  2. yea thanks.. i posted here not because i needed 3rd party interference actually.just asking advise. i cant say edmund is all bad or what.. just... maybe he didnt do everything in the house so... maybe tats why the problems.. taking out the carpenter portion- there were other aspects that i dun think was satisfactory as well. he keep insisting it was my carpenter giving him problems but i feel carpenter has been exceptionally accommodating him until i told carpenter to just ignore n do their work, because its me they should be answering to. the carpenter has been doing my house reno stuff on n off.. i dont think he is the problem... there is this air con pipe tat edmund insist his workers didnt cut off.. or the air con pipin guy didnt do.. but.. if i haven seen the piping myself, i might believe but sadly, i personally saw the piping AND.. i also personally didnt see the pipe when my carpenter went down to take measurements... i have to credit him for giving me a FOC piece of glass for my toilet vanity. i dun want to comments much until everything is done (which was initial intention until i need to ask for advise) and completed i guess.. wish me luck!
  3. hi samgalz, yea we r in the midst of sorting things just that im too busy to cme in here to update or edit. im sneakin out to do this cos my bf keeps telling me to take it out. so update later. kepping fingers crossed. im not saying he is all bad... but.. its just... well.
  4. yea sengkang --- adding on to my previous post--------- contractor and me have spoken and he mentioned that i have been unfair to him to post the painting comments . too tire to say the whole thing. all i can say is. im unlucky to choose white colour as the new colour and thus he can use the maxilite if i have choosen purple for my walls he will have no choice but to buy proper paint for my rooms and all problems will be solved. i think my fault is choosing white lor. initially we chose creamy white and he has painted the 1st coat of colour and it was too yellowish. so i told him to change and he told me to pay for the labour fee. but my bf told him his bath tub has made too high for us and we also didnt complain.. so contractor say ok just give n take each person.. he wil change the paint colour for us. 1 evening i asked him what paint is he gg to use... and he told me white paint only 1 type unless i want those high class type.. which r expensive. so i told him of course not la.. to be reasonable.. so he told me if its not those wash n wear or special kind then white paint only 1 type. so i ok.. and so... it starts like that. if only i have known the maxilite will fade with wet cloth.. i think.. at least i would have top up. and now i have to waste more time and more money to get the job done correctly. maybe not his fault. its my fault. my fault for choosing white and just trusting contractor advise too much, the reno is getting so turn off. im intending to just settle him and then the rest of painting, and also a tile chipped off (by dunno which worker tat throw things in the kitchen area, end up those things sort of chip off a tile), i rather get someone else to do it.
  5. finally back for awhile. the house has taken too long to be completed. things just wasnt as smooth as expected.will be posting the journey when im done with all the rubbish. edited- sorting things out at the moment with contractor keeping fingers crossed**

  9. hello all.. any updates on any 4d luck here? im always not lucky in this kind of things... ------------------------------------------------- updates- the 'closing' date for the quotes liao.. basically now, stil have some things to reconfirm with Edmund from DX and will shortlist already..... likely ...85% will be edmund... although jason from freshlook is also quite good... hopefully.... i can get my dream 'look' with my 'dream' budget... sigh... i have gone to furniture mall, ikea, courts to look for furniture... seems like.. those really nice ones are quite expensive...ironic... cos i just want very simple stuff.. dunno why simple stuff so expensive.... and sofa i dun wan full leather.. want pvc (against usin animal skin)... also so expensive.. weird.... -------------------------------------------- anyone have any suggestions anywhere else got alot of furniture to see? also.... is it better to buy washing machine from courts or those retailers? but retailers cannot be 0% instalment right? i knw alot of good lobang from t-blogs... but.. so much info... that my small brain really cluttered.... must make it a point to copy down.....trying to post my hse pics and dream look soon....

  11. hi tiler seng it is alright for u to reject me. but it would be better to talk sense. i am a contractor in disguise... ? correct... im actually the wife of phua chu kang.. and i have nothing to do but to come here n bluff pple... not everyone is as contradicting to claim busy and chk out threads n suspect pple.. ur time might be put to better use.

