Hi rinarobert, U still got chance to move in before CNY......trust me...........but your contractor must be responsible type..........cannot promise u then fly u aeroplane..............yesterday....after my work........i go see my house renovation progress.............i saw my neighbours who is also doing his renovation...........they engage an Interior designer(ID)...........but i engage an renovation "uncle".........they are more class but me no class..........bo pian.........my budget only $20k.........but in my army i learn one thing........dont compare...... but hor.........my neighbour renovation screw up........i heard them quarelling with their ID...........i kaypoh go ask them quarrel wat.........his ID go and do his floor tiles then go hack his kitchen walls...........damage his floor tiles.......this wat i call no experience........my reno "uncle" will never do that..........plus my neighbour choose the same floor tiles as me at $4........but his ID quote him $10k plus plus.......then the floor kanna damage.......my reno "uncle" charge me only $8k plus.........and he also send his 2 best men to lay my floor for me.................he tells me his 2 men very famous in singapore.....some even say they are good even in brazil..........lol...haha...but their work really good i must admit.......my brother who is very picky type, come and see.......i think die lah.....complain again..... even drool after he sees my floor tiles.....and buy curry puff for his 2 famous men.....i am suprised........... allow me to share with u my little experience......my house got some damages........so i complain HDB.....HDB send their contractors....HDB contractors says can help me change all my doors(toilet and room) for $200 and even relay my toilet tiles for $200 each....i greedy and let them change my doors and pay him.....u know what...........on the day of door changing........he says i never pay him......we end up arguing.........lucky i never let him do my toilet tiles.....the HDB contractors very forgetful, irresponsible........cannot becos trying to save up abit and end up in deep ****........must use responsible contractors.... In conclusion, I like my renovation "uncle" alot , he call me everynite and update me on my house progress and even suggest to me ideas with his experience.......i hate biz talks and i enjoy such heart to heart talk with him.............i even forget my house now doing renovation and i pop by every alternate day to check my house progress....heehee.... Hi rinorobert, call me james or gohkm also can..........james better.......heehee Ya i use uncle Eng Hock this time also...........for his worksmanship, i very satisfied...........u can check out my blog to see for yourself......he never gives me any headache..........i even forget my house now doing renovation.......i just pop by and take a look, then he always got progress to show me..........i very touch by his responsiblity style.....but i feel paiseh abit cos i bargain too much.....but my budget not too high so i have to bargain........he even send 2 of his best men to do my floor for me........haha he say so lah..........actually.........now near festive period....he renovate for me i very touched.........some tell u they will start work after chinese new year or charge u a price u cannot imagine.... actually i very bad...........i initially got think of jumping ship halfway through my renovation. Cos the HDB contractor (not uncle Eng Hock)......tell me he can do relaying of my toilets tiles(each toilet) for $200 only.... then my heart move............lucky i never take his offer........though the Hdb contractor charge not high but his style i beh tahan....got chance i elaborate more ok. Hi good people, Many ask how come i dont post pictures here? A good question actually....Er....actually i wanted......but i dont know how.....haha...... .....but to be fair, i do ask for how to do it here before...........but no reply..........maybe thats fate..........anyway blog is not bad too also........i will keep update it and leave it as a sweet memory. During the ballot......... i saw many choose bukit merah...........i think to myself? How come ppl dont choose clementi? They forgot clementi already? I abit depressed. Initially, I want to choose bukit merah also but I grew up at ang mo kio/ woodlands........my teenage years i spent mostly at clementi studying.....so i got feeling for these 3 places.........i cannot choose bukit merah cos i no feeling at all. I cannot forget those sweet school days after "siong" school projects and a hard day at school, my friends and i hang out at clementi mcdonalds, eat porridge at clementi market and that western food......claypot rice too....How can i forget? Maybe i am those nostalgia and sentimental type. It might be doing me good and doing me no good For example, last saturday morning, i go chinatown eat porridge.....then i look around.......the place though near town, excellent location......but i look around...i know nobody........nobody knows me.....i told myself this is not where i should stay....... Er anyway.........i will update my blog from pre-renovation to fully done. I will also update some finding during my stay at clementi.........e.g. good foods, cool prices, cheapest lobang etc.......stay tune......its a long adventure out there.......... !! Thank you. I like clementi also maybe becos all my tertiary studies i had is all there. Plus the school i am working in now is also near clementi also. Maybe i am fated to be there.... I will update my blog whenever possible.

Hi good people, I just sold my 5 room punggol and moving to clementi in a month time. Now my clementi flat is in a "warzone", under renovation. I learn a lot from you good people at renotalk. I decide to record my clementi renovation in a blog as a sweet memory. But i never renovate much cos my budget only $21k for a five room flat.....hope wont disappoint you guys......... Just want to give my little opinion, maybe i am not as rich as u ppl.........so i can give only poor opinion. I got my clementi new flat, i also hate my toilet very much....haha. then thinking to ask the contractor hack this hack that...........when my contractor show me the quotation........i almost want to hack him........haha...............i at first want to hack or relay the toilet wall and floor tiles.......the price really not worth it plus it will affect the water proofing also..........then i give up the idea.... when i give up the idea, another idea come up............i check slowly my hdb toilet see got any defect, if got, maybe hdb maybe even change for free, haha......also the hdb toilet also not so big........do so nice also cannot stay too long...........but one thing is feel should spent on toilet is the sink tap and the shower tap........it give yr toilet a better feeling..........just my 2 cents worth of advice...........

