  1. The electrician came down to fix up so lights so today's post will be on lighting This is the light at the entrance of the mbr toilet. This is the reading room light , switched on and off We have a simple light for our mbr toilet And this is the fanco ceiling fan we are putting up in both rooms upstairs.
  2. Our poor carpenter painstakingly measuring , cutting , glueing and nailing this thing together..... This took nearly an hour!! More work done by carpenter!
  3. And this is how our wardrobe doors will look like. This will be mine.....a little small This will belong to my lovely wife's! This is just a portion of her wardrobe. And her favourite part....... This HUGE , full height mirror!!
  4. On a brighter note , the carpenters came over the weekend and fixed up quite a number of stuff. Now we can see how the window will fit The view of the window frame from the staircase. How it looks like from inside the room. and yes that is the carpenter measuring the length for the wood trimmings.
  5. So they have just installed the iQuartz for our bar counter. Loving the iQuartz....but not very happy with the whole look. Seems a little too 'flat' as everything is black from the quartztop to the laminate. Not happy ..... thinking of changing the laminates to a wooden grain one. What do you guys think? The iquartz w the laminate Close up of the iQuartz. I like the quartz itself. Their brand name that they stuck on the quartz.....Odd..... This is how it looks like completed with the black reflective glass. So basically on top it is a black glass , followed by a black iQuartz and then the whole wooden frame is covered with black laminate. Didnt seem like such a bad idea then but now that it is fixed up , it looks kinda .... i don't know how to put it.... not nice?
  6. Haha hope we don't screw it up cos i am so fickle-minded about stuff and have such a bad taste in co-ordinating colors ..... and furniture.....and decor.....
  7. We have one too It is absolutely stunning ! u definitely have to get one!!
  8. Hi pokz1981 , yes we hacked the previous masterbedroom wall and made it into a window. The previous owner has also installed a glass staircase for us. But we installed the rails ourselves as we were afraid of our parents slipping without a handrail. Thanks soonliew! yes the house condition is quite good but we still itchy finger and decided to do some renovations to it
  9. Thanks vanessa! have been silently following your progress and your house looks fantastic!! dream kitchen. i think my wife is drooling already. thanks lala . we like the color too so we are thinking of keeping the color without staining and to just apply a coat of matt varnish or protection. (dunno what the carpenter was saying). i like your idea of the very thin false ceiling! should have done it for my place.now we have a problem with the lightings haha , our id said it is a small issue too. but quite bummed as it was pretty obvious that the height is not exactly suited for an adult , so why do it in the first place ? oh well...
  10. So here is the picture of the primary school height vanity. Would have to bend over to wash my hand.....and im not even tall....... Storeroom door under staircase pending change. The white laminate has always sticked out like a sore thumb. And oddly , the door doesnt flush nicely against the wall as can be seen from the gap on both ends. New MBR's wall finally flushed. Originally had a small recess so if i placed my bed there , there will be a gap on one side. Handrail installed for the stair case. Happy with the color of the wood ! So we requested for the color to be retained and to just leave a coat of protective varnish that doesnt gloss.
  11. Work has stopped a while. Making me quite sad as seeing the reno so close to completion but deadline like getting further. So frustrating. Our id has also placed our mbr vanity sink quite low. We went to the house at night and were quite surprised at the height. It seems like a primary school sink. Id was v cool about adjusting it , but it means that we would have to wait even longer for it to be completed. Bummers...........
  12. haha , hopefully it will be comfortable for queen n king. my wife and i are both couch potatoes. Unfortunately the delivery has been delayed until end of nov....we are probably going to be more gypsy (sitting on the floor to watch tv) rather then royalties......
  13. For now , the carpentry has started!! Cabinets waiting to be fixed and moved upstairs. One of the cabinets for my wife's WIW!! My bookshelves! Bar counter taking shape Another view of the bar counter. From the staircase
  14. Haha , somehow i love it too!! hopefully it will look and feel good when they finally deliver it.
  15. We like the Victorian kind of design , so we set about finding our furniture . But the shops that sell this kind of design are so expensive. We were rather disheartened and even thought of going to malaysia to search. Until we found this online furniture shop. And we loved it. Although it was a bit difficult contacting them but we managed to view some pieces in their tiny half shop showroom here and we thought the quality was not bad considering the price so we went for it. The Sofa we chose : The chaise that we bought on the spot. We initially wanted a normal lounge chaise but this single seater chaise seems so unique. A coffee table to match the sofa And finally this armchair. The moment my wife saw it , it was a done deal. Her fascination w pink.
  16. I hope you will not stop blogging here as i really love how you renovate and furnish your place. Really enjoy your posts on DIY and i think it puts alot of guys to shame ( me included definitely , i suck in technical classes ) . Anyways i think that the home furnishing process is lifelong! so just enjoy and im sure others (like me) enjoy reading your blog
  17. More work has been done! New masterbedroom toilet tiles are up! Balcony tiles are up too! Hole in the wall is plastered nicely now! Love how much light and ventilation it gives to the previously dark n stuffy staircase. in fact now when i switch on the fan in the living room , i can feel the wind upstairs in the room.
  18. Hi binchotan , The dimensions of the smeg is 1680(H) x 542(D) x 600(W)mm And yes there is a RC below my block Are you staying around there?
  19. Finally had time to upload the photos. So this post shall be more photos less words. Enjoy! Room ransacked! Toilet destroyed! Rooms torn down!! Hole in the wall!! Platform removed................... Thats all the hacking work done!
  20. Sorry for being missing in action! Was away in paris for photoshoot and then a short getaway in melbourne. haha. Still jet lagged. Cozydreams - we have no idea yet cos we have not moved in. Makanology - We considered the bigger one , but the previous owner had already built a space for the fridge and we do not want to change anything in the kitchen to save money juxstapose - hahaha , the color is very nice ! And we both love the retro look. Hopefully it is functional too. sleepybeauty - oooo , that is a dangerous color! haha but yes so lovely. and irresistable. We came back from paris and melbourne with alot more stuff!! Need to find time to take photos and put it up. zihui - Awww , my wife gave me a big big bookshelf and so she should have her own space too!!
  21. pinkyceline - we got it at 2650. i think courts is selling at 3400. retchlow - thanks for the welcome
  22. Blackpeace - we got it from unilite. nice guy called kevin or kelvin....forgot his name. haha. macuser77 - Our expected arrival date is also nov-dec. We are not in a rush to move in so it is ok with us. And i suppose auto defrosting is quite important as being a cockster i will probably forget to regularly defrost it.... Bitterbeemer - haha , the kitchen is the wifes domain. so she gets what she wants Makanology - Yes we ordered the 2nd larger sized one. Haha i was wondering about the same thing. But since its just the 2 of us at home , we thought we should be able to manage with the size....anyways my wife loves the look and the color so it probably doesnt matter how big it is inside for her! we are so unpractical in that way Yesterday night went to the house and it was in shambles! the workers work real fast. I'll post up pics when i get the time to upload it.
  23. Hacking finally starting today!! Over the weekend we did some shopping Pink Smeg for my wife! Went all the way down to jalan kayu to get it as the price is so much cheaper then courts and another store we saw in orchard. Getting the newer model that comes with auto defrosting. Then we pop by Courts as they were having a sale and got upsold to this LG 55LA6200 We initially wanted a smaller and cheaper tv with less functions but as usual ... we got upsold.
