  1. Still cannot find an ideal clock for the living room...That matches the white minimalist theme Still looking to put up my unit number on the door...something unlike the conventional gold or black plated types...
  2. yeah...can do it in phases. important to plan for the power point/switch locations in advance so that your electrican can cater for it upfront. Then next time you can add in the LED strips yourself easily.
  3. Forgot to add that price is for waterproof RGB. If you going for non waterproof type willbe even cheaper
  4. I got them locally for the reasons below Color variation for different batches One thing to note for RGB LED is that the colour tone for different batches may differ slightly. This is crucial if you are looking to have lighting that is more than 5m long since each reel is only 5m. So if you get 2 reels of light that happen to be from different batches, you will have a problem if the blue of one is light/darker than the other. This is important to me as I have LEd light for my ceiling cove lights, feature wall lights and tv console downlights which adds up to about 20m and i intend to control all with just one remote so the colours have to be consistent. Measurement and soldering/joining Local shops you can get them to cut to measure, join up and connect 2 strips and even solder the connectors all to size for you. This is good for those who do not have the tools at home or their reno electrican is not familiar with LED strips. in any case, it will be more convenient to have 1 party to do it all for you. Testing and support Local shops allow you to test the strips with the LED driver and the power adaptor you need to ensure all is working and the colour tones of the LED strips are consistent. E.g. you don't get the end connected to the power brighter than the end that is furthest away from the power. Or if the colour tones of different reels of LED strips are consistent. Also, any problem with accidental breakage or issues after installation, you can go back to the shop to exchange. Also, you can clarify your doubts with them if you are unsure of anything. Value for Money For the additional benefits above, the cost of LED RGB locally is only about $18 per meter which is not that much more expensive compared to online whose quality is unknown unless you have ordered before. Even thought they are all 5050 RGB LED strips, there are some whose joint areas are very thinly made (save costs on the copper) that snaps off easily when you are sticking the strip around the corners. Also have to note the amperage of the LED driver provided as there are 5A and 10A available. You also don't hve to deal with shipment delays or if you realised you need more (have to wait!) or if you overbuy. Locally, just get the quantity you need and you can go back for more if you need, don't have to buy more to compensate for shipping time and quality issues. I don't think the savings by going online justifies the risk and drawbacks unless if you are really buying in very large quantity and know the quality of LED strip sold by the online vendor. There are alot of shops selling LED light strips at Sim Lim Tower, but the one I will recommend is E-Top Electronics at Level 3 for their price and service provided.
  5. Thanks, glad that what we envisioned came off nicely in broad terms just that overlooked some details here and there e.g. Power point placements. White Laminate flooring makes it much easier to maintain as it is less prone to stickiness when dirty and gives a nice feeling to the feet though dirt and hair will be obvious. No real tips to keep it white other than regular cleaning and getting things that is easy to maintain e.g. No textured tiles or wallpaper or laminates that will trap dirt. We got a good hood that supposedly can filter off 90 percent of oil and it is easy to clean the filter. So we will on the hood to max whenever we cook. Induction hob heats things up pretty fast and abit too fast to get used to....chaota a few dishes le. But this will ensure the cooking time is kept to a minimum. Glossy white laminate also last better compared to Matt. Other than that it is just the consolation thought that things will get dirty over time and white will at least let us know when it is dirty rather than give us the false impression that things are cleaner than they actually are. So all white minimalist will force us in a way to keep things clean and tidy regularly. Have only just started living there though, so far so good and we really love the clean and minimalist look of the house every time we step in.
  6. I bought my washing machine Samsung WD8804CJA from them a couple months back at $799. It was the best deal after comparison with the large retailers like Gaincity, Audiohse, and even the other frequented local shops at Bt Merah, AMK etc. They actually have a small shopfront at Geylang Road. The transaction was smooth and delivery was on time. I added in the shopping bag and checked out. Someone called me the next day to confirm delivery date. It was cash on delivery too. Good and trustworthy based on my transaction experience with them
  7. No problem, more than happy to share. They cost about $1.1K from Starliving Furniture as a set. We got it from the outlet at International Furniture Centre. They have the all black version as well. Only 2 colour choices. Do let me know if you need anything other info
  8. Have Pmed you the shop i bought from (but the white colour is already out of stock) not sure about the grey. I added in 2 other shops that sell a variety of door knobs that you can go recce at Good luck!
  9. The dining set includes the white storage dining table, the storage bench, 2 storage stools. Yes, I bought the 4 light cubes separately from the group buy thread here: Light Cubes it's about $300 per cube. every 2 cubes comes with a remote. They can change colors so quite synchronise with my feature walls. You can find out more details about the cubes in the GB thread above.
  10. Hi Brianho, Have PM you the contact and pricing. Good luck!
  11. Thanks! i used those RGB LED strips 5050. you need to buy a LED driver and power adaptor as well to connect it up. With the remote, there's a variety of colours to change or even set to auto-change mode...fav so far is cyan! it helps to create different moods and ambience for the home..
  12. Thanks! It's a challenge at times doing a minimalist theme with only 91sqm of space...will be easier if have bigger space to play with. Having lots of storage all over the house helps us to cheat abit by hiding the clutter whenever we can.
