  1. hmm...can't really decide which is a more minimalist phone? need to get a white telephone to blend in the white minimalist theme... the white epure swissvoice phone or the colombo two phone
  2. agree that it will be nice to make furniture disappear and was really tempted by this dining set whereby the all glass table and transparent polycarbonate chairs will really make the whole dining set blend into the surroundings. yes, really looking forward to maintaining the white laminate flooring! Already standby magic-clean wipes and maybe considering getting one of those robot cleaners to help out in future... never thought about having to clean the silicon though hahaha but I guess they will get dirty too..
  3. Cool, real nice package you designed there! I love the stools especially...but for practical reasons will need my stool to be stackable due to the small size of my home..I like the clean cut look of the sofa as well..but boconcept is over my budget haha Due to additional costs that cropped up in the course of my renovation, I had to sacrifice and really cut the budget from my furniture (going for IKEA) and electrical appliances (postpone the purchase of my living room TV as well).
  4. Thanks for the compliment. My ID said that we are very disciplined in sticking to all white theme as many people are usually tempted to go for other options when they have the range of carpentry laminates to choose or the nippon/ICI colour book to decide on their paint colour. Yah, the white laminate flooring is really I think one of the few limited options I have in this all white minimalist home theme though due to the following considerations I have a) No grout lines I feel is an unnecessary pattern that "interrupts the flow" of the feet. A minimalist flooring should be smooth flowing. This basically rules out homogenous and ceramic tiles. b) Must be white in colour. This rules out timber flooring like parquet which is only wood in colour. I did considered the evorich allure vinyl flooring considering the practicality it has over laminates but colour-wise, it's too creamish. I'm happy the lack of stock took made the decision easy for me in the end. c) Must bring in warmth to the house to complement the white glossy carpentry. This rules out marble and stone that can be laid without grout lines. So I ended up with my "minimalist" white floor laminate. I'm glad it achieved the effect!
  5. nice..I'm also hoping to be able to move in in another week's time...keeping my fingers crossed. Do post some pics of your white laminate flooring!
  6. haha I thought it's minimalist in the sense that it does not have legs and is one full piece down in a clean line. I am deciding between this and the other four legged chair I posted earlier. I would have loved a full glass table with glass frame and legs that go along with transparent acrylic/polycarbonate chairs. However, for practical and psychological reasons had to give that concept up. So transparent chairs are out, looking for gloss white instead to match the dining table. I prefer to have no holes in the backing of the ghost chair..be good to have just one single piece of backing connected to the seat and the legs.. maybe it's fate that all the panton s chairs in glossy white are out of stock...which means I should go for the simple 4-legged chair
  7. My ID will come by the house whenever there is new works going on to make sure the sub-contractors are briefed on the reno-plan and changes. I go check every weekend and on days where there are works going so that anything not done right I can quickly ask the sub-contractor to change/re-do immediately rather than wait until they finish everything. However, there are times when I do not have time to go down to check and they already finished. Then have to notify my ID to come down and discuss. Usually it's a matter of whether I wanna delay the renovation by asking them to redo or accept the less than desired works.
  8. After waiting for 3 weeks, carpentry is finally coming in but quite a bit of rectifications to be done...keeping my fingers crossed I can shift in before CNY, but even then it looks unlikely all my rectifications will be done up, especially when whole cupboards have to redo.. hope my ID can expedite the carpenter to make good what they should deliver and to give the rectifications priority rather than re-joining the queue behind other new carpentry works.
  9. I'm intending to go for all white minimalist style. can check out my t-blog here here's a photo of my living room in all white. white curtains on the way. I even spray painted the circuit box white! I've bought all white dining table, sofa, coffee table, stools to furnish the living room. Looking forward to the maintenance challenge maybe the irobots can help abit...
