  1. Hi everyone, There's a lot of progress for today as they manage to install all the bathroom and kitchen accessories and the living room cornice too. The bedroom doors were also delivered too. Heard from the foreman that our house will be done by Saturday, except for the Kitchen Cabinets. Can't wait for Saturday to come! 08 August 2007, Wednesday The Plate and Cup Holders and Hooks were installed above the Kitchen Basin, together with the two-headed taps. The Kitchen Bathroom Accessories were installed. Here are the Master Bedroom Bathroom Accessories. And here are the Cornice in the Living Room. Tommorow they will be doing the Paint Works and by Friday, they will be installing the Lights, wah la, our Little Sweet Haven will be completed, except the Kitchen Cabinets, which will be installed by 14 August 07, next Tuesday. That's all for now folks.
  2. Hi Cantona7, Thanks for the tips, will surely make a note of all that defects you found. Actually we did spotted some defects but given the benefit of doubt that the renovation is not completed yet, they still have time to remedy them. Anyway the Tiler Foreman is not avaliable today to do the installation as he needs to settle some family issues. Really hope that he can come tommorow and fix everything and proceed with the painting too. Today we get to settle the final drawings of the Kitchen Cabinets. 07 Aug 2007, Tuesday The Paints, Bathroom W/Cs and Basins were delivered. No signs of our Bedroom Doors yet though. !! We also informed our Contractor to scrape off the Ceiling Debris before proceeding to paint. He said that the sealer was applied first so that all the "impurities" will surface and it's more easily to scrape off. Informed our contractor about the top corner area of the Kitchen Area that is not plastered yet. Another closer look at the stainless steel piping damaged ceiling area. Water is still leaking, not sure whether it's from upstairs or the piping. Hope that it will be filled up by tommorow. That's all for now folks! Hi ah_kiat, No worries, we are also learning here.
  3. Hi MaCe, Is this the McKenic you are referring to? Mr McKenic Houshold Products Which is the exact product you used to remove stains from Homogeneous Tiles? Noted, thanks for the info. !! How about the "3-Legged Toad with gold coin in mouth" ornament? Heard that it can be used to bring fortune into the house, but must be placed inwards from the main door and hidden from sight. Any views on that? !!
  4. Hi jamez, No problem-amo. Just here to help as what all members here are for. So you found any solution to your "dropping" pebbles issue yet? By the way, how much it costs to do that?
  5. Hi Angelwrath, Welcome to Reno T-Blog, hope to see more of your renovation photos soon. By the way, there is a topic on uploading photos method, here's the link: Guide on how to upload photos here There's a limit of 5 photos per reply, just to let you know. Also try to resize your photos so your visitors will be spend too much time scrolling down your photos;)
  6. Hi applefreak, Thanks for the info, here's a trivia on Maneki Neko. The Maneki Neko made for export beckons by showing the back of its hand (as is customary in America and other nations). But the Maneki Neko made for domestic Japanese consumption beckons by showing the palm of its left hand, as is customary among the Japanese.
  7. Hi Greycat, We actually really hope to avoid moving into our new house during the Lunar 7th month, but due to some last minutes changes here and there, the schedule was kinda delayed and we are only able to shift in then. So to make the best out of it, we try to choose an auspicious date (25th August 2007, Saturday) for us to offset the bad feeling. So jamez, Greycat and MaCe, do you guys have special ornaments in your house supposedly to bring in fortune and luck for you? Care to share? One that we know of is the "Zhao Cai Mao", or the Maneki Neko, Backoning Cat of Japan. Usually spot them in the Bubble Tea shops, maybe get one for my house. Today we met our contractor to mark out the bathroom and kitchen accessories positions, and my wife spotted a leakage due to the stainless steel pipe installation. My contractor say they are going to fix it by tommorow. Here's another look at our beautiful Bathroom Mosaic Tiles taken with flash. My wife just loves them so much. Tommorow will be a great step towards the completion of the renovation as lots of things are going to be installed and painting will be done. Thereafter the lamps will be installed on the 10 August 2007, Friday or Saturday, then it will be just the Kitchen Cabinets left to be installed. That's all for now folks.
  8. Hi jamez, So you are shifting your things after the 7th Month? That will be after 11th September, Tuesday you know. Yeah, some lobang as recommended by the forum members. 9. Hi niko_niko, Congratulations on completion of your renovation. Nice Cosy place you got there.
