  1. Next BUT came swift and fast. One of the parquet skirting on the 2nd floor was infested with ants. And 3rd floor toilet had a cockroach infestation! Eeeeks! Well, I guessed a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.... May_dream1, help! I need some of that magic chalk!
  2. Today was a hectic day. So many contractors came. I dun even know who is who. First to arrive was the pest control guy from RENTOKILL. He took some time to go through the house before telling me that there is no termite activities... Phew... BUT (there's always a but, isn't it?), one of the door frame was previously infested. Luckily owner treated it before the whole frame got gnawed off. Coincidentally the previous owner dropped by that evening and I asked him about the frame. He said he didn't even know about it. Oh oh, then where did all the termites go??!!
  3. KEY COLLECTION DAY :sport-smiley-004: Appointment at 2:30pm. I still had time to catch a movie at 12:10pm. Movie ended at 2:15pm and I have to fly down to the lawyer's office. Reached there at 2:40pm, and the legal secretary handed this bunch to me. "So which key opens the main door??" I asked. She shrugged..."I guessed you'd have to try out everything." Thanks hor... What surprises me was that the original pouch by CDL was still available. That must have been at least 18 years old and passed down 2 owners before me. So I said my bye and flew down to my house. Donny was already there waiting for me. Inserted the key, opened the front door.. and......... ............. ........................ ................ ............ ......... THE ALARM WENT OFF!!! Some welcome huh!! Panicked, I called the agent, who promised to give me the owner's number (not before laughing at me though). Called the owner and nobody picked up. All this time, the alarm continued blaring in the background with all its ferocity. After what seemed like an eternity, the alarm stopped. Donny's contractor switched off the power mains....okay, take note... that's theft 101. Tomorrow is the BIG day. Finally my reno is going to start Stay tuned!
  4. 2:30pm!!!! The lawyer said earliest I can collect my keys is 2:30pm tomorrow!! Put me out of my misery already!!
  5. I am eagerly counting down to 01 Aug. Finally I can smell the keys to my house. First thing I am gonna do after collecting my keys??? Use the front porch to wash my car! HAhahaha
  6. We bought our TV today! Wasn't really looking to buy today, though we were looking for a 55" one for the living room. Went to Gain City at Marina and the next thing we knew...was that we had signed up for this Model is LG 55LM6410. Well, we had always bought Samsung TVs. This is our first LG one. Hopefully it turns out well. What clinches it for me was the fact that it was $700 cheaper than a same-spec Samsung TV. Plus the 3D glasses were alot better. Hope this turns out to be the right decision
  7. Finally, after 3 weeks and many trips to the tile shops ourselves, we have finally confirmed all the tiles for the whole house. Unfortunately in our haste, I'd actually forgotten to take pictures! And I spent the most on yard tiles at $8.30psf! Hahahha.
  8. Not only that. I've discovered scratches and tears on my sofa, scratches on my piano and my bed was assembled wrongly.
  9. Was at Balastier the other day to eat the famous yong taufu. Saw this lighting shop and popped inside to take a look. Really like this piece of lighting very much... but it's probably very dark and dunno which room should it go into..
  10. I just shifted out using helping hands and the whole experience shocked me. They came into my house with shoes on, push and stack stuff onto the trolleys inside my house and drag my sofa around trying to dismantle it. Needless to say, they left alot of scratches on my marble and parquet floorings. I am definitely not using them again when moving into my new house. But I want to know which movers will take off shoes and dun use trolleys inside your house? The only item I would probably allow use of trolley is the piano, but I expect them to lay some protect for my floor. Is this reasonable?
  11. Your windows are huge. Curtains will look nicer.
  12. But seriously, can't they lay cardboard or something? Trolley is one thing but the way they tilt the trolley and then drop it down with a bang. My heart skips a beat every time they did that. Are there movers who will lay cardboard before pushing the trolleys in? I seriously Dunn want that when moving in. My wife is also saying maybe we should move ourselves!
  13. Today we moved out from our current place. It was the first time we've used movers. I must say it was a bit of a shock. They just came into the house, shoes, trolleys and everything. I appreciate the speed they do things but can see all the marks on the marbles after that. I dun think I would want this when I am shifting into my new house. Is this the norm? Can I request for them to take off shoes and no trolleys inside the house?
  14. Oh mine is a private property. Actually I am keen so long as the cpf monies can be disbursed on time. Just wondering why it still needs 15 working days in this day and age.
  15. MBR Toilet Just feels that something is lacking. Understand that ID wants a resort theme...but just feel that something is not right. Don't really like the curvy shelving above the WC too...How?
  16. TV Console Still undecided about this. Somehow felt that there's too much black, though I must admit that the black gives it a touch of class. I have asked for another 3D whereby the black and white are reversed. I want to see how that will turn out, before deciding.
  17. Well, it's been a while since the last update. We have been busy packing lately as we need to vacate our current place on 11 Jul. However, amidst all the packing, we squeezed out some time to look at a few more 3D drawings. We welcome any feedback that can help us improve our house Study Room (created out of the hacked away MBR toilet) We really love this look. However, we have asked for a slight amendment to the side facing the window. We wanted that piece to be wider as we use our laptops with a monitor. That piece will have no drawers too as my wife likes to sit cross-legged so drawers get in the way.
  18. Guess luck plays an important part. Wish you all the best. Don't give up.
  19. My seller is trying to bring forward the completion by 1 week. The sale of my home is scheduled to complete on 11 Jul and thereafter I will need to use the CPF monies credited back to fund my purchase, which is scheduled to complete 01 Aug. The seller is now requesting completion on 22 Jul (which has 10 calendar days from 11 Jul). I was told by my lawyer that this is not possible because CPF monies need 5 days from 11 Jul to be credited back to my account and thereafter he needs 10 days to apply for usage of those monies for my new property. I would like to know if this is true because it is kinda long and not to mention strange that things have to be done in sequence, ie can't they put in the application first? Would appreciate any advice here. Thanks.
  20. Living/Dining/Dry Kitcen/Yard We've always wanted a warm look for our living room, hence after much deliberation have decided not to go with the ID's recommendation. Though I must really say his recommended tile does look nice and have the WOW factor. But it's too cold for us. Sorry Donny As there is no split between my living room, dining room and dry kitchen, I will lay them all with the same tiles to have that expansive (not expensive ) look. We are also very sure we wanted wood grain tiles for the yard area, but has yet to decide on the tone of the grains. I'd prefer darker wood whereas my wife prefers lighter ones. Overall Living/Dining/Dry Kitchen Sink Stove (wet kitchen) Yard tiles (not decided yet) Left with 2 more toilets yet to select! Headache, headache!!!
  21. Okay, after 2 days of tiles selection, we have finally confirmed some tiles. Looks like we are making progress after all! Level 1 Toilet As the level 1 toilet is very small, we basically wanted white walls so that it will look more spacious. However, it will be very plain if it's all white, hence we have chosen a more blackish tile for the back wall behind the WC, for effect. Overall WC feature wall Rest of walls It's probably hard to see but there's some horizontal streaks on the tiles for patterns Floor We tried a few but it's really important that the tiles are not slippery. We took back all the samples, run water through them and tested. Finally we came to this!
  22. Looks like we will be going for another round of tiles selection TODAY as well as Monday. Living room tile is a dilemma now. On the left is what the ID liked and they said the WOW factor is there. On the right is what we like because it is more warm and cosy in feel. How?
