  1. Hi, very pretty table and matching bench, goes well with your theme !
  2. Mega DIscount Store (Part 2) Washing machine: We actually wanted a Bosch. However, the model we wanted is Made in China, and the Parisilk salesman actually recommended a new 8kg washer from Electrolux. Though it is made in Thailand, I'm sure their QC is much better. (no 偷工减料) Most importantly, it is 400 cheaper than a Made in China Bosch. Fridge: We were looking towards getting a F&P as it was 1 of the nicer ones and our previous F&P had served us well. But we were told that F&P's quality has gone downhill over the years (China made) and were thus strongly dissuaded from buying it. The salesman also showed us the rubber seals (whatever u call it), and the interior. Finishing is indeed very bad as compared to last time. We were recommended a Hitachi : Soundbar: Wife dissuaded me into getting the Yamaha 2200, as she foresee that it will be under utilised. I agree with this, as our previous Bose Lifestyle dunno what model was used less than 5 times, and it broke down. Was recommended the Samsung 751, as the salesman from MDS claimed that the sound quality is comparable to the Yamaha . Anyway, we purchased it as it wasn't that expensive :
  3. Mega Discount Store (Part 1) We actually thought of purchasing our appliances and TVs etc from Courts/Denki/Gain City, and were quite skeptical of Mega Discount Store ("MDS"), until Lawrenceke mentioned it somewhere in his t-blog. Many thanks to him for this good find. We didn't have an enjoyable experience in Courts, and since there was a road show by MDS, we decided to pop down to take a look. As with CityGas, we ended up buying all our electrical stuff from MDS on our first visit! This was quite unexpected as we did not want to purchase our items this quickly. I guess their excellent service and MDS being able to match prices of the heartland shops made it easier for us to part with the money! What we bought:- TV for living: We were never a fan of Korean stuffs and wanted Sony/Panasonic, however we checked with Parisilk, and MDS and both recommended Samsung. TV (x2) for Dining and MBR :
  4. Hi If you wanna go for branding, nothing beats miele. But I personally think that electrolux is a smart choice.
  5. Hi MrMerry, We drove to Mustafa this afternoon, and looking at the human traffic, we've decided to abandon our mission. Thereafter went parisilk and mega discount store, but they don't bring in Yamaha sound bar. Good choice for your tv by the way. Very sleek looking !
  6. Might be going down mustafa to check out the price. Will update here. I actually thought of the YHTS401, but aesthetic wise, the 2200 is better. I'm not an audiophile, but am looking for something reasonably good, and I think Yamaha fits in.
  7. Morning mrmerry My hubby is interested in the Yamaha sound bar. He asked how much you're paying for it. Thanks!
  8. Thank you so so much for the info!!
  9. Hi Everything is so so nice!! Btw you mentioned black rods for your utensils. Do you mind sharing where you got them from? Been looking for it but I can't seem to find any. Thanks!!
  10. Hi Mr.Merry, Like what my wife said, oil and stains will be stuck in the rubber groove area. And the rubber that seals the pan falls off quite easily . She likes the Philips air fryer, but it looks too healthy for me. Healthy and delicious don't coexist
  11. I like the night pic! Lol Btw mr merry - which air fryer looks easier to clean? The Philips or Mayer? I am still waiting for the gss and hopefully the price will drop even more
  12. Hi There was a smeg advert in sat's life. Think if u buy the hob hood and oven u get a free set of pots and cooking classes by some chef..they din state the price though
  13. Hi MK. It's the "hubby" here. We have not really tried Comet on algaes stuck to grout lines. However, Comet doesn't scratch tiles as compared to conventional cleaners like "Cif", which has tiny scrubbing particles.
  14. Hi mk I think it works? My old toilet had white grout lines too. If all else fails get Chlorox toilet bleach( can't rem the exact name - need to go home check). Managed to get rid of algae and made my old toilet as good as new!
  15. I dunno if it is just me.. Happycall is good as the oil and fumes are contained within and as such the kitchen is less greasy. However, I have a huge problem cleaning the grooves (where the rubber is). I have my sights on the philips air fryer though as it looks easier to clean...
  16. Hi, I recommend Comet. It's powerful and rinses off easily. We've tried most toilet cleaners, and Comet is still the best. Can be found in Cold Storage. Seems like ntuc doesn't carry it.
  17. Hi MK, 15k is a lot. If I approached Alan I'd go for him too! Anyway don't worry too much re your reno. 船到桥头自然直. Sorry tech dummy here. Don't know how to multi quote...
  18. Hi jaykr30 to 35k is really alot! We actually thought there was a typo haha! we asked him too re the quote for our floor tiles ( as it was higher than that quoted by IDs). He explained to us that it was due to the labour costs and workmanship involved for wood tiles.
  19. Cooker hob, hood & oven purchase: We knew we wanted a Rinnai cooker hob after all the rave reviews and decided to go down to CItyGas to check it out. Unfortunately, the "checking out" turned out to be a purchase decided and made within 30 mins due to the persistent sales auntie. Being lazy people, we decided to get the hood and hob from Rinnai. And since my mum and I ( i aspire to be Heston Blumenthal) use the oven occasionally, we purchased the oven, hood and hob all from Rinnai. Before city gas we actually went to Mayer to look at Ariston. However, we felt that it wasn't worth the price.
  20. Hi, Just to confirm, is the difference between Alan and mr k 40k ? 40k is way too much
  21. Yah..just feel sore about being "cheated" haha
