Hi angelbutterfly, For some, storage tanks they placed it in toilets are due to maintenance. And also touchwood that for some not so good brands or some that does not have much quality, they might burst. And when it burst, you will have waterfall from your storage heater. While for changing of water heater, i'm not sure if there will be leaking of water, but my guess is, there might be some leakage.

Anyone Knows Where To Get Small Bedside Table?
MingzhuAng replied to fairymoss's topic in Home Furnishings
I don't know your budget, but i'll try Ikea. As i seen a few to my likings. Then again many mentioned in this forum that it is not that durable. -
If you are going for cheaper option, perhaps partition walls, for durability cabinets or hollow block. For me i think hollow block is better, as for my case i may place heavy stuff that needs to lean against the wall. For cabinets, there may be additional cost due to the height of your ceiling, since most carpenter charge price per feet, based on standard height..

I like your full height black mirror shoe cabinet! I'm thinking of doing something like this for my wardrobe or gonna do transparent glass wardrobe. Still considering, as we are taking it slow for our renovation. Since hb and me are not in a hurry to move in.

And when we are back we went to take a look again. Some parts weren't done well, as it does not look even. I'll call my contractor and check with him on this.

Just came back yesterday, and realized our house only plastering was done. I'm calling my contractor tomorrow and check with him what's the next step. The trip was a relaxed and fun one, despite i was unwell on the day when we got to take the flight. And i was having fever on the 12 hours flight. While for hb, he had gastric condition when we're there, as he couldn't adapt to the time difference, as he is someone who takes his meals on super routine time. The day when he came back, he told me his appetite came back and feeling good. So i shouted "WEAK!" in his face. During the stay at hb sister's place, i think i passed the virus to her. And she was very sick on the 6th day when we were still there. Before we left for our trip, we visited our new flat and check things out, it was a sunday and the plaster guy is actually plastering our house.

Help On Wall Tiles! (Cracking)
MingzhuAng replied to mercsbenz's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
Since there are Home Improvement program, it might have deepen or worsen the condition that was earlier there. What i understand is that you can talk to the HDB for the in charge. They may not pay for the whole repair, but perhaps certain percentage, imo its better then nothing. Perhaps for the home improvement program they might have sent letters regarding such issues. Try recalling or try emailing and ask. -
Don't ever use vinegar or bleach, you will remove the polish of the marble. I think you try talking to your supplier if they have more experiences in marble and could give you advices.

It depends on whether you will like the flooring. Of course, by not hacking it, you will save a great deal. If it is something which troubles you, hack it! Granite is harder then marble, it does absorbs water when you leave the water patch for days. If you found water patch and wipe it off soon. Not a problem. Granite can't be polished. Granite is a little cheaper then marble but a lot more expensive then homogeneous tiles. For me i choose marble due to the grout line that is even with the flooring after getting polished. It can be polished in time to come and it can regain its shine once again. And marble flooring has the color that i want. It is porous, and over time, the marble might change its lines and color will be lighten if white cement is used. Before that i was deciding between marble, granite and homogeneous. And realized granite does not have the color that i wanted. So i moved on and decides between homogeneous and marble, due to the huge price difference. In the end, i choose marble, as i know in future, i will look at the floor everyday and regret if i didn't do what i have wanted due to the price difference. And this regret will carry on during your stay in the house.

No updates today. Went to new house to meet contractor, not much done, as our marble tiles took 10 days to complete. Most probably tomorrow or friday and saturday will be plastering of the whole house due to the rock style wall surface. Tomorrow will be going Malaysia with bbf since hb can't make it, to buy ceiling fan. Thanks my bbf very much. And contractor told us that next week would be wiring plus false ceiling, but next week hb and i would not be in SG. Most prob might get my dad to monitor progress for us then. He should be a lot more familiar. Oh.. i'm wondering if i should choose Nippon paint or ICI paint. Heard that Nippon is more lasting. Actually, i'm more towards Nippon, then again the new wash and wear or midifresh. So hard to make decision lo.. Life is full of decision.. Anyone can advice?

I'm not too sure if i'm fully right. If i'm not wrong, acrylic might turn yellowish over time, if it is in white color, prone to scratches and over time might turn matt or blur. While if it is fully glass, there is some weight involved. While laminate and glass is more of design purpose as well as weight management.

If yours is a new flat, mostly will have to overlay if you want to have different tiles. If not, should go for hacking and lay tiles. Of course, you can overlay, but no guarantee that the tiles below will not crack or pop up in future especially there are hollowness in it. If the bottom tile cracks or pops up, it will affect the ones that are above.

Just a suggestion, thought of doing false ceiling? And also doing a ceiling high feature wall? I mean from floor to ceiling kind of feature wall, and run the cables in the false ceiling.
-
Asked my hb already, their price is $45. So i guess the price should not go beyond too far from $45. Of course, this does not include installation, even with installation, i think should not go above $100.

haha.. ya, but BB's case is super agitated when he sees garang guni. He will jump up at my metal gate, and my metal gate will shake, then he will jump from the door frame on the left to right and vice versa, until the garang guni is out of his sight. If i'm beside him, he may not do it. If i'm somewhere far, this will happen, and when the garang guni sees him, they normally don't dare to horn and shout.
-
Hi yaolong, thanks. BB is doing very well today. Even barking at passing by strangers who he has never seen before and his no. 1 most hate person, garang guni-s. Even started barking, before the garang guni reached my door step, and we were in my room with the door closed.

I think you can visit those industrial area hardware store, might have it cheaper. Else i can help you inquire from my hb's store, that does industrial business if that is the standard price for this type of lock. If i didn't remember wrongly, my hb did told me it's quite cheap actually, when we were deciding if we should change to digital lock or change to this kind of lock.

MBR Didn't really visited our new house, as i was really busy this week. Friend's funeral, another friend's birthday, my dog BB is sick, and i have to see doctor too. Plus have to prepare for our overseas trip. I felt this week is the longest week in my life. So tiring. For BB, he has toxic poisoning. He must have dug the rubbish that my dad thrown into our small rubbish bin under the coffee table, but no worries now. He is fine now, just that he has to be under medication for 2 week and Sunday we have to bring him back for appointment. I was so shocked that day when he vomited, and he ran to one corner, vomited again and laid down urinated. After that not moving an inch when we called him, when i carried him up, his body was so soft and no strength, but he is still concious, eyes moving but not his body. His gums and tongue turned very pale. And in that state he poo-ed and urinated at the same time, but wasn't diarrhea. So we rushed him to the vet, upon reaching the vet's carpark, he started moving a little, and recovered his strength. He almost got hospitalized, but we prefer to monitor him our own. So we brought him back. And now, he is back to normal, disturbing us as usual, and stalking all of us who has food on our hands, but too bad, vet says he can only eat his dog food. No apples, no carrots, no treats, nothing. I think that will be better too, on days when he is not too well, we gave him nothing other then his main course too.

Updates for today. Flooring all done, left with skirting. Initially, wanted to skip on the skirting, but contractor says it will be hard as the gap has to be really small between the wall and the floor. So, to give and take, do the skirting lo.. Main door kerb is done. View from outside. View from within the house. View from main entrance.

Hi angelbutterfly, i seriously think that the contractor is trying to smoke you. The standard practice should be after the coats of paint throughout the whole house, THEN put up carpentry. And after carpentry do touch ups. That's what my contractor told me, as well as my father. Further to that, you paid him 2k for the painting and materials, and he is trying to scrimp on the paint used? Anyway, not that he can scrimp a lot with those few areas. Just insist and make him do it for you, no matter what.
