  1. hi everyone, would like to get some advice here... i am thinking of changing my kitchen door. my kitchen door is a swing type tempered glass door. i find it a bit dangerious because the wind here is so strong that it will slam shut the door sometimes. Even a door wedge cannot prevent this, especially at this time when the wind is the strongest. i want to change it to a sliding door. can fellow JMers post pic of their kitchen doors and contacts for the contractors? thanks! here's a pic of my kitchen door...
  2. hi xlan! i thot those curvy edges are becos the ceiling and wall are not entirely straight?? i also got a similar problem... the kitchen wall corner is more than 90 degree, and the solid surface fabricator said the solid surface will also be slanted...
  3. hi nemofc, no, never pass to them the keys for main door and gate... if u already have engaged an ID/contractor, u can loan from him/her a number padlock... otherwise, can go ntuc to buy one, about $5... then, u just need to write down the padlock number on the defect list...
  4. oh dear! hope hdb will rectify everything asap... i think sometime ago Straits Times had a news article of a similar incident elsewhere...
  5. i also got something to complain!!! the solid surface fabricator told me the corner in the kitchen wall is not 90 deg, so the solid surface will be slanted becos it must follow the wall otherwise there will be a gap.... but a slanted solid surface will also look weird mah...
  6. the packaging is printed with "Made in Austria", BLUM's home country....
  7. it's here their showroom is inside a building just besides Ubi Driving Centre... the building also houses the Fisher and Paykel showroom...
  8. i saw on blum website that there are two kinds of these anti-slam device for casement door... one type is fixed at the top, the other type is attached to the hinge... i find the fixed-to-the-top type not very effective but it is cheap, like what gadgetgal said, $20 for a bunch at IKEA... the attached-to-hinge type is much better and must be used with a particular kind of hinge... u can actually see the door closing slowly... last time i called BLUM and they said it costs about $5 per piece... IKEA is also selling this BLUM anti-slam thing at $10 per pair and the hinge at $9 per pair... since it is slightly cheaper, i bought from IKEA... total costs me abt $100... ... but the runners and hinges sold by IKEA are actually from BLUM... the BLUM logo is embossed onto the metal body of the runner tracks and hinges...
  9. anyone have used the Caprice brand of roller or roman blinds from Spotlight?? especially the dual layer kind, one thin layer as day shade and another thicker layer for nite shade... any feedbacks?? thanks!
  10. spotlight having sales starting tmr till end of year... thinking of getting their double layer blinds... width 150cm height 210cm costs $120-$130 after discount... 2 pieces will be just nice to for the LR windows... the blinds can be mounted onto the ceiling of the recess, so will more or less look flushed with the recess... but it won't be perfectly flushed cos the recess is curved... btw, JC Penny also having sales on blinds and curtains...
  11. check out this forum... HWZ forum on panny plasma initially, panny offered $500 vouchers for all models... then got rumors that free vouchers would go up to $800... this is only partly correct... the high end models went up to $800, but lower end model (42PV7) went down to $300 then to $200 then to $100.... i think prices for the 42" plasma did not change during this period...
  12. the RAAN mirror is alumimium/glass... never will rust!
  13. i also thought the offer could get only better, so i kept waiting and waiting... wrong choice! back in june/july, 42PV7 and 41PV70 came with $500 vouchers i think... later reduced to $200... now even less for 42PV7
  14. i guess for the rod system, the more feasible way is onto the wall... thanks for ur idea of the two-rod method for the living room... probably will be using that...
  15. hi! do u guys intend to mount the rod holders outside of the recess (onto the wall) or inside the recess (onto either the ceiling of the recess or the window frame)??
  16. 42PV7 now only free $100 NTUC voucher! just last week, it was $200 vouchers...
  17. btw, when u guys bought ur plasma tv and opted for wall mounting, do u still get the tv stand?? is it a case of either the wall mounting or the tv stand, but not both?
  18. i recall the quote is $5.60 psf... total area is abt 150 sq ft, so total price is about $840. ya, the top hung window part is not covered... cos the grille is mainly for safety reason, so just covering the middle part is sufficient... the top hung part is too small for people to climb out of... also it is cheaper this way, cos the total cost of window grille is calculated on a per sq ft (psf) basis...
  19. hi citygas water heater users! did u guys send out your warranty card to Rinnai?? i've been trying to call citygas gallery for the past two days to ask them this question, but the line is perpetually busy...
  20. hi squashy, i think those guidelines are only for external grilles at the service yard/balcony... hdb guidelines for external window grilles as our grilles are internal grilles, these guidelines do not apply to us...
  21. some pics to share sink/stove support window grilles
  22. hi cindy! thanks! saw the pics! are the curtain rod holders fixed to the window frame and not to the concrete wall?? how are the rods made to fit the curve profile of the windows?? i am at a lost what to do with the curved windows, which are also recessed into the wall... thanks!
  23. hi alpha, i think fire-rated door has a piece of steel plate embedded within the door... the main door has that steel plate and it is quite visible.... so it should be a fire-rated door... as for the bedrooms' and toilets' doors, seems like dun have steel plates inside, so most prob are not fire-rated doors...
