  1. Hi all Sidetracking - i don't have anything to add to this thread but can I just say what a great forum this is and I whole heartedly support the idea of coming up with a blacklist of companies to prevent more innocent customers from falling into these scams/traps! We just got a place recently and being foreigners in this country, you have no idea how useful renotalk is in our decision making! Keep it up and as for co*zy, will be staying far away from them and telling the whole world. There are many ID companies/contractors/furniture shops who read this forum so it's about time we create awareness - the internet is indeed powerful!!
  2. hi all does anyone know whether there's any KitchenAid sale coming up soon? Also does anyone use a marble worktop/slab to do their pastries given how hot and humid this country can be? I'm thinking of getting one but I'm not sure where to find one. Can I just buy a regular marble slab and use it or are there 'specific' ones for pastries?
  3. Hi, thanks for the tips. Last Question - where do you guys buy all your electrical appliances - e.g. fridges, TV, ovens etc? i reckon its better to buy from 1 shop to bargain for discount instead of spreading it all over? I should also avoid places like Harvey Norman and Courts as they would be more expensive? How abut audio house? Any tips would be useful
  4. so if an owner is asking for sale price of in the region of $650k its considered acceptable?
  5. hello, just wondering, anyone here staying in Redhill area? Would Redhill be considered an expensive area? Resale prices are quite high.
  6. hi all, i've been seeing increasing use of steam oven of late. but the price of steam oven is almost double of that of a normal oven. can anyone share iwth me what do they do with the steam oven apart from ... uh steaming food? i would have thought steaming the regular/usual way is easier?
  7. hi francine, have u gotten your 3D? Wanted to get some comparison
  8. Hi I hope you all will be able to help me as we just completed our first appointment and we're getting our keys soon for our flat. We're very new to all this and there seem to be a lot of info to digest so i hope i have the following right: 1) Selection of ID - We met up with 3 ID companies last weekend at Expo. One of them turned us off immediately as he wanted us to pay deposit as we were given the "coming-back-tomorrow-means-the-price-will-go-up" treatment. I decided not to waste my time with this design company. The other 2 which we saw was - and FUSE. I've scoured through renotalk and realised there hasn't been very good feedback on -. As for FUSE, I've been seeing some good comments. Now my question is this: - HDB seem to have 'approved' listing of contractors. And FUSE is on the list but has a Suspension and demerit points. Should I be concerned? See link: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/bn25/isos118p.nsf/e3...c8?OpenDocument - the suspension doesn't seem severe but i guess these things need to be taken into account? The last thing I need is to have HDB officers knocking on my door or running foul of their guidelines. - I'm looking for minimalist design to my flat so if anyone has any good experience with IDs in this area, please let me know. I've also read about Earnest Interiors - any good feedback on them? 2) I want to look for really funky items like tables, chairs, lamps without busting my budget. where do you look for these in Singapore? (if this doesn't give away anything, I'm not Singaporean/local). 3) During our talks with the ID, we mentioned that we'll be getting our keys on the 6th Nov and they seemed perplexed that we're only looking for an ID so late. I don't intend to tear the entire place down/apart as the last owner has done significant renovation. My main area would be the living and kitchen which would require a bit of work. I'm still hoping that I'll get to move in before the year end. Any tips would be most grateful!!
  9. has anyone worked with Peter of Fuse and if anyone has engaged them to do up their 5rm hdb flat?
  10. Hi, I had the same question as well. Except, we recently purchased a resale flat in Redhill and the unit comes with 3 aircon in all 3 rooms. We intend to fix one in the hall but I'm starting to worry on the amount of work and money to be spent on the piping and fixing an aircon in the living room. The flat is 8 years old. We're not familiar if this is possible - can anyone share?
  11. Hi We recently bought a 121sqm flat and our kitchen is relatively wide and big. I've always wanted a kitchen island or a breakfast counter/bar but am not sure if this is even possible in a HDB flat. Has anyone done or seen one before? Would be great if you could share. Thanks!
  12. Hi Guys. Ok, this may not be the best forum to ask this but just wondering, is anyone here considering to rent out their unit or knows someone who wish to rent out their unit? I'm looking for a 2+1 f/f unit @ Blk 90, Tanglin Halt. 3+1 can be considered if the budget is OK. I'm NOT an agent if you're wondering. Me and my fiance are both Malaysians (EP holders) looking to rent a HDB @ Tanglin Halt near the MRT station. Thanks!
