  1. I guess lessons can be drawn from this billy the vampire vs volvo joel chapter. Volvo Joel has defended against the accusations pretty well, and Billy the vampire should really move on with his work, schooling, and family-care.
  2. Oh Please who cares what you think. You are such a nauseating creature. For the one and the half month that you are in this forum, you have done nothing else but sneaking into other people's thread to shamelessly peddle your made-in-china bamboo flooring like it's the 8th natural wonder of the world. Now you are here taking a cheap shot at exploiting a situation with a half-witted idea that you can gain mileage for your bamboo-ware. You think that people here are not wise to your antics? Get a reality check man!
  3. Tana0005, it's the humidity here which makes the floor expand more than the temperate countries. Also, it's not consistant as it depends on the environment, eg. if there's an air-con on part of the time, which is an excellent dehumidifier.
  4. Actually it doesn't make sense for this Kelvin guy to cheat people off their flooring deposits which amount to only a few hundred dollars in each of the cases reported here. At most, they goes to paying for the exhibition cost, and is not going to make him rich. Is it possible that he is one of those rogue operator of renovation loan scams?
  5. Ok this is what I found out from someone in the woodworking line. According to him, proper abs edging to panels requires the use of "edgebanding machine" which apply hot-melt glue and at the same time trim the abs edging to fit the thickness of the panel. In your case, there is the possibility that the edging was done manually with the standard glue, which should explain the excessive glue and the rounded edge. Maybe this is the information you seek.
  6. It doesn't looks like ABS edging from the photo. There should be a subtle bevel at the edge, and not protruding out.
  7. Hi Jay It's was really a budget decision for me too, but at the end I just couldn't resist after viewing a "before and after" home which had the more expensive floor installed. Maybe you should do that before you decides.
  8. Lol Yes, witnessed my neighbour gone hysterical over her Chinese laminate floor. Mine is not installed yet, but saw that you are quite happy with yours in the krono-o thread.
  9. Talented and Arrogant; same same as our government
  10. That is bollicks as the British say it Don't worry. I've seen ten years old laminate floors looking the better for wear than even tile and marble. On the other hand, I do aggree that the Chinese stuff are horrible.
  11. acevin, the reply I got from the krono-o guy was that water seepages can happen at two places: at the floor edges; which are covered by the wall skirtings or trims, and the floor joints. If you are willing to pay for the additional cost, the floor edges near the windows can be protected with a type of expandable sealant, and their floor joints already come with the clickguard sealant. Btw, scare = emotion, and I never thought of laminate floor as being emotional
  12. You are welcome and personally I do not care for China-made laminate floorings, even if they are not bug-infested aka Floorrich
  13. Hi acevin, really encouraged by what you wrote, and like you, I am debating on the kronostep because of budget. Maybe I will just do my living and dining room first, and the bedrooms another time.
  14. Hi, I have a very long stretch of windows and really don't have the budget for it. Maybe next year.
  15. I saw it at the fair, but dunno if it's the same one. It is framed at the top and bottom, but not at the vertical sides. Luv it! except for the price which was quoted as $600 psm The cord for pulling the catch looks a mite flimsy though.
  16. Hi. I was quoted $5.50 for kronostep at the home furnishing fair last weekend. Also, they have the certificate of origin as Germany, and the stamp behind each plank stating -made in germany - and the date of manufacture as well. The threadstarter did mentioned that the products in China and Russia are different, so be careful if you are planning to buy them there.
  17. Thank you. I was shopping for flooring and came across this company on Sunday. The brand is Porzia I think.
  18. It can be done, but very very expensive! The carpenters cannot do it themselves, and will need to send the pieces for glueing to specialize workshops.
  19. That's adventurous Painting is ok, but having seen a friend putting together an Ikea kitchen before, I must warn you that it isn't as easy as they said. Tiling works are better left for the professionals, maybe linoleum, vinyl, or laminate are better suited for diy. My 2cents, cheers
