  1. Actually my DIY stuff didn't take up much time. most of them were really easy and i did them to relieve stress. Im trying to juggle too many things and hence, the renovation's got to be slow. And if i make a career swtich later this year, i can say bye bye to my housewarming in Dec. hahaha...
  2. so you will have only one month or less to complete the furnishing in time for housewarming? I collected my keys in jan this year and im targeting housewarming in dec! Almost one year later! It will be really embarrassing if i hold my housewarming on the one-year anniversary in Jan
  3. hi greg, thanks! The end product looks quite different actually. It will look very good against a red brickwall... Unfortunately im not willing to spend so much on a brick wall. so got to make do with white wall.
  4. thanks! i used to be a closet admirer of industrial design and didnt think i would have the guts to have industrial elements in my home decor. but nowadays im seeing more industrial design in cafes and shops.. that kind of motivated me to use pipes in my decor...and of course my ID is 'bad influence'...
  5. some knick knacks..but nothing fanciful or else will steal the limelight from the shelves.
  6. Pipe shelves - installation Some overdue pix of my pipe shelves in the raw, yet to be painted state. photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr [/url photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr photo.JPG by http://www.flickr.com/people/98 394563@N08/]BachelorettePad, on Flickr The shelves and pipes were painted today and the result is SIMPLY AMAZING!! The pine wood shelves now have a dark, vintage look with beautiful grains and the pipes are nicely 'rusted' (yes, rust can be beautiful). The entire structure complements my dining table very well. Will take pix soon and post them here.
  7. Me too! And we don't have to worry if we accidentally topple over the bottles of sauces or spices bcos Vanessa's countertop won't stain! Hahaha..!
  8. I knew you were itching to blog! Can share pix of your purchases too.
  9. Just do it! i can tell that you can't wait to blog about your new place! I dont think Mr F will let you down. He knows his reputation is at stake since we can blog about it. heh heh
  10. you can create a blog now and document your pre-reno process (decision making, purchases etc). the folks at RT can give you ideas and suggestions. i must say you are way ahead of time, since your reno is starting only in dec. im quite sure you will keep changing your mind till dec ..... And im very sure your reno is in good hands...: )
  11. Hi redder, have pm-ed u. Do u have a tblog? Will love to see your Reno pix
  12. haha! the shelf looks industrial on its own but when seen together with the other furniture and furnishing, it looks less industrial. i always joke that my decor is 'yiu siu industrial", not the hardcore industrial look
  13. Hello! I think the pix was taken in a store. His client showed him the pix and requested for his parents to customise a table with similar design. The pipes will be provided by a supplier. The carpenter just looks for a suitable wood, varnishes it and mounts it on the pipes. I have not seen such industrial table in his workshop so not sure how's the workmanship. May ask him to SMS me the finished product to kaypoh
  14. My furniture maker sms-ed me this pix. One of his clients is getting an industrial dining set customized. Fwd: WhatsApp image by BachelorettePad, on Flickr Really surprised by the range and number of furniture churned out in their tiny workshop.
  15. How come painter and door vanisher said no? What is so difficult about the job?
  16. All ready to receive the new addition in the house .... photo.JPG by BachelorettePad, on Flickr
  17. Hi missy, hope you are not feeling too stressed over reno...keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you! Im sure yours will turn out okay.
  18. Hello zihui, I can't wait to see the completed shelves too! I want to hang reindeers on the pipes during Xmas...(my ID will freak out)
  19. Hello projectH, all these things that Ive done or are doing could have been done within one reno, but I've split them up into stages. With only one brain, one savings account and very limited energy, I got to prioritize the things I want to do for my home. And I tend to consider for a long time before I decide on doing smth bcos I'm the only decision maker and if anything goes wrong, I have only myself to blame. So everything is done slowly and hence gives the impression that my Reno is never-ending. it's been really very difficult juggling all these things and I have lost count of the number of times I have fallen sick since I collected my keys. Sometimes I just don't feel like doing anything bcos I'm physically and mentally exhausted. But the end is near.... Because the pocket is empty.. Hahaha!
  20. Hi Simplehuman, i wish mine was that clear cut. I actually agreed with the town council guy that there were a few areas that could potentially be the cause of the leakage. After the aircon guy came to do the patching, it rained twice and the stains didnt seem like they worsened. I just painted the walls this morning and i hope i wont see any more stains when it next rain. fingers crossed!