  10. Hi jamez, So excited to see your new photos, seems like your house is going to be complete anytime soon. Still so impressed by your loud colour in your Bathrooms, just hope the visitors are not too stunned to do their business. Yeah, 25 August 2007, Saturday should be our day of Offcial Moving In, while we slowly shift our barang barang into our new house. We actually had no much choice as we are currently renting an apartment and our contract ends on the 1st September 2007, so we kinda in the rush. Anyway like one of my office mate pointed out, there's no such thing as the whole month is unlucky, just need to pay more details to the rituals when moving in, such as sprinkling salt and rice at the corners. We will try to compile a checklist so nothing goes wrong. Any additional advice to share? Just curious, where do you intend to purchase your eletrical applicances? Need any help?
  11. Hi jamez, Agree with you on that. We don't want to be reminded everyday that we did not follow the FSM if we went ahead with our way of decorating our place. But then again, if simple things such as placing a plant or an small ornament here and there does not involve too much hassle, there's no harm in giving it a try. OIC, thanks for the insight on the "Tu Di Gong" ceremony. Yeah, we are also looking forward to see more of your renovation pics too. We had a meeting with our contractor yesterday to settle on the W/C bowls and basins, and also inform the tiler where to install the bathroom accessories. We have not really settle the Kitchen Cabinets yet, so there might be some delay, but the carpenter promised to complete the installation 4 days after confirmation. Here's some update photos: 04 August 2007, Saturday Nothing much changes in the Kitchen, except for the near completion of the Mosaic Tiles in the Kitchen Bathroom. The old lights taken down and the Ariston Water Heater, that is going to be installed on Monday. The 7-piece Bathroom Accessories for the Master Bedroom Bathroom. The near completion of the Mosaic Tiles in the Master Bedroom Bathroom. That's all folks, 5 more days to go for the "Sport The Defects" exercise. P.S. : By the way, we was unsure if we are eligible for the July Utilities Bill GST Rebate, as we did not get the $105 GST Rebate for 4-rm indicated when we received our Utility Bill. Can someone share some insight on this with us? Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi jamez, We just a new website from rebtang that calculates Auspicious Dates by using both occupants' Birthdates. Maybe you want to give it a try: Free 30 Days Auspicious Date for One/Two Person(s) Our intitial moving date is not there within the list, and another date came up as 25th August 2007, 13th of Chinese Lunar 7th Month. We think we going to use this as it uses more details to calculate and is much later date so we have more time to shift. Hope to see more of your renovation photos soon.
  13. Hi rebtang, We manage to find the site you talking about : Free 30 Days Auspicious Date for One/Two Person(s) Interestingly, we got another sets of dates by using both our birthdates: Very Auspicious : 13 Aug 2007 Monday (1st of Chinese Lunar 7th Month) 25 Aug 2007 Saturday (13th of Chinese Lunar 7th Month) Very Auspicious & Average (Date will be Very Auspicious for one and Average for the other): 08 Aug 2007 Wednesday (26th of Chinese Lunar 6th Month) 20 Aug 2007 Monday (8th of Chinese Lunar 7th Month) 01 Sep 2007 Saturday (20th of Chinese Lunar 7th Month) No 16th August there, so kinda confused now. Maybe its not Lucky for our Birthdates. So from the above, maybe the choice will be 25th August 2007, Saturday since 13 August is kinda too rush for us too. Thanks for your help.
  14. Hi jamez,Thanks for the calendar pix! Hope someone can decipher what is written there. Anyone? Have you consulted a FSM yet? If so, care to share your contact? By the way, we did notice a plate with oranges and incense in your first original living room photos, doing some ritual then? Just curious. Hi MaCe, Thanks for the advice. Thought of consulting Mr Chong, had PM him our details but seems like he is really busy these days, just hope he is able to give us his views before 16th August. If not, can you PM us some recommendations and how much they charged if you had the contacts. Thanks in advance! Yesterday, our contractor called to inform us that all the major works will be expected to complete by this weekend. By Major he means installation of windows, bathroom accessories, W/C and basins, water heater, mosaic tiles, stainless steel water pipes. We have not really settled on the Kitchen Cabinets yet as we are short of budget again. We did not included the electricity and water bills for the new house (which is inclusive of $100 deposit) , the moving fee for the movers and etc. We will be meeting our contractor tommorow to settle the two bathroom bi-fold doors colours and the final decision on the Kitchen Cabinets. For now, here's today photo update: 03 August 2007, Friday Another View of the almost completed Kitchen. The new stainless steel pipes were installed. The Tilers were there to place the mosaic tiles. They told our contractor that as the mosaic tiles are easily damaged, they wanted to put it up when most of the works are completed, thus the long delay. Notice the 2nd piece looks different, it's because they had not ran the white cement over the gaps yet. The stainless steel pipes running from the Kitchen Bathroom along the Guest Room wall, towards the Master Bedroom Bathroom. The new Living Room Window Grille Frame and the new stainless steel pipes running towards the Kitchen. That's all folks. Enjoy your weekend!
