  1. thanks Lucy! If you are not in a hurry to move in, then I think it's good to take time to carefully consider what you really like. There are so many nice designs out there but only one chance to get it right due to budget. I will pm you the contacts. I didn't customize the chairs bcos I'm not willing to spend much on chairs. I also don't want my chairs to be solid wood. Still searching for suitable chairs... I can't define what is suitable but I will know when I see it...
  2. hello! hahaha....so you are the one! Cant wait to see your place, especially the tap! Will be fun decorating with vintage industrial stuff.
  3. Oh dear.. Are you in a hurry? He is always busy thinking about how to come up with smth unique for each of his clients...
  4. hi, i explored that option..but the bottom of the legs is quite small.. not sure if you can find a small castor that can take the weight of the table. anyway, the height of the table is just nice for my countertop now. if i add wheels, it will be too high, looks a bit strange.i prefer it to blend in with my cabinets.
  5. Don't worry.. I think most of us went through this stage. I was very fickle too! Till now, I'm still thinking of doing more things. This afternoon, I saw a pix of a kitchen cabinet done by my ID. It was soooo nice! You can check out his Facebook page.. It's the house belonging to the 'awesomely chic couple'. https://www.facebook.com/custom.box.sg? ref=ts&fref=ts My ID said he is customizing the kitchen faucet for the homeowner. I'm so envious!! I actually asked my ID how come he didn't suggest this design to me. I'm holding him 'responsible' now! Wish I could change my kitchen cabinet. Haha!
  6. Hi everyone, after a series of small DIY projects that turned out quite well, I decided to do smth bigger and more ambitious. but it turned out to be a big mistake. My latest DIY project almost drove me crazy because it was soooo tedious and soooo boring. I literally pulled out my hair while doing it and I almost wanted to strangle myself with the measuring tape Well, remember those plywood pieces I bought recently? I decided to make a wall feature above my sofa. First, I had to stain the plywood, which was actually the easy part. The first obstacle was having to saw some pieces into half. I bought a saw from Daiso as I didn't want to pay for a proper saw because this would probably be the first and last time Im sawing wood. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr It doesn't take a genius to know that a $2 saw wouldn't work as well as a real, professional saw. It was truly a toy saw! You know how sawing works right? Basically you push the saw forward, then pull it back and push it forward again. But for this toy saw, I can only pull it backwards but I cant push it forward!! This means that I can't do the normal sawing motion but can only keep 'slicing' the wood backwards! What a joke!! It was truly a test of my patience. So many times I was on the verge of giving up bcos the task was taking a doubly long time. But given that I had already bought the materials, I had no choice but to press on. Finally after a few nights of 'work outs', I managed to finish sawing the wood. Amazingly, the pieces were quite neat, even though I was half 'slicing' and half breaking the wood (and pls ignore my rainbow shoes) photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr If sawing was tough, the next step was the hair-tearing part that made me want to swear off all DIY projects. It involved marking out the position of each piece of plywood and mounting them on the wall with adhesive tape. It was SUPER TEDIOUS and SUPER MONOTONOUS! And I realized for the first time in my life that Im lousy in measurement! it was super boring that I had to go watch tv or surf the internet after measuring each piece. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Finally in line.... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr It took me several days to get this task done because i kept having to re-do as the plywood pieces were not straight. Now I have a phobia of the measuring tape. (to be continued...)
  7. Hi flowerfans.. The ikea table is useful but it's hard to move around bcos there are no wheels.. I can only move it one inch at a time
  8. Some top floor 3 room flats in the west have very high ceilings.
  9. I stumbled upon this cool website which has 59 types of brick walls in homes. . Brick walls do not need to be white and they can be in any part of the house, not just in living room. If you are considering brick walls for your place, do consider some of these designs and colors. Be adventurous!.... BE DIFFERENT!! http://www.digsdigs.com/59-cool-interiors-with-exposed-brick-walls/
  10. Nevermind lah... Now you have upperhand.. Next time if you want to buy more shoes or hello kitty, he can't say no..hahaha.. He is held 'hostage' now...
  11. Your hubby will be the envy of his buddies, who will think you are such a fabulous wife! Clap, clap!
  12. You can try looking for the handles on etsy.
  13. My parents had this green phone many years ago ! So nostalgic!
  14. Haha...! I dont have many bags now bcos I spring clean while packing for the big move and also 'forgot' some stuff in my parents' place. I made shelvings for my bags and bedsheets. Here's a pix. The top shelve is empty bcos I'm too lazy to stand on a chair to reach it. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  15. Yup, I saw there are smaller pieces. The one I bought is the biggest - about 45cm by 12 cm.
  16. Hi heavenlyn, long time no 'see'.. ! Ya, people are curious about newcomers, esp. If they are women who live alone. Makes me wonder if people are also curious about men who live alone..
  17. Yesterday was a no-cleaning, no-DIY and no-cooking day for me. Yes, I'm slave to my home and I'm at its beck and call! So i decided yesterday should be a ME-day and what better way than to go shopping and eat yummy food. I had 'bak chor mee' for both breakfast and dinner (pure indulgence!), bought shoes and one set of quilt cover and pillow cases. I'm most pleased with the quilt cover and pillow cases because the prints match the prints on my vintage paper very well (if you still remember my vintage paper). It was discounted as it was the last set left and the price was incredibly cheap! how lucky! I will post some pix when I next change my quilt cover but here's a shot taken in the shop. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr And just as I was happily shopping, I came across some wooden boards in Daiso. I couldn't resist taking a second look because they were so nice and clean. But inside my head, an alarm went off and a voice kept telling me 'no more DIY'!! It was a tug-of-war between the rational me and the home-slave me. Well in the end, the home slave won and l lugged home a pile of pseudo wood even though I had no idea what to do with it (I fall into the category of buy-now-worry- later). So here's my irrational purchase. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr All these went into my huge pink shopping bag with my shoes and quilt cover Sometimes Im amazed by how much my life has changed in the one year since I signed on the OTP. Now instead of doing simple DIY on clothes, bags and shoes, I'm tackling bigger home DIY with my limited skills. Now I like browsing in hardware shops, as much as I like grocery shopping and going for high tea and art exhibitions. I like girly stuff as much as I like wood and pipes. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr My fren thinks I'm a confused person but I would say I'm happily confused...
  18. It's usually used at the corner of computer/study desk. The wires are slotted through the hole and plugged to the power point. Neater this way. In my case, I used it on my tv console.
  19. I will just bring along the sample and show them. Any idea how much it costs?
  20. Thank you!! I asked so many people but no one knew. Thanks again!
  21. hello, need help! does anyone know where i can buy a desk grommet? I went to quite a number of shops including hardware shops but no one sells it. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
