. <3 Ely
  7. Ooh, congrats! Is it a boy/girl? Any pictures of upcoming nursery? I've got Tron too, and can't wait to watch it on the new system! Just reformatted a laptop with Winamp Pro just to use it with the tube amp in the bedroom. Will be our browsing/music laptop Somehow, the music sounds much better played from the computer than directly from the iPod. I love ordering from Amazon direct - their shipping is super quick (save for my "Come with me Kitty" harness which has yet to arrive...but that comes from an outside vendor). Few more weeks before movie night, RB! -Ely
  8. I have the exact same dilemma. Want to know more about how to improve certain areas, but am so afraid of what I'll learn. Sis Mae, perhaps I can email you my floorplan and, you take a general look at it? Don't need too many specifics, just areas to improve on? I'm sorry if you're bogged down by everyone's requests too! -Ely

LOL, reminded me of my Delivery Day, also 12hrs! Super tired at the end of it. Still need to move the furniture around when they're doing the parquet re-varnishing and cleaning etc. Sigh. Perhaps you can hook the vanity to the wall, like some people do to their bedheads and shoe cabinets? Your carpenter should be able to do for you. For me, it's the plumber who would be helping with all the misc. work, like drilling all the holes for my paintings etc so he even aligns all my art nicely, and all my cabinet hardware (pull knobs, handles etc). The carpenter will help with Ikea shelves I want put up - he'll just slot them in and even saw off excess length. -Ely

Yours is definitely the longest! Mine is only 6ft, and it's narrow - since wedged between wet kitchen and weird beam. Would have hacked that partition but don't know what to do with such a big kitchen either, so decided to keep it as a yard/laundry and wet kitchen. From my pics, you can tell mine is much smaller than yours - yours can fit a dining table and prep area! Mine only holds cabinets and the wine chiller. P.S. Very, very nice progress Lady R! Seems like we may be moving in around the same time? Can't do anything about the plumber since it's the granite tops and carpentry that are causing the delay. Without the tops, cannot install the sinks and taps, and didn't want to do WCs first as the workers might use it. I tried to Deh the granite top guy but it didn't work!! I seriously need that course. I Deh-ed for like 5 minutes and my homely charms had no effect :/ - Ely
  11. WTH? I feel so cheated of SEVERAL lovely lunches and nightly strolls... - Ely
  12. DAY 71 I'm STILL choosing laminates after being told the stuff we'd chosen are out of stock, then the 2nd choice picked is also out of stock. Back to drawing board and looking at sample books. How is this happening?! AHHHH!! Already Day 71... sigh. Am told will be able to move next weekend. TV console can only commence next week, as well as all the granite tops, then plumbing, so we'll see. Definitely not packing my bags yet. -Ely
  13. Did a check online and they're out-of-this-world crazy expensive. Can't wait to use them to eat instant noodles ha! - Ely
  14. Got a lovely gift from my sister-in-law. Gorgeous set of chopsticks from Shanghai Tang: Love them! <3 - Ely
  15. Ahhh! Popiah parties very tedious to prepare - a lot of work (will take the whole day to prepare all the different fillings) Maybe better to do potluck? - Ely

It really does seem like I'm the slowest of the lot. I'm on Day 71 and my plumbling isn't done yet??! We're supposed to move in end of this week but I don't think it's going to happen. Probably next week...hopefully. - Ely
  17. Mae, you're so funny! What do you use to chop stuff then?? - Ely
  18. Seems like I made a mistake. It was bought some time ago so I simply thought it was a WMF. Had to go through the bags to find it, and it's actually the Zwilling Henckels Professional S block. Got it from Tangs for about $350? Can't remember exactly. Doesn't come with scissors, so got a Sola Swiss one for the block. The block, however, is square instead of as depicted: This one retails for £400.00 at the online store, but am fairly certain I didn't pay that much for it! - Ely
  19. Love love love your kitchen island - it's huge! Now so envious because it makes mine look so puny. Maybe I shouldn't have seperate wet/dry kitchens, then I could have accomodated a larger island. :/ Well too late for that now - I was also thinking how to cool the whole house if I hack that wall too. Currently using a 30k bku single for the living room alone, so it can cool the dry kitchen as well. Thanks for posting pics albeit being so busy with moving. I know it's only because everyone is so eagerly awaiting for them P.S. How can that massive WIW be too small?? OMG. - Ely

Wow, really nice progress Lady R! It looks so spacious and clean! Love the combination of all the tiles. And the cove light at the stairs is a real stand-out! Seems like your reno is going very smoothly - congrats! Can't wait to see more pics! - Ely
  21. Ooh, those look really good. Should have heard about this earlier - they look fantastic! - Ely
  22. Ooh, same knives Yep, cheaper knifeset for the dry kitchen - purely for looks haha! Only about S$50, and it feels extremely light compared to the >$400 WMF set. Thought it would be a hassle to go back and forth from the dry/wet kitchen to get knives, so got the handy ceramic Kyocera one for light use. My study nook and feature wall is being worked on today, and downlights being rectified. - Ely
  23. And more for the kitchen: Dry kitchen knifeset - CS Kochsysteme too Kycoera ceramic knife: Bodum Chambord 12-cup: -Ely
  24. Well, I was so inspired by your Powers of Deh that I decided to try it during a heated discussion between the carpenter and the ID about my sinks. I stepped in, pouted a bit, said I bought that sink specifically for the dry kitchen "oh noes, now cannot use? oh noes I'm sad" drama and they came up with an idea to fix it. Deh Power ftw! - Ely
