  1. hi luiz78, my 2 cents of info blum is the industry leader, but the average brand of cabinet hinge will work if applied in the right procedure i.e. the door size and thickness will determine the number of hinges needed per door; in the case of your bigger wardrobe doors. Smaller door may need a door damper like this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80126213/ as for the drawer-slide, it could either be that they were not properly fixed (aligned) or they are not suitable for the workload (drawer slides and cabinet hinges have different models for the weight that they carry).
  2. Yes, I also had an out of the box thought then, something a little bit more effective than yours. I was quite willing to give them 6ft full of concrete.
  3. Hi kanas, looks like RT isn't too active these days Ok, replacing the skirting is definitely nicer aesthetically and the additional cost is worth it. Otherwise you can use vinyl/herf without wall skirting as they do not need the expansion space requires for laminate floors. The sub-floor must be quite even though for vinyl/herf or else the joints of the tiles/planks can be an eyesore.
  4. Same material, 5 inches thick of rockwool but forgotten the cost as it was 15 years ago. Again, my advice is don't waste your money as it doesn't helps to lessen your misery. So in the end we managed to get some relief after resorting to direct confrontations, calling the police down several times late in the night, complaints to our MP, mediation center interventions, legal threats, etc It was awful, but we were at the end of our tethers.
  5. Nothing wrong with your post just that nobody has a solution to this problem. I was unlucky to have neighbors on top who were careless about the noises they were making at odd hours of the day. So I had another ceiling filled with insulation materials constructed for the bedrooms. It was money wasted!
  6. It's unlikely that you will get any money back and as Mushroom said, better to move on and find someone else to finish your renovation. You can lodge a report to the police and Case, but they have limited empowerment on such matter.
  7. You shopping for salesmanship or laminate flooring?
  8. Google "vinyl flooring health risk" and see the results. Imo, no responsible person should touch this product, as it poses health issues from production stage and continue to be so throughout it's life in usage. Linoleum (commonly used in hospital floors) and laminate flooring are truly safe, and also environmentally friendly.
  9. You guys are really selective readers, as you chose to ignored the many postings that clearly pointed to the negative qualities of this company, and the staff. Btw, a quick check at Quick-Step website revealed that they are no longer listed there as a dealer, so I don't think you can expect them to replenish their diminished stock to meet outstanding orders. Better make the best deal you can with whatever they have to offer now. Also, the "old bird" / boss cannot just discharged responsibilities with the excuse that the salesman is no longer with the company, as the deal was done when the salesman was a representative of the company.
  10. Like dat also can pass inspection! hdb staff must be sleeping. Anyway, looking forward to see the progress of your renovation. I just love these before and after pix.
  11. It's always good to buy a higher powered model, cost more of course You will need to use a masonry bit to go with it. The bit will come in different sizes, depending on the hole size you are going to drill.
  12. If my memory serves me right, it is water-based, comes in powder form packed in sachet. Should be available from any wallpaper retailer. I am not sure if Ikea is selling wallpaper, but if they do you should be able to get it from them as well.
  13. It is a minor job as you said, and I reckon it will have to be diy if you wishes to save cost. Pretty simple job really, and if your wall is fairly even and smooth you should be able to get neat paper joints.
  14. Shouldn't be an issue in your case considering the works done. There may be slight formaldehyde emissions from the adhesive used on laminating the panels of your cabinets, so you may want to leave them open to allow the gas to disperse over a couple of days. Avoid vinyl furnishing materials, as they are known for "outgassing" throughout its product life, and there is still an on-going controversy on the health-safety of using them.