  15. Hi Mr Chong, We like to know if you can give us some advice on what are the favourable dates to move into our new house? We are expecting the house to be completed during the Chinese 7th Month, so kinda worried that it is not suitable to move in then, but we needed to move before September. We will PM you our birthdates and we like to know if 16 August 2007, Thursday will be favourable for us. If not, what dates during August do you suggest that we move in? Below is our floorplan and its heading is NorthEast 25 degrees. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks in advance.
  16. To Mr Chong: We did another search on 16th August 2007, Thursday on the website mentioned on our previous post and found more information. Chinese Lunar Date : 4th July 4704 The Stem Branch YEAR : Red Pig MONTH : Brown Monkey DAY : Black Horse So does this day has any bad impact on any of the Twelve Animal Zodiacs? Please advice. Thanks for your help in advance.
  17. Hi jamez, See your renovation is near to completion, so when are they getting you for the "Spot The Defects" exercise in your new house? By the way, here are some more forum topics and websites you can get more information on the practices of Moving into a New House : Moving Into New House Sleeping In Before 7th Month, But Moving Furniture During 7th Month Moving Into An EMPTY House - A really detailed list here. Hope it helps. Hope to see more photos posted soon.
  18. Hi jamez, Glad you visited the website, hope it gives you some idea which date to choose. And thanks for the telling us about the option of RESIDENCE RELOCATION, kinda missed that one out. Yeah, 16 Aug 2007, Thursday seems to be the Luckiest Day of August 2007, according to the website. Yeah, did manage to saw the old type calendar, but some of description did not makes much sense. Maybe will try to get the Hanyu Pinyin of the description and post it here for some advice. Well, not too much was being done up these few days because we requested the lights to be installed after all the painting is done, which happens to be the last renovation item. Anyway, the Kitchen Cabinets might have some delay as the carpenter had not come up with the design plan yet and also need 1 week to install after confirmation, but my contractor says he would try his best to "chase" him for it. Still on the waiting list : 1. Installing Bathroom Mosaic Tiles at both bathrooms 2. Installing New Window Grilles **** Room 3. Installing New Windows for Guest Room 4. Installing New Stainless Steel Pipings for Whole house 5. Painting the whole house 6. Installing New Lights and Ceiling Fan for the Whole house 7. Chemical Washing for the Whole house 8. Installing the Kitchen Cabinets Hi eR1c, Maybe can check with Mr Chong here in the Fengshui Forum for that matter too? But he seems quite busy these days, maybe business very good since a lot of people moving house due to good property market. Think MaCe also knows a thing or two on Fengshui right? See his post answering some of the member's Fengshui queries. Yeah, read your T-Blog on your effort to fix up the furnitures, really had to hand it to you. By the way, did you take a very long leave from your work? Wah, shifting in on National Day, everyone is celebrating with you. At least your father make an effort to seek advice from someone, so better follow if not waste his effort. Here are some photos taken today: 01 August 2007, Wednesday The Living Room Floor had been covered to prevent further damage. The Window Grilles for the Living Room had also been removed, waiting to install the new one, but did not see any in the house. The previous posting that it had been changed, was a mistake. The New MCB was also installed over the weekend and lowered to adult height. The Stove Concrete Stand is almost completed, without the Hob in sight cos its not delivered yet. The Master Bedroom Bathroom Wall had been patched with cement. All the bathroom accessories and house lightings were moved to the Study Room for proper storage.