  10. Seems like whole of Singapore is out of stock for the panton designer replica chair...or at least the gloss white chair version. All only have existing stock of the matt white version which will not match as well with my white gloss dining table. so hard to find nice minimalist white chair .. tried the following: lush-lush comfort furniture gnee hong renotalk winter furniture designer.sg beds.sg hommage Anybody knows any other place have? looks like either I have to wait (ordering takes about 10-12 weeks) or look for another design..
  11. cool! looking forward to that. I saw the tarkett laminate when I was at evorich..but I rem the price is quite high as compared to the allure series?
  12. Yes, will be sticking to the all white minimalist theme. Already shortlisted a few items as in previous posts. I think you just need to make sure the window contractor is in HDB approved list to carry out the works in changing the windows n grilles. Any permit e.g. reno and hacking is applied by my ID.
  13. It's from a hardware store along Balestier road...can't remember the name offhand. Will see if I still have the receipt at home to verify and will post again.
  14. Minimalist chairs Are stools more minimalist than chairs? Dining chairs or dining stools? If I go for chairs, are chairs with 4 legs in the most basic form more minimalist or chairs without legs?
  15. I love the white vohringer laminates...the white nippon sail white paint (which my ID so rightly recommended)...the white powder coated windows..and the white window grills (for my kids safety) If only I can keep the living room in this minimalist state! waiting patiently for carpentry...
  16. took me quite a while to find all white minimalist or all black minimalist door knobs with cylindrical locksets for my 3 bedrooms. I thought all white or black will be quite straightforward given that I'm not looking for anything fanciful, but seems that nowadays all come in silver or bronze or oil rubbed bronze... Very happy in the end that I managed to find all white minimalist door knobs for my bedroom doors. And for a very reasonable price of $12 per set! This will really go along nicely with the white doors.
  17. During our carpentry meeting, decided to change to a minimalist white feature wall. My ID was very nice to accommodate the changes...though no extra delays as the carpenter says it will take 3 weeks to fabricate my cabinets n wardrobes due to the unevenness of the walls n ceilings. So they can start work on the other items first while we spent one more week to firm up the new design with my ID. We thought that something simpler in white will go along nicely with our white minimalist theme.
  18. Vohringer white laminates... Cleaned up the cement screed before laying...looks good and feels good closed up with protective paper after laying to prevent damage from other works
  19. so u used a different white laminate for one of your bedroom? why?
  20. oh didn't think of that...yah I'm looking for something white though...so wood in white colour will do for me as well. But not that easy to find especially nice and affordable ones. Do share if you find any nice tables!
  21. The current sink and hob are quite worn out already so we thought of changing it together with our reno of the house. Surface top wise, we have to make sure it matches back with the existing solid surface top at the other part of the kitchen so not much choice I guess...yah considering the Rinnai RB-2CG for our hob...the inner flame thingy quite intriguing.. Is White Piano Gloss 1mm from jennings considered a gd quality laminate for the kitchen cabinets? We will be doing soft-closing blum hinges....not sure what other blum system to put in place for bottom cabinets? Can recommend? Thanks!
  22. Thanks albertchng...i was hoping there could be people who can cut on the spot. The concrete frame supporting the solid top have to be cut too..if have to dismantle the solid top, then it's probably not feasible as the concrete frame is cannot be removed, which means cannot be cut... looks like no choice other than to redo the whole solid counter top n bottom cabinets...
  23. I wanna change the kitchen sink and hob but retain the solid surface top and bottom cabinets. Realised that the solid surface top is supported by concrete. The concrete top is actually one whole big piece runs at the top of the cabinet. Is it possible to cut the concrete and solid surface so that I can fit a bigger sink and hob into the holes? Anybody have contacts or advice greatly appreciated. Attached pics Kitchen Sink top view Kitchen Sink bottom view Kitchen Hob top view Kitchen Hob bottom view
  24. haha..the black one in my last post is I spray painted myself..it came in stainless steel, from a Singapore brand called Showy which I bought in hardware store for $8. If you are interested in black stone floor trap, you can try Jonite (www.jonite.com) They have something like this in black stone which is very nice as well. Hope this helps
