  2. Milk is ok. Soy No. But the soy issue is for men to abstain. Does Wii Fit Really work? lol.
  3. Whoa.. thats really long ago.. what's your HT setup like?
  4. Oh yeah. the cylinder is a downfiring sub. have special promo going on. quite bang for the buck. PC12NSD
  5. This is an EOF. Equal Opportunities Forum. Don't need to thank me for it. Whether you are here to build up potential clients or solicit for business or just like me.. very free.. so you want to help all the chaps out here who are undergoing renovations to give them your 2 cents in how they should go about handling their reno. Thats really your perogative of choice. You are entitled to your own opinions having the thoughts though on the other hand, whether my posts here or in this forum is irrelevant or not, isn't really for you to judge. What I want to ask has already been asked in previous post: "If you could help answer that, it will be really helpful." I see no point debating in an empty room. You don't need me to help you get this posting to a high hit rate. You can do it yourself. Welcome.
  6. An amazing piece of review by our resident Deepakvali. But still I believe you're right, everyone would rather spend the same omount on a HTIB. Another Very good sub in the same category.
  7. Oh, I'm very free thats why i post alot! =) Thats another matter all together. I believe that lawry when he posted his request, he really wanted to know "Also, the materials I chose were plain laminates, no glass, no metal strips, no mirrors. In another instance, someone chose all these more expensive materials, but it still costs the same? So, carpentry charges, is it a true reflection of the costs involved in making the item itself at all? Or it just happened to a random figure given out, where the gains from it can be used to offset any other losses for some lower margin profit items? I'm sure quite a few of us will be interested to know this industry pricing mystery." If you could help answer that, it will be really helpful. By the way, you could skip all this by sending an email to advertising@renotalk.com and openly give quotes from your firm after you registered as a commercial user. Gd Luck!
  8. It's ironic that you say you will help to provide some figures on costing. But It seems like what you have replied Lawry to be more of "to speak and say nothing". I don't see any numbers being thrown around and I think lawry wanted more details. The point is since you are so experienced, you should help ppl who aren't. Since you already know the commonly asked questions, why not help by giving the answers now. You did say "Right now, i am providing services to tell you how much roughly it will cost with no obligations. " So now are you saying posting pricing does not serve any purpose?
  9. LOL. here got men owners also mah.. have to try...
  10. IF you are "Right now, i am providing services to tell you how much roughly it will cost with no obligations. " And since you have the common questions all listed out.. why not just type your answers out?
  11. I am a member of that forum. I couldn't make it for the 4th MO and wasn't sure of the next one when it be.. normally 2-4months.. so post here to see if have anyone interested.
  12. Hi Hitman, Prices for Full HD TVs have been dropping and I believe that it makes more bang for the buck getting a 42" Full HD as compared to a 42" HD-Ready. With regards to your question, I can't seem to find the specs on the 42AM550, hence I've used the specs for the 42AV550 as a comparison. Dynamic contrast has always been a debatable issue as different manufacturers might have a different way of measuring their own dynamic contrast. Looking at the brightness level the toshiba has just a slight edge. If you do your work around, you'll realized that there have been end-users highlighting banding issues on their Sharp TVs. How common the problem is I'm not sure, but there have been issues over the last 1 year. Toshiba's Meta-Brain technology has been around since their just started their LCD business and their in-house technology have received rave reviews on the colour reproduction. Although the Toshiba only has 1 HDMI input, it doesn't really matter in my opinion because its not Full HD. Many manufacturers use parts from others. E.g. Sony using Samsung LCD Panels in their Bravia TVs. Each manufacturer has its areas of expertise and it's not unusual (for cost efficiency / economies of scale) to purchase from someone else. Personally I still think you should go Full HD.