  19. Hi eR1c, Yeah, kinda rush, so googled and found this website that provides auspicious dates for GRAND OPENING, which we think its same for MOVING IN, and found 16th August 2007, Thursday is very LUCKY, hence thinking of doing so on that date. Any advice whether its true? CONGRATS on moving into your NEW HOUSE, your house really turns out GREAT! We met with our contractor on 28th July to settle on the wall paint colour and the kitchen cabinet design. The electricians also came down to do the rewiring. Then on Sunday we went back to took photos of the progress done on Saturday. 29th July 2007, Sunday The Kitchen is almost completed, less the finishing touch on some wall tiles and the Concrete Stand. The New Window Grilles for the Guest Room have arrived. That's all folks for now.
  20. Hi everyone, Just google and manage to find this website that provides auspicious dates for various events (e.g. grand opening, wedding dates, moving beds), anyone interested just click on the link below: GOOD EVENTS DATES Did a search on LUCKY Dates for GRAND OPENING (think it also means moving into new house) in the month of August, which happens to be the Chinese Hungry Ghost Festival month and these are the results : 01 Aug Wednesday 03 Aug Friday 06 Aug Monday 08 Aug Wednesday 16 Aug Thursday (Thinking of moving in on this day) 20 Aug Monday 28 Aug Tuesday Can anyone provide advice whether these results are true? Thanks. !! !!
  21. Hi everyone, !! Just happen to google and found this website regarding auspicious dates for any events (i.e. moving in, grand opening, baby haircut), anyone interested just click on the link below : GOOD EVENTS DATES !!
  22. Hi jamez, Glad to see your renovation having a GOOD progress, really excited to see when everything is completed. !! By the way, have you decided when to move in? Interested in getting an auspicious date? Just manage to know this website, hope it will help. Good Events Dates !!
  23. Hi everyone, We are back with tonight's renovation photos. We are pleased that some things are done today, at least we know work are being done. 26 July 2007, Thursday The Kitchen Floor Tiles were almost done and the Kitchen Basin was placed into position, although it is not really fixed properly yet. The Washing Machine Concrete Base was also done. The Study Room Floor Tiles were finally placed, left a couple of tiles for the skirting, which is not done yet. The Master Bedroom Bathroom Floor Tiles were also placed last night. Here comes the complaining part . Once again we found our Bathroom Mosaic Tiles lying around the place, and one piece were even damaged. Really hope the tiles were fixed as early as possible. Hope the progress would speed up so that we can move in before the 13th August 2007, Monday. Countdown 13 days (excluding Sundays) to 10 August 2007, Friday, our renovation due date. !! !!
  24. Hi jamez, Yeah, better not clutter an oredi small bathroom, then no place to disperse the air after doing business. The METRO Closing Sale (up to 70%) is still going on, dunno when they close for real. Well, at least it will benefit lots of consumers. In addition, there's a Best Denki Renovation Sale (Up to 80%) going on at the 4th Floor too, so maybe you can view some electrical applicances while the ladies do treasure hunting in the Handbag, Shoes and Cosmestics Section. The thing we learnt these days is that the most Sales Ads always on Friday and Saturday Straits Time. That is when you get to know where has the best offers. Maybe we can start a topic annoucing SALES taking place in their Neighbourhood and help everyone saves some money. WOW, your progress is much more faster than mine, right now our Bathroom Mosaic Tiles, the Kitchen Floor Tiles and Room Skirtings are still not completed yet. Dunno if they can complete on time anot. Hopefully everything turns out right at the last moment. Hope to see More of your renovation photos and Many Thanks for sharing the housekeeping tips at my blog.
  25. Hi MaCe, We think they had painted the sealer oredi, the living room wall is kinda white now. Dunno whether that's the sealer or not. Yeah, that's why the name "EasyWash" right? Hi everyone, We are back with some photos we took yesterday, not much was done up during these 2 days (24th and 25th July) though. 25 July 2007, Wednesday Top of Kitchen Basin and Stove Concrete Stand was placed, the Kitchen Bathroom Floor was completed, but the top section for the Mosaic Tiles is still not removed yet. The floor tiles still not placed in the Study Room yet. Dust and debris were also found under the cardboard that served as protection for the Living Room Floor Tiles. Better don't let us find any scratch marks. Now kinda worried if they are going to complete on time. Hopefully we could see more things completed tonight.
