  1. MaCe posted a glass supplier contact b4. i called them but they erm arh don't seem to understand what i'm talking about. you can try... http://www.carltonglass.com.sg/ tel: 6742 6882 it is very very brave of you to embark on a whole house reno solo! all the best and may everything be smooth-sailing and hassle-free!
  2. hi Indee, i dunno what size is mine. it looks like this: costs $18 from DK Lighting at Geylang this is the one and only downlight i have in the whole flat!
  3. yeah! 1K each for platform is normal price! my entire MBR is platform. my balcony is curved platform. the children love the platforms... so consider worth it! Bilrich is distributor for Alsafloor, it's made in france. website is here: www.bilrich.com or www.alsafloor.com all the best on yr reno & flooring selection!
  4. wahh... kitchen in that laminate will be very outstanding! the wardrobe is 11ft and is costs $2.4K... not sure if ex coz my carpenter did whole house carpentry. i think some items are cheaper and some items more ex. i used the same white laminate for my MBR half-height storage. like you i also cannot resist this laminate! saw another home owner (can't remember which t blog) also intending to use this laminate in black for her hubby's wardrobe and white for hers! seems like it is a very popular choice!
  5. wowwww! lovely lovely home u've got there! l looks so good! and you're such a good bargain-hunter! i saw the Self-fix ad in the papers, they are having road-shows at diff locations and selling the soft-closing toilet seat cover for >$50. can consider that if u're not changing yr whole WC so soon! i don't work for them!
  6. is Geylang too far for you? if u're buying lights for the whole house, just factor in the taxi fare as the "discount" u will get for not buying from the expensive shops near you. and can makan there after the light shopping. i know you have kids, so just share the lights i got for my kiddy rooms: both 32W @ $35 each from DK Lighting at Geylang. happy light shopping!
  7. i'm no aircon expert but your model numbers ending with VA looks familiar. i have a similar system installed so am answering your question based on the little that i know for my own aircon. i don't know anything about the SV units. MXY-4A28VA is the outdoor unit model name. System 4 means you can have 4 indoor units + 1 outdoor unit (check this blog for what all the terms mean: singapore-aircon.blogspot.com) MSXY-GA10VA is the indoor unit - 3X just means you will have 3 units of these in 3 bedrooms (same as mine) since you are getting System 4, that means you will have one more indoor unit with a bigger capacity for your living/dining area. so in your case, maybe this will be the MSXY-GA22VA? mine is the MSXY-GA26VA. i paid $3.8K all-in for mine. u can get more info fr the Mit website: http://www.mitsubishielectric.com.sg/produ..._split_inverter
  8. i got the Friedland Big Ben which comes with the dingdong sound for $38 from one of the lighting shops. my electrician wired it up for me. the invoice says $40 for the doorbell point but i think if that's the only thing u r doing, it would probably cost a lot more to factor in transportation, etc. if u have more things to do, can still negotiate for a better price. my experience with the battery type of doorbell is the batteries die real fast! then if u don't replace the batteries, u have a box which doesn't work, so whenever we had visitors ringing the bell, we will be oblivious to it!
  9. thank you phoenix! i my flooring! we paid $6K for it from Bilrich. it will be much less, around $4K if you don't do any platforms. i got two platforms - the one u see in the balcony and one more in the master bedroom. my friend chose the same flooring and it cost her $2K for her 3-room flat. really like the practicality of it and it's very child-friendly - won't hurt when they fall and great for babies learning to crawl. it comes with 25 years warranty.
  10. is Acetone also thinner? sorry ah... don't ask me to go search dictionary! is this the one need to show IC to buy? hongss, i used thinner to clean away all the paint stains on the floor and grilles. have to rub hard but most of it came off. for the grilles, i would say no need to spend too much time coz after the curtains are up, no one is going to see the tiny paint speckles! but i still waste time and clean, hahha!
  11. i called a few times, they keep asking me to call back and speak to May. but i never get to speak to her, so finally i leave msg and they say she'll call me. but never call back. i think maybe they don't understand what i'm trying to tell them. hehe... their factory near my place, i'm so tempted to just drive there with photos and ask them for the quote! but then they will know i'm desperate and chop ah! last alternative is to leave the glass as it is and keep the dining table permanently at the 8-seater configuration. but will push one side against the wall, that means display 5 chairs only. side track here, is that ok in terms of feng shui? hee... i know u also very well-read in feng shui, so tumpang this thread one shot ask u! thanks Bro!
  12. Robinsons having 20% + 20% + 10% sale at The Bed Shop 12-14 Oct! i went yday and they gave me the discount!
  13. i went to Extreme Lightings when i did my lighting survey/search along Balestier. their prices were the most reasonable compared to the other shops along the lighting stretch. i think the guy who attended to me was Alex. sharp and fast, saw me with my notes and gave me his "best" price without me bargaining. but i finally got all my lights from DK Lighting at Geylang coz i found even better prices there! can't wait to see pix of your done-up place. your dd's bedroom set is a dream....
  14. don't me lah... pardon my poor photography skills. i dunno how to get the white part of the laminate to stand out. but since u know what it looks like, u will have a good idea! here's the pix of how the black and white contrast on our 11ft wardrobe.