Yr renovation cost is 110k! but yr house is nice with the money spent. But i dont have such money.sad.....my renovation for my 5room clementi new standard flat, i spent only 19k........really envy u

i bought the clementi flat that u went to see for $360k (5room). But before that i went to see those 3NG flats near the AMK central cos i tok they r cheap and i stay at AMK since young(so got many feeling).....how wrong am i...........those flats owners r asking for 275k to 300k.........i nearly faint.........got one 4 room near AMK central asking for 450k(owner still thinking whether to sell).....then i think if i buy a 29 yrs old 3NG for 275k to 300k, i am quite stupid to give up a 360k clementi(5room) new unit........ But yr house real nice...like i say.if i see yr house pic earlier........i will consider buy a AMK resale again.....i saw some ppl spend yr kind of money also dont have the kind of effect....congratualtion to you.........

Hi Light, Yr house very nice.......this august after i sell my flat, i am thinking whether to buy a AMK resale or carry on with my clementi purchase(i got through balloting). MAybe if i have see yr pictures earlier, i will still consider buying AMK resale

I also have a good contractor to intro. 5 years ago, i was doing renovation for my 5 room punggol new unit. I met this contractor on my good friend unit. I am impressed by his work and his responsible manner. i engaged him after that, indeed i am happy with his work and his experience. Though he isnt a designer, he is very experienced. His advice is very useful. He also got very good worksmanship.There isnt any complain and he is a nice uncle and you can even discuss with him yr budget. This renovation uncle talks softly, abit shy type some more, nice guy indeed, but his english not very good. This june 2007 , i got a clementi 5 room flat through balloting. This contractor uncle is the first person i think of cos as usual i only set aside 20k for my renoavation. And also during this 5 years, i have no complain at all about his renovation. I quickly call him. I scared he dont work liao Lucky he still around. He quoted my house renovation around 20k also but excluding aircon. But the material he use good lah...He drove me around to buy wall tiles, floor tiles, sink etc.....i am waiting eagerly for him to start his work again. Anyone wants my contractor contact, just PM me.

Hi mace, thank you for yr reply. Lets say i decide to change all my 3 bedroom doors to new ones? Must i keep the original hdb doors and change them back when i sell my house? Which type of doors is good? E.g. Plywood or Nyatoh or........? U know any good place to buy doors? Thank you.

Dont be downhearted........i feel yr money very well spent...........at least yr house got that $40k plus effect.........i just got a new flat but i only have half yr budget. But i might not even get half yr effect....... !!

Hi all, I just got my hdb flat, but the doors for all my 3 rooms look boring( those yellow plywood type). I thinking of changing it but it still can be use so i dont want to waste it. I am thinking of laminating it instead. Does anyone do this before? How much does it cost to laminate each door? Thank you very much........

May i ask how often u apply this rosewood spray to yr rosewood furniture? for e.g. u apply the spray to yr rosewood furniture once a month? also must you expose the rosewood furniture to sunlight after the wiping it? Will the spray cause the rosewood colour to decolourise? Thank you very much

For the hailage and debris clearing fee, my contractor charge me $750 for my new 5 room flat. After i saw what u guys say, i get very angry with my contractor. Thinking of charging to a more honest one. Anyone got a honest contractor to intro?

Ya true............the boss told me the wood from hainan, then ship to shanghai for furnishing then send to zhejiang for lacquering...............those new ones(i tink make of fur or camphone wood), look very nice and they are easier to fabricate but when u knock got hear echo, sian liao. Plus its so light, i can lift up easily, i also sian........... very happy to make friends with both Applefreak and Mace. I think i live near to applefreak cos currenlty i live at punggol central. But i am shifting to clementi at december. btw, Me now going to soon bee huat(Jurong East) to choose my new home tiles with my wife. Sian, thats how my 2 days off got burn away, haha. Can take mrt to kovan then take bus 80, about 3 stops can reach. After bus 80 turn left into paya lebar can drop off already. I think rosewood the older it is, the more valuable it becomes. I was at the shop, i saw the boss with 1 worker doing some re-lacquering on 1 rosewood dining set. I ask theboss wats the charges for refurnishing, they say it charge $1600 and the new similar set will cost $3000++. Then i think this dining set owner rather pay for refurnishing then to buy a new set becos a new set cost so much. Its unlike laptop, u rather buy new one then send the old ones for repair after the warranty expires. becos the repair price of a laptop can match the price of a new set.......