  13. What's the fuss about high thread count sheets? Thread count of sheets can be defined by the number of horizontal and vertical threads in one square inch of fabric. Percale means sheets made with a thread count over 100. Thread counts can range from 80 to 1000 ct. However most department stores or wholesale stores carry thread count ranges from 180-500. Two properties make up a square inch of fabric in high thread count sheets. The “warp” is the number of vertical threads pre square inch and the “weft” is the number of horizontal threads per square inch. To get the thread count of high thread count sheets, you add the number of warp and weft. For example, a thread count of 180 means a warp of 100 and a weft of 80 horizontal threads. The thickness of the thread will also determine how many threads can fit in a square inch. A fine thread makes it possible for a denser thread count per square inch. “Ply” also can play a role in the density of high thread count sheets. If you come across a “two ply” sheet, the thread was made by twisting two yarns together before they were weaved. Single ply is just that, a single thread used to make the fabric. Therefore, there is more thread per square inch in a two ply than in a single ply. There are both positive and negative aspects to the higher thread count. Sheets that have a higher thread count cost more than the average thread count sheet. High thread count sheets are softer, but they tend to be a little less durable because they are made of a finer, more delicate thread. When it comes to buying sheets that are over 320 ct, some retailers and manufacturers believe higher numbers do not yield a softer sheet. So if you are looking for a softness and don't mind the wear, anything between 300 and 320 ct will be suitable. Don't fall into the thread count trap! Thread count is a good way of checking the quality however it is not all. You can buy have 2 bedsheets with the same threadcount but one might still feel better quality than the other. You need to also see the fiber quality (i like 100% cotton). Egyptian combed cotton and Jacquard cotton are favourites. Other things would be yarn size and the finishing also matters. The easiest is the feel test. Manufacturers put thread count in two different measurements: per SQUARE INCH and per 10 SQUARE CMs. So, if you see “thread count: 180 per 10 cm2″, that’s probably around 120 thread count per square inch. Generally speaking, 10 square cm is 1.55 square inch. So when you see a thread count in 10cm2 or 10 square cm, always ask the shopkeeper to convert that into square inch (it’s not easy to convert area measurement yourself, believe me!) so you compare different brands / options apple-to-apple. some portions adapted from: http://ezinearticles.com http://forums.cozycot.com
  14. Some drawings might help us to assist you. 55ft is 16.7m. Are you sure? I think your kitchen could cost between 10-12k reasonably. Materials are important too. You using granite for your tabletop? Any special anti-slam system for your cupboards and drawers? Anti-slam hinges are cheap around $3-5 dollars one hinge. But Anti Slam tracks for drawers are quite expensive, depending on weight and material, can cost 40bucks / pair of tracks.. up to 100++ .. Lets not jump and say expensive until we see everything.
  15. Depends on what arowana you want. Different arowanas can grow to different lengths. If you are getting the cheap silver arowana, you better prepare around a 6ft tank. This fish is a monster.. LOL.. Arowana's are jumpers so you also want to take note of casing. Don't put too much things inside the tank, they need to space. I've seen arowana's live in peace with other fish, e.g. chinese suckerfish.. In my case, I thought so too... lol... few weeks later.. had to "bury" my suckerfish.. Rough guide is the other fish must be at least half the length of the arowana.. ok.. i'm babbling..
  16. Pre-natel = pregnant mums mah..

  20. Dear All, My brother-in-law and myself are interested in getting SVS subwoofers. Its difficult to find bang for the buck subwoofers in singapore and honestly for the price we are paying for 10" subs up to 300watts less than a thousand or 12" subs around 325 watts for less than 1200, its really a good deal.. In singapore you either find the yamaha / jamo subs at best denki and harvey norman, if you are hardworking, you can go down to adelphi or other places, but most people will tell you its difficult to find solid active subs for less than 1k. You can go to the svsound.com website and let me know of your interest. shipping costs is estimated around 200 to 300 USD and the more we order, the more cost savings we have. If you're living in a 5I HDB, then the PB10-NSD would suffice for less than 3000 Cubic Feet. The living room typically is around 1800 Cubic Feet. On the other hand, I think the PC12-NSD is bang for the buck at just slightly more. We'll require cash to be paid to reserve stock as they will build the subs with the power supply to Singapore's voltage. Estimated cost of the PB10-NSD is around 850 to 900 SGD if we order group of 5 and above, if we buy one by one, we prolly pay around 1k to 1.2k each. More details will be provided at later dates when we consolidate interest. Cheers!
