  1. May i ask what is your budget for the ID? You know those nice design in the websites are usually very expensive. Best is to get a feel for the interested design company by visiting them and based your decision on that taking consideration all the input here so far. I have seen many nicer design company other than the listed here.
  2. For us we try to put all the items inside our customised storage areas. Out of sight and less maintenance. Hopefully just mob the floor and wipe the table top dust only
  3. If the walking or common traffic area have hollowness better to fix it now else in the long run definitely will pop out and once pop out the corner & edge easily chip of. This is speaking from my experiences. I would ask the ID to change. That's too many affected tiles for your place.
  4. Wow I think you are special case and definitely don't waste $$$ as next owner may not appreciate yr taste.
  5. Nice design house, customised furnitures & space planning place does really make your place nice to stay (i would not call it "bored!") and you are usually stay a long long time. Off course there is cost associated and for those on the budget not adviceable as nice design you must have a nice furnitures to go with it. True that off the shelf items can be change easily and cost less. Best is to stay within your budget and try not to over stretch your realistic budget. No offence to those on a budget.
  6. Agree with bro Cantona7 & Air. Different designers in the same company can come out very differently in design. So you need to find the best designer in the company if choosing that company. Most important is if the designer is very creative & at the same time practical. No point designing something that looks fantastic and when implementing it cannot be done due to other factors like (eg beam obstructing, etc...). Workmanship, material used, getting along with ID, flexibility, responsive, honesty & after service is other crucial points that must taken into consideration in deciding the right ID for your place. Just based on my experiences !!
  7. Sorry not research into your price range. As was researching into newest model with hdmi 1.3. Onkyo 805 (S$1500), Onkyo 875 (S$2050) and Onkyo 905 (S$2999). Denon 3808 (around $2K). But you can look at Marantz 5001 or 6001 or Denon 2307 (i think around $700-800).
  8. Why don't you explore the idea of having a new design wall tile just for the side of the entrance area. Can you try posting a pic of the whole entrance area?
  9. Most ID will charge you for the box-up but some will do it FOC (if not too much work) if you have good relationship with the ID and that you quotation cost is a lot to justify it. Please be aware that when box-up air-cond truncking that you have some access openning facility for any future access in case leaking or for maintenance. Not sure where & how does your aircond trunking looks like now...perhaps if you can post some pics so that other will give more advices. I assume the air-cond trunking is at the top of the wall. Most people who do not box up will position the aircond trucking just below the air-cond blower/unit or below some beam and just painted over it so that it looks like part of aircond or the wall.
  10. I agree with you too. We also have similar show cabinet design with top drawer for keys, magazines, letters, socks, everyday used items. Customised shoe cabinet storage for us is very important as will keep everything neat & tidy. Advantage is that you can have the exact length & height you want. As for how much space i get is generally 1/4 of wife. Anyway, found out that best not to have too many shoes stored and not wear it constantly cos the humidity will degrade the shoes rubber & sole. Just recently have to throw away several almost new shoes cos the sole just cames off literally while walking Think for most of guys just need minimal: 1 x sport shoe, 2 x working shoe, 2 x casual shoe, slipper Correct guys?
  11. Agree with deepakvali. Best is to connect all your input to nice AVR (like latest range of Onkyo or Denon) and output the HDMI cable from the AVR to your TV HDMI input. I believe most TV only have 1 or 2 HDMI input on the TV. You can always run a spare HDMI or component cables to your TV for future use.
  12. Oh... i though it does not have any wall tile (from the pics). If have wall tiles then have to removed the wall tiles first before plastering else tile may pop in future.
  13. Sorry i do not like flowers but just the way the pics are taken
  14. Definitely can plaster the side wall to make it straight...ask him why cannot? Best to use the hard compund plaster materials as will give strong & smooth finishing. Cutting the glass not straight will make the glass not look nice...don't you think so? Plastic on the edge of the glass is another possbile idea and help to stop the air-cond from escaping. Just that it may make some noice when it rub against the wall when openning/closing.
  15. Most ID will do that. I just being told by shop that sells taps & mixers to be careful...that's all. The vapour should not affect that much to the chrome (according to my ID as they have done many without major problem) unless the chemical washing is done over the chrome accidently which i also do not know the consequenses . So for kiasu mentality is best to protect by wrapping in plastic prior to chemical wash...
  16. TV and appliance whould come in after all the carpetry finished and chemical washing done. Not adviseable to have any chrome materials around (or at least protected with wrapping) as heard that chemical vapors might cause some issues. Best to ask the TV installer to installed (as can be heavy depend on the TV size and you do not want to mess around) once your feature wall is completed. Installation usually free installation and depends on your purchase invoice. Try to time the delivery date and delivered to your new place to avoid extra transportation charges. Lighting should be fixed now with the placement of the dinning table location in mind. Tabel can come in later to avoid any damages due to carpentry & final painting/washing stage. Best is to check everything is rectified before moving in all the furnitures & TV as to avoid any accidental knock & damages & dusts to your items bought as result of any touchup or major works during the handover stage.
  17. Hi Cherlyn, Congrat to you both. Very nice pictures taken especially the wedding ring inside the white/pink rose and all the flower pics.
  18. From the pics you mean you do not have a woodrn door frame? Is the glass panel mounted on the steel bracket which will be drilled on the side concrete wall? If so would it be possible for them to do plastering the bottom portion of the wall to make the wall straight?
  19. Can be both and depends on the buget and design. With False ceiling you can eliminate the wire casing running thru the middle of the ceiling and you can have placement of many downlights any position you want to create the mood & effects of the lights throw onto your bed for example.
  20. L-box is just around the corners of the ceiling where as False ceiling is for the entire ceiling and you will feel less height. L-box is usually cheaper to do as less materials used. False ceiling uses metal suspension to hold together the plaster boards. Here are some pics for you to visualised. False-ceiling materials: False ceiling:
  21. Thanks candyprincess for sharing the info. Yes that's the rubber thingy that i'm referring to...interesting remarks regarding allowing heat & air issue...also not sure. At first M*y*r technician upon site visit said faulty door so got it replaced with a new oven the following week and the replacement now also got similar problem but less...and now they said it's normal
  22. Want to check with you all who has the oven (especially Ariston) installed recently. When our new oven arrived and istalled we noticed that the oven door is not flushed against the front top panel. Called M*y*r and they technician explained that all (incl other brand) ovens are like that when new and it will take a while after few months of usage for the rubber lining (that is inside the oven which the glass door is lean on when the door closed) will subside and the oven door will be close perfectly later. I told them how come the showroom oven are not like that (i.e the doors are closed nicely & perfectly flushed) and he told me that because they used the oven that is not new Would like to check is that a valid reason and do you all experienced this problem? Thanks
  23. Hi fire-ice, Not sure if this idea (my dream open concept kitchen ...unfortunately i did not implement in my current reno ) will suitable for you & yr hubby or not? It's an open concept in which the view from the kitchen can see most of the house. Lighting will also be good with having an open concept in the kitchen. You may also want to explore the idea of having some horizontal glass window that can see thru session of the kitchen from the main entrance door. Think picture tells a thousand words.
  24. Good points. I never though about this way Maybe next time before signing on the dotted line any cash back?
