    Solar Film

I installed solar films in my study room windows. The room is unique because it's converted from a toilet to a study (we told the developer not to install the sanitary wares and just to seal up the pipes/drains when they build the place. We had wanted to install an aircon there but was told that it is going to be very expensive with a lot of hacking (of the brand new place) so we decided to just put a fan and install top grade solar film on the windows. Had gone back to the installer of my car's film, and the installer showed me their latest film, which is much better than the best when I installed 6 yr ago. He got a meter to measure the visible light transmission (for those familiar with LTA regulations re films, this will be familiar) and another equipment to measure heat transmission, telling me confidently that there is no other films whose specs are better than his... I must say it was quite good after installation, but it wasn't exactly cheap. The brand is tintsycool in case anyone is keen.
  2. I need to put an extension cord (those 3-way 3 metre type) in an area where rain might reach, if the wind is strong. Does anyone have any recommendation on what I should do to waterproof the extension cord, where i will have three 2-pin plugs plugged into the extension cord? tks...
  3. Hi there, Anyone working around New Tech Park at Lor Chuan interested in renting a 4-rm HDB flat just 1 min's walk away from Lor Chuan MRT station? Flat available from mid April or early May onwards, tentatively.
  4. I'd replied to antos123@gmail.com. How much do you feel is reasonable price? It's urgent now as I'm vacating my flat this weekend... Interested?

  5. Hi there, Would you know what is the norm for paying a agent for taking care of renting out a HDB flat? Is there a fixed rate, or is it negotiable? tks...
  6. Interested for home gym. Is the price nego. ? I stay in Boonlay. Pl reply to antos123@gmail.com

  7. Thanks! Will chrome rust? Is it better to get stainless steel instead? Anyone else has any other advice on this?
  8. Hi all, Does anyone has any advice on where is the best place to get the stainless still racks that can be put inside the store room? Or is there any shops that sell these, at reasonable rates? thanks.
  9. Does anyone happen to know the market rate for electrician? what is the normal rate for: - pulling the cables for a downlight, - pulling cable for a T5, - 2-way switch - double 13-amp socket outlet - scv point - tel point - installing downlight - installing fan Am trying to find out whether the electrician that my ID has recommended is trying to chop me... many thanks!
  10. OK. thanks... Sounds like LED is not exactly a good/safe choice. Guess will stick with either PLC or E27 energy-saving type for now. Would anyone be able to advise what is the normal price for a single-tube E27 downlight? tks.
  11. Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yup, the E27 single-bulb suggestion is what I'm considering too, given that there are quite a number of downlights suggested, esp. in the ilving area. Could you advise how much is your quote for such lights? I assume they are all safety-tested (this is necessary for the energy-saving ones too right, not only limited to LED?)? It's not a bad idea to have a mix of LED & energy-saving lights. I might be using one set more often than others. How much is your LED downlight? And is it the integrated type (bulb and lighting unit integrated) or is it a LED bulb screwed onto the lighting unit type? Oh, yes, how much are your T5, 3 and 4 ft tubes too? once again, thanks.
  12. Hi there, Had started a thread, but figured it might be useful to post the same here too: Am sourcing for lightings for my new place and need some advice on LED downlights. ID has recommended ~37 downlights for the whole house, and am considering whether to get the cheaper/traditional PLC or energy-saving E27, or to invest more on LEDs. Just started going to a few shops last weekend, plus had one supplier went over to our place to quote us, and was told: - normal PLC $35 per piece (inside got i think 2 tubes) - for LED downlights, the tube is in-built and if the light is spoilt, will have to change the whole light fitting (c.f. to the PLC one where can only change the tube). It's also 3x more expensive and costs around $110 per piece. Can save a lot on the electricity bill but that's long-term and also depends on usage pattern. - for T5 cove lights that are also recommended by ID, cost for 4ft one is abt $20 for the cheaper ones. Then at one shop, was shown a LED tube that is suitable for the E27-type downlights. Was quoted $28 for a 2-tube energy-saving set, and if wanna change to LED, add 2x$30 = $88 for each 2-tube downlights. Can you advise whether there are many choices for LED tubes for downlights (and not only those with the LED tubes integrated into the light fittings ones), and how much they will cost? Thanks...
