  1. Hey Sarah, Didn't change the sofa. That sofa you see is in our living room on the first floor. Our IKEA PS sofa is on the 2nd floor in our bedroom, at the study area. Didn't get the beige/blue one though! We got the beige/white one. Will load the 2nd floor pictures soon!
  2. Thank you Makan! Will post pictures of level 2 soon! Thanks ProjectH!
  3. Moving towards the living room, at the under-the-stairs storage and built-in bookshelf. The under-the-stairs storage (which we are very grateful for). Our Living Room (posted before).
  4. Now that the magazine is out, I can finally load the pictures here Starting with the first thing we see when we come home everyday: The Kitchen. The service yard area, where our laundry is done.
  5. Hahaha, looks like my ID understands me well Thank you, Vanessa! Hope all's going well on your end! Hahaha, faints. Have not gotten a copy yet. Shall look for one later.
  6. Oh really, it's out? We thought they decided not to feature us because we didn't hear from them at all after the photoshoot. Hahaha Thanks for the support, NSW! Thank you too, zihui! I shall go find one on the racks after work too Thank you, greglhc! I haven't seen it yet, wonder what they wrote if they didn't ask us a single question (if they wrote anything at all)
  7. You can get such gates at pet shops. Pet Lovers Centre has them
  8. Definitely keep it as a toilet. Many people want one downstairs but don't have one because it's originally a wash area only. So since the previous owner had already converted it, you should definitely keep it as a toilet. I don't have guests come over very often, but it's proven convenient to have a toilet downstairs. All the best for your reno!
  9. Haha, more welcomes. Welcome to the maisonette group! Like most others have shared, 40k is going to be really tough. If you plan to do the bathrooms, make sure you get that part done before you move in. My place was undergoing bathroom renovations when we were buying the place from the previous owner, and boy was it messy. It was a nightmare visiting the place during the bathroom upgrading works. Things like air-con, built-in stuff, walls and flooring must be done too. We overhauled our EM a few months ago. Couldn't keep to the budget at all All the best!
  10. Welcome to the maisonette club! We have an open kitchen too but we didn't get a hood, because the hoods we've had so far have proven useless. We don't cook much either, so we didn't see a need for one. So far, we've had no issues with cooking smells in the house. But that's probably because we rely heavily on the air fryer and mainly only cook soups and stews on our hob All the best with renovation!
  11. Thanks celztang! Not entirely sure if it's coming out at all though, haven't heard from the H&D people after they came for the photoshoot Will load the other pictures soon though!
  12. Might be more effective to call yourself! But all the best! We got it from Like That One. It was $180, if I remember correctly. They may not always have vintage chests though, so just call them to check before you go down
  13. Hahaha, just do the typical Singaporean thing and make a fuss The HDB officer in charge refused to budge and we asked to speak to his supervisor (because he kept saying he's just following instructions). We stressed that their floorplan clearly shows that the wall is not structural (no thick bold line), and that there's no beam above. Actually, come to think of it, we didn't plan to hack the whole wall. We only inserted a window. So we asked why we would need a PE if all HDBs have windows in walls anyway (hahaha). Your case may be different since you're hacking the whole thing. But I know others have done it before without PE, so you could try Which vintage stuff?
  14. Nope. Our permit for hacking that wall was denied. And then our ID advised us to engage a PE. But we went with renotalkers' advice and called the HDB officer ourselves. The whole episode dragged for 2 weeks before we finally got the hacking approved
  15. Haha, thank you oreo! A bit lazy la. But will load the newer pictures that my IDs photographer took once I can. Yup, they come in very nice colors!
  16. Our outdoor decking costs about 4k. We didn't level our balcony. Our ID suggested we sort of "extend" our balcony into the living room, which explains why it looks like the wooden decking is levelled (there's still a slight drop down) Our EM's balcony is a little different from most EMs that have a recessed rectangular balcony, so the rain can really get in if it's heavy. Levelling it full might cause flooding if it's extreme weather The one that took forever to approve was the hacking of the bedroom wall on the 2nd floor, directly above the stairs.
  17. Dulux, Gentle Tide, 90GY 63/047. I super liked it too Thank you mishmish! Will load more pictures soon It's a pouf! Something like a stool, but not as hard or structured as one. The shop had many many colors, and we bought 2. They totally help to add a pop of color in the house
  18. Thank you thank you I think it's coming out in August, not sure if it really is though! Good job on adopting! But you're going to have a big headache soon once they start breeding. It's going to be a mess. Should always get the same gender unless they're sterilised. I super like the balcony area too. I love all things made of wood, gives a very... cosy feeling
  19. Hahaha, wait, HDB right? Oops, your neighbour has violated a law. Ssh
  20. Sorry for the spam of comments, heh I see many IKEA things in this picture! Good choice
  21. Technically, as long as the floorplan doesn't show a bold black line, the wall is hackable. But like some renotalkers here have mentioned, there may be a beam on top of that technically hackable wall, so it means you can't hack the whole thing and must leave the beam untouched. We had so much trouble getting HDB to approve one wall that was clearly hackable - no bold black line, no beam. HDB officer insisted we had to get a PE to endorse. Quite a few renotalkers here advise that HDB officers give less trouble when homeowners call themselves to "make noise". We got the officer's number from our ID and called him ourselves. After some to and fro (and much insisting that it makes no sense we pay a few hundreds just to hack a wall that obviously can be hacked), it worked! No PE needed. Wall hacked. Of course, it depends on whether you want to call yourself to make a fuss
  22. Hahaha, make sure you sterilise your chins before you mix them together!! Or you'll have an even bigger headache when they breed Adopting is the way to go! But you've already got two chins, which live a loong time. Maybe you want to wait a while before deciding on another lifetime commitment
