You want abs trimming for side panel from raise platform to ceiling? $100 pfr cannot do it cos some side panels are gigantic in size, much much more bigger than drawer doors or casement doors. Now you should understand why my kitchen cabinet is $300 pfr cos all the cabinets (shoe cabinet, storage cabinet, wardrobe, comm cabinet) at my place are abs trimming at all external side panels.

Those that cannot do abs trimming will see the black colored base of the laminate, unless you are rich enough to use solid core laminate which can be quite limited to color and design. Personally i will select laminate that can do trimming and provide specific instructions to carpenter on how to custom made my feature wall or console, including the use of soft closing hinges and drawer tracks.

no need, if you're going to hack everything and rebuild as new, the reno process will make it unlivable for major insects except termite which has to be exterminate by pest control expert. Minor bed bugs (just a few) is ok, unless it is a major infestation under the laminate then need to call in the expert.