  18. found renotalk way back.. when i needed to find research.. then it stopped for a long time... finally found this gem site again... recently and seems to be logging in more often than i go onto facebook. ------------------------------------------------------------------- the story of 128 was in search of houses in march 2009 but due to my fiance's constant being away.. we only started to view house in sept. houses after houses... we didnt see any.. it was fortunate that the houses we disliked were similar.. so we didnt need to ponder over much. there was finally 1 house that we liked... and made an immediate offer.. but after leaving the place for like 1 hour..we started talking about something else.. and none of us really remembered how the flat looks like.. 128 was then the flat we saw the like 3-4 days later.. it was a viewing in the evening.. and we went in and felt very comfortable.. the design wasnt fantastic la. to me... but my fiance felt it was move in condition... and so... we went to see the house the next afternoon... because the valuation wasnt out.. we werent able to make an offer.. thats when we went for more house viewing.. but.. during those times.. we thought of nothing but 128.... although i clearly knew tat the design wasnt that great. then we chanced into another house.. it was really nice.. design wise and everything was ideal.. but they were asking for 70k cash... being young poor rats like us.... obviously no money la.. so .. we only offered 50 at max.. sadly.. the house was also taken up... the weird thing was.. both of us felt happy it was sold.. dunno why.. but we felt great.. haha.. and so we pestered the agent about the house.. and... finally valuation came out to me 358k... and then we offered 30k straight because we heard an offer was at 25k..after really ALOT of delaying here and there... finally the agent told us.. okay! sell.... i rem it was on a friday and we wanted to sign that OTP soon.. (in case the hubby of the house changed his mind because he didnt really wanna sell the place) and so we pestered the agent to make it that night... finally at 11pm.. we were at our "new flat" signing the docs....closing the deal at 388k it was quite weird because initial plan wasto bring our both parents to see the hse b4 we committed. but obviously we didnt rem wat we planned la.... so it was my family to see the house... and .. my family liked it alot.. my baby niece fell aslp in the house.. which meant she like the place because she is usually fussy.... and his nephew also had a great time fooling ard in the house.... conclusion.. if kids like.. means "okay" la... and so... deal.... ---------------------------------------------------------------- the lucky part of 128 because initially we were not eligible for the hdb loan.. which means more cash for the flat and i insisted on renovating the flat at least a 50%... my fiance was worried about the cash aspects (still have wedding concurrently)... we asked the agent to help us with bank loans and complaint about the $ casually... one evening my agent called me and asked if i want to revaluate the house.. paying an additonal $150 (i think) to try... so if the valuation goes up.. the COV goes down.. although the 5% will go up.. but it wil still be lower cash output... he has spoken to the owner if they r willing and the owner also agreed to help us...if the valuation is lower.. the owner will let us use the 1st valuation...but he mentioned due to market... lightly.. we will have an increase of 10k.. at max.. and so... we tried.... during the waiting period, we had a huge quarrel leading to an almost calling off of everything. we told the agent to check on us cancelling the sale ( to his surprise). i then went overseas for work for 2 weeks, during then, my fiance's project ended way earlier than expected..( which mean he was jobless la) it was also during the trip that we started talking again.. but on cold terms.. and we were both "thinking" about the future...and . im sure both were unsure of the house... something happen the night before i return to sin --to our frens.. and my fiance n i started talking amicably becauyse we were trying to see what we can help.. obviously the ability to communicate n think together brought some uncertain optimism.. just after i chk in.. my agent called me and asked if i wanna proceed with the house...because the valuation is out- and it is now 382k.. which means instead of paying 30k cash.. i now pay 6k... and since i have alr paid the owner 5k booking fee... we'll just need to pay 1k more during 1st appt... and because my fiance was unemployed.. we can get him to declare unemployed and get the hdb loan..which means we save on tat 5% cash of bank loan... and......... we are also eligible for the housing grant too... so.. we saved about.. 43k cash and got.. 40k from govt.... happy like dog.. so... when in sin.. had a talk n all sorts of rubbish... and after this n that.....we finally got our key on 22/03. ------------------------------------------------ we opened the flat on 4/4/10 and mr chang also came to audit the flat on the same day......(we also realised that.. 1044 came out 3rd prize tat night...sigh....) now that mr chang has audited the flat and given us all sorts of .... weird colours to follow.... i've finally started on searching for IDs... like.. on 5/4/10? and so.. the journey has only started..... (realised its so long a post... will update on the ids i've contacted) as of today 7/4/2010- am waiting for 12 quotes and thinking very hard if i shld get a contractor or... an ID.... any suggestion if i already have my appointed carpenter (my dad's a carpenter and using his contacts) and rough idea of what i want?

  25. dear all. i have some confusion to ask - i was planning to "open" the door on april 3 in the night time but my parents told me its qing ming and not to open the flat. however as im also engaging mr chang to audit the flat, he told me qing ming is on april 5, so it doesnt matter. anyone here knows if it is okay opening the door during "qing ming"? or what shall i do?
