  1. Hi Eden01, I guess most of the home owners here went through the same frustrations and confusion in the selection of id/ contractors as you do now. I was in your shoes 4 months ago, searching frantically for any clues or guidance on how to select the right id. It's especially stressful when I think about the dollars at stake. I agree with what the other home owners have advised here. What I did was: 1. Got recommendations from home owners here on their ids. 2. Contacted 3-4 id and met up with them: I told them my general requirements, my budget, and I seek their ideas and solutions to create a practical and cosy home. I also requested to look at their portfolios, asked about their current engagement (if too busy, I scared they can't follow up on my project). 3. From my experience, their quotes are more or less the same. I guess because it's pretty competitive nowadays, and my id too, realize that people are sharing info anytime n anywhere. So their creativity, attitude as in how quick they respond to you and the workmanship are important to me. 4. For me, customer service is equally important. I want a minimal hassle Reno. My id is my rep there. Anyone delivering anything, or fixing anything, my id is supposed to handle that without my presence. And he must ensure the 'safety' of my goods in the house. Having said so much, I am aware that there's no perfect id.. Just choose one to meet your need --EDITED--
  2. Hi AhHui, I share the same sentiments as what's said earlier. Unless you super like this id, there's no harm, setting aside more time to run through other id since we are talking about a substantial amount of money involved. **advertisement** Electrical works, we actually engage someone from JB, licensed electrician here. And if you do drive to JB, we find buying lightings and fans from JB are way cheaper than in Singapore! But to note that if we stay less than 48h in JB, then we are only GST-exempted for goods worth $150, otherwise it'd be $600, per person. We are now sourcing for curtains. Hope can get a real good deal one Anyway, Good Luck in the hunting!
  3. Hi tcm, I actually run through pages of discussions on this topic and meeting up with a few id before we settled down with our current one.. Comparing id to contractor, I would say the latter is cheaper. But I've learnt from my BTO Facebook discussion that some dishonest contractors actually ran away with my Neighbours' deposits .. So we just need to take more caution in our decision Main question: any id to recommend? Ans: Yes! Our id, ***** Teo from *****. Don't be intimidated by the fact that it's an award winning designer firm, cos I did my comparisons with a few id (advised by this forum to be on the low side on costs) and ***** price still remains very competitive. Off course, cost is actuallyone of our main driver in the selection. Then comes in the drawings - how he conceptualizes what we want, proposing to us what's practical and then he puts in the creativity in the works that he proposes. Hehe, all BTO came with same layout and we are just looking for that distinctive feel that he can value add to our home Enough said, you may go to his Facebook page to view some of the more recent Reno work. Ours is actually there, the round ceiling ones I would strongly encourage you contacting him, at least, get some idea of what you could do with your home sweet home.. Cos in the end of the day, you aren't obliged to sign up if you aren't happy with the proposal
  4. Hi Jonlucas, Coincidentally I'm also using Inspire by [remove] for my Reno. My id is [remove]. You can go to his Facebook page to view his completed works. I strongly recommend him for the creativity and commitments to meet our requirements
  5. Hi NeedaHome, I'm not sure if you have closed the deal with the contractor based on the above quote, but I also think that your quote is a bit too general. Perhaps you can get a more specific one from the contractor. The $6k tiles for dining and living area really catches my eyes. Depending on what material you wanna use I guess. We use vinyl tiles and was quoted 4.5k for living, dining and 3bedrooms. Happy Reno!
  6. Hi Dylanchua, I can emphatize your agony. I went through the long list of id selection based on research and friends recommendations. I painfully tried to compare quotes by quotes. **edited**
  7. Yeah, I agree that the price is more or less there though I spotted some which are more expensive than mine. Anyway if you are very comfy with the id then should be fine. Otherwise, get more quotes and ideas from other id for comparison. Off course we would want to stretch our dollars to the max possible
  8. Hi Zhiz, Would you mind sharing with me your id contact ? Many thanks!