  13. Have used it a number of times and so far so good. It definitely heats up the wok and food faster than traditional gas stove and have to get used to the different heat settings (range of 12 with boost) for optimal cooking. Cleaning is a breeze also, but have to remember to clean immediately after cooking so that it's easier to wipe off any water marks or food stains. I have some problem previously cleaning the hob after the stains hardened which I had to contact Brandt to come down to assist. I requested for my electrician to install a 15A socket for the induction hob. No issue so far, even if power on my fridge, whole house aircon, water heater, PC, TV, it's OK and no short circuit Based on my research, this is one of the few 2-zone induction hob that is suitable for HDB based on the power requirements. If you are going for induction hob in your flat, I strongly recommend this model. Brandt support is friendly, responsive and manage to resolve the issue quickly. I initially emailed them to ask about how best to remove the stains on the hob. They suggested using vinegar and leave overnight. That did not work so I asked if there are other ways. Rather than trial and error, they arranged for their technician to come down to my place to check out the stain and help in the removal. They came down on a Saturday when I'm not working and was punctual in the appointment. Got a few tips from the guy as well on how to maintain the hob in future. Great service
  14. The expert from Brandt came over to help clean up the stain for the Brandt Induction hob TI607BU1 I bought a couple months ago. Apparently, having water at the bottom of the wok when you use the hob will leave a white residual stain due to the heating. Had a hard time removing the stains so contacted Brandt for help. They are very responsive and manage to resolve the issue for me. Great service! Will take better care of my hob for now..
  15. Hi SzeHui, Thanks! I have Pmed you my reno costs for the main ID and different sub-contractors. Do let me know if there's anything specific you need or any additional info.
  16. This washer is really quite silent that we hardly ever noticed that its washing. Same with the vibration...quite minimal. Hope it stays this way as its ages haha Will take note once it starts showing signs of aging next time... Used the dryer a few times as well...quite useful. I find it he washing machine worth it at only $799. Have not tried the air wash yet though.
  17. My ID is Jonathan Ewe or Jon Ewe for short, from Summit Design Studio. I have PMed you his contact. Good luck in researching and planning for your reno!
  18. Haha I think I would have taken the display set too if in your shoes. I called up quite a few different hardware shops and it was not easy to find a pure white knob without any design like flowers or strips on the door knob. The other alternative I was considering would be black door knobs.
  19. Hi Piknik The doors are what we inherited from the prev owner. We just painted it white and change the door knobs. My ID advised us against changing the doors as their condition were still quite good. The white door knob was more of a challenge but my source already out of stock...
  20. That is my one and only toilet..we wanted it to look more spacious that's why we hacked the hall We wanted a longish vanity top which is why we shifted it over to the wall...and also initially we wanted the entrance area--vanity--toilet-bowl to be dry while restricting the wet area to just the shower area with the shower screen. We did explore quite a few different configurations before we ended up where we were..we never did think about the possibility of a bath tub though..that's a nice idea!
  21. The mirror is customer built from my ID. 4ftx2ft for $200. Haha so you got the last set of door knobs? So lucky! Yah white door knobs not that easy to find...
  22. Yup, spray painted the circuit box myself. I did some quick sanding and sprayed a white primer coat before the actual white paint. So far no problem with the paint as usually you seldom touch the circuit box. The only area you contact is the tip of the flap cover whenever you wanna lift it open. Even that you usually contact the bottom of the cover so no issues at all. It's really a must for me else the original yellowish circuit box will stick out like a sore thumb So far if you include everything in (reno works, electrician, lights, toilet accessories, system 4 air-con) it's about 40K. Went over budget due to quite a bit of additional costs in the course of the reno. Furniture and electrical appliances excluded. Let me know if you are keen in my ID Can check out more pics of my place at my T-blog link. http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45287 Good luck!
  23. Minimalist Black and White Toilet Hacked the original separating wall to combine two (WC and Bath) toilets into one so that it is more spacious. Walled up half the entrance and added a glass sliding door (Pastel Crystal White from Aplus Glass) at the other end. Left a space for the washing machine. An old model Samsung WD8804CJA but can do Washer-Dryer-AirWash. Won't be using the dryer all the time, but will be a good option to have for rainy days and urgent wardrobe requirements The space above the washing machine is about just nice for an IKEA FAKTUM wall cabinet with RUBRIK White glass door. View from Kitchen with door closed View from Kitchen with door opened Black tiles for the floor and white tiles for the wall. ID suggested to add mosaic strip in the middle. Went abit off the minimalist theme here Initially wanted a glass screen for the shower area, but decided to leave it open for the time being so that it's more spacious. Resulted in the whole bathroom floor wet whenever we bath though.. The shower set. Tried to keep it as minimalist as possible. Will have think of ways to de-clutter the facial wash above the dispensers. Wash Basin to the left of the bathroom. Didn't really came out what we wanted..but have to make do for various reasons Toothpaste dispenser recommended by my ID. Have to think of ways to hide the ugly toothpaste tube though. Maybe should ask my ID whether can box-up the toothpaste That seem to solve everything else unsightly in the rest of the house
  24. Just thought I will highlight this prev post of mine as well on my review of the dining set. Pleased with their service and will definitely consider going back there again for my next purchase.
  25. Hi tiffany, Have Pmed you the price and contacts. Hope it helps!
