I had told him exactly the good things about Singapore when he asked who I will cast my vote for. He retorted that we are a small country, given any leaders they too can run well, especially they are paid world best salary! That's why he popped me the above question! However, what the younger generations think is not wrong too - he asked me 'after pay & pay', when I'm old & aged, what the 'gahmen' do? ...dun talk about the children ...if I have no money to stay in old folks home? Like you said, younger generations are mostly "takers" lor. So, let them think the pastures overseas are always greener than homeland!

My 18 yr-old son also asked me to switch channel! I shouldn't have this post in my reno blog, should have started it here for discussion instead! http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=628719

Bro bepgof I appreciate your comments, very well said! Younger Generations lifestyles and consumption patterns are gradually shaping our society. Even 'gahmen' now is giving the Younger Generations the chance to create a better future (?) My dear 18 years old son asked me this question recently: "Mum, when you employed maid, you paid levy to the gahmen. You earn money, you pay tax. You get more bonuses, you paid even more taxes. All these years, you pay and pay to gahmen, what have they given you?" Looking at his eyes, I am stunned because I have no answers for him!

With GE around the corners, there are many emails flying around on this topic. I usually don't forward emails except for interesting and meaningful ones...like this one received today. The topic is about Life in Singapore with some stories telling and one carton graphic titled " MM Lxx Introducing New Best Seller - Hard Truths to Keep Singapore Going Going, Gone..." The Hard Truths are: • Hard to find a job. • Hard to start a family. • Hard to buy a house or HDB. • Hard to buy a car. • Hard to be happy with the ever rising costs of living. • Hard to save for retirement. • Hard to get health care. • Hard to believe that Singapore is the happiest and safest place on earth. • Hard to convince the authority that public transportation is overcrowded. The list goes on and on and on ………….. As a mother with 3 sons, I do agree with the above hard facts to a large extend!

When visitors come to my place, they cannot look at the time to go back because there is NO wall clocks Even I have bought 2 designs (including this one) online and delivered, but I have yet to install them because there is no 'decent' wall for me to hang them One side of the wall already has the wallpaper, the wall at dining area has a big Luo Pan, then one wall has opening for windows Left with the wall behind sofa but I am thinking of hanging a big picture frame. As the movement of clock hands is 'noisy' type, I can't stand the 'tick tick' and it is therefore not suitable for bedrooms. I am a light sleeper and can only fall asleep without sound and NO lights!! ....so, anything I don't like, I won't give to children too, .....hmmmmm.......this clock may end up in the kitchen

Sharing my Rain Shower..... We are using gas water heater and so far no problem with the supply of hot water to 2 toilets, even at times we were using at the same time. Here is my rain shower at the common bathroom. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?s=...st&p=624636 Things to look out for: 1. If you look closely at our rain shower, it has 'flat' top. Don't buy those with angle bent type which will affect the height if yours is restricted by beams or low ceilings. 2. When installing the rain shower, do consider your height and the preferred 'rain drop' effect. My children are very tall, hence, when the plumber came, we insisted that he raised the height 2 inches higher than normal installation. I hope you get what I mean.

Sis Marshy ....and you saw this picture frame of the Vanishing Trades of Singapore with the Uncirculated Coins and Stamps Fyi, this frame was hung up on the wall just days before your visit I initally kept it inside the box in the store room, then I took it out & place on top of the fridge. Later, I find it quite wasteful because got $$$ wor, then I decided to hung it on the wall!

I think I have peeped at most blogs including yours sometimes in September before I registered my account when my reno was about to start. Thereafter, I was overhelmed with keeping my reno blog "live" with daily updates following my rigourous inspections on quality & workmanship, and sharing my knowledge on feng shui blog. Now, with my extreme makeover successfully completed, I like to share my experience & therefore started to 'kaypo' at other blogs Now, we are friends right? Your avatar is so cute .... this shows you are not the boring type!

I have PM you my contact and do call or sms me when you are back to parents place. That fishball mee stall used to sell a plate at $1.50 when I just moved in to my place in 1999. Now, it is selling at $2 / plate, still the cheapest as compared to the $2.50 for Wanton noodle. My blum runners is working well....only 2-months old wor....cannot have problem otherwise my ID will get another round of hardtime from me Actually, the carpentry workmanship is quite good! Anyway, we seldom open the drawers.....all just for 'show' only....hahahaha

Your baking skill is The pantry area I am happy that I have a classified area now. When I relocated the sink, I can only think of turning that area into 'mini garden' where I can place the wooden bench which I can't bear to throw away (only this bench & few IKEA stuffs which you saw in my house which I recycle). Now, I spend my time reading books in that corner as it is very windy & have good views (unlike the converted tiny living room)..... . Then, you spotted the legs of our dining chairs wearing 'socks'..... The corners of the chair legs are quite sharp and have to prevent it hurting the 'human' legs and scratching the floors
