  1. Yes We have decided to engage him. Tiles selection on next Monday, so excited! It is good that you have a blog, i believe it will benefit a lot of ppl here
  2. Yes, the artemide talo lamp! I also saw this in taobao.. but i was reluctant to place order because there is no reflective blade from the photos i saw in taobao and the actual one. They price is from 160 RMB only. With the reflective blade Without the blade I personally prefer the one with blade.
  3. Aya, you are very resourceful! Thanks! That's exactly what he is looking for. The one with a cord to pull. Hubby was telling me he used to this kind of light in the UK but hardly see them here.
  4. Is it because you choose laminate with v-groove? So can see the gap quite obvious. I heard they are better though.
  5. Why would your seller deliberately do that! Is there something wrong with her or what..
  6. Aya!! Where can we get this? My hubby was looking for a suspension fluorescent light for the study room. And the one we saw are quite expensive. The second one actually looks like this, right?
  7. Ideas Because we have not engaged any ID, we need to be very clear of what we want to do for our flat. The main thing, of course, is the kitchen, the only place in the house with built-in carpentry. We have taken a lot of time to decide what we really want for our kitchen. I hope this will be the final idea, and not to change our minds again during the reno process. We would like a kitchen back splash that looks like a wallpaper. Though there are many wallpaper-looking tiles in the market, they are rather plain against the all-white cabinet. We have decided to use cement patterned tiles or peranakan tiles to spice up the otherwise plain white kitchen. Here is a collage of our idea. (please bear with the crooked cabinet and the not-so nice photos ) Welcome more ideas!
  8. Haha, husband must be trained to accept wife's taste. Keke.. Anyway, it looks good. Make the house brighter. Just that maybe slightly harder to maintain.
  9. Oh my God, hope the leaking problem will be solved! Did you notice the pipe was tied with cloth when you first view the flat? Or you just noticed recently?
  10. Wow, no need to spend on flooring and yet still can make the place look good!
  11. Never mind Terrain, take your time to decide the right one. I also took a long long time. This is huge sum of money not just few hundred bucks issue. Good luck
  12. XTR, Hi!I recognise your DIY brick wall. Your design is really fabulous!
  13. Will look nicer with a romantic wall paper
  14. Best light in JB, do you have the address? Can PM me?
  15. I get what you mean now. Your L box in the kitchen is the one above your cabinet right? Ya, that was what we asked for. But the quotation is inclusive of false ceiling in the corridor areas as well. Since all the quotation we get also $900 plus minus, so we think the price is roughly around there la no matter which contractor we take the cost is still there.
  16. Do you mean the L-box with cove lights are cheaper? I get quotation for L-box with false ceiling (no cove lights) almost all of them giving the same price $900 +- The reason i don't like cove lights because i know it is the place that will collect dust and dead lizards.. Thanks Neoby! I'll go and have a look. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. The next shopping trip i will be careful not to buy bulb that is fixed to light holder. I am planning to look for light holders which can support both LED and energy saving bulbs.
  17. Really? I will contact him and see if i can get a good deal for lights. I have estimated about $1k for lighting only.. is this too much or too little?
  18. Congrats Neoby! Your place is very cosy and nice.. You use a lot of white furniture but luckily your floor is not white.. it gives the cosy feel.
  19. Can you also PM me the price and place to get this chair? Thanks!
  20. Hi Neoby, Last week, we visited one of the houses my contractor did in the past and I saw the owner using track lights for the entire living room, so i was trying the lights and they look okay to me. Reason being he didn't use LED lights which are glaring to the eyes, he uses energy saving bulb only. Which is quite cheap around $15-$20. I also went to some shops in Jalan Besar to survey about the price. The track is about $15-$30 a meter depending on what type of track you choose. And the light holder is about $35 - $90. For the amount of lights i'm getting probably will cost less than $500, whereas the L-box and false ceiling will cost me about $900 not inclusive the cost of downlights.
  21. First Purchase Finally we purchased the first item for the house! A lamp for the foyer.
  22. Wow, the workers work super fast! I think you can surely move in early Hehehe.. Sometimes i worry my contractor will work too fast and i can't cope with the speed cos i am always indecisive and fickle minded!
  23. Thanks for the replies. Based on your comments, I think a row of track lights will be sufficient. Yeah! Money saved! Maybe i will get a floor lamp next to the sofa if i need to do some serious reading in the living.
