-
hi jaCKY777, ur PM's mailbox is full. yes, u may come over. i'll be going down to my unit tmr too cos got installation work...wat time will u be reaching? ya..and i dunno where the extra 1sqm came from. and the recess i want also not there. Haha ! My photos are already in the storeroom. <<--u're so "encouraging" leh! when u were given the appt date/time to select ur unit, u were already given the brochure. after u've selected ur unit, they gave u the floor plan too. u might wanna dig it out.
-
same unit no. might not have the same layout. alister and i are staying in the same unit but different level, we have differences. my floor plan isn't the same as the actual. u're welcome to pop by to see. just let me know. wei...dun like that lah! momentarily joy of collecting the photos after a long wait mah. it'll end up in the storeroom eventually. let me enjoy it 1st lah! lol!

hi Chunky Monkey, i bought my accessories from Indulge, Balestier. their prices are relatively lower than fellow competitors along the same stretch. in terms of service wise, they're very good, frank and knowledgeable as well. they'll recommend according to your budget and needs. delivery is on-time, no defects and packaging is properly labelled. if u have fancied a certain model/brand but u dun see it on display in Indulge, ask for their catalogue and you'll still be able to get from them. overall, it's a thumbs-up experience for me and my fiance. bernard (attended by him and also the MD), around only on weekends. roslyn, always there, are recommended ppl to look for. no commission for me but just to share something good. happy shopping!

Hurray and Hurrah to Gadgetman! Congratulations for officially moving in! Alister, dino, almonddust, droplets, josephine, xinni, ebing & chrispy, M&M, shay_d & I will be joining you and strawberry_pear soon! **fingers crossed for no delays**

wat goes ard, comes ard lah. hahaha! i think it'll take another 2-3yrs before majority of the units are taken & occupied.
-
but u'll learn not to make the mistakes the pioneer batch of residents made. pros and cons for everything. we'll have to endure the reno noise and never-ending amount of dust after moving in too. cheer up!

MERRY X'MAS to Redwyrm and all! my reno is running at a snail's pace... only 65-70% done. shay_d's gonna call our ID later to haunt him on EHD (expected handover date). supposed to be b4 x'mas...impossible! although we're in no hurry, sian ah...everyday hoping for something to happen...everyday gotta sniff around for clues of progress... so far, our ID's not bad... but wld suggest u source ard 1st.

base on understanding for HDB's revised ruling (especially for our blocks), hacking of walls require PE. your quoted $350 is probably only for hacking. our hacking is FOC but PE is a separate $$ factor. tension_z if ur contractor quote u above $500, i think he probably added the hacking cost into it. check if he's charging u another fee for hacking. if not, try to neg. to $500 only with hacking @ FOC. hacking is actually very easy for them. in abt an hour, an entire wall is down. it's commendable! at least it answers many questions that you might have. but she'll probably read a lot of repeated questions and answers too...hahahaha!!
-
i'll be there ard 12pm. =) so shall see ya either at yours or mine ok! haha! who else is going to their unit tmr? i wanna go see see look look too! josephine, i wanna go to yours! are u going up?
-
hi meepok! u love to eat meepok eh? hee! welcome and congrats! defects can go from hollow tiles (use coin/key to knock), cracked tiles, loose/too tight window hinges, house shelter handle can't turn up to 90deg when door's closed, leaking taps, unable to flush toilet bowl, switch plate is loose, switch not working, nail sticking out from the ceiling...the list goes on. BUT which are the ones they REALLY rectify is the biggest question. cement screeding involves hdb's engaged contractors. u'll need to submit ur form asap to hdb branch office cos it might quite a long queue before ur screeding can be done. it'll be screeded up to 40mm max. from floor level. no payment is required by u so dun be conned if the workers ask for more $$. they'll cement screed ur entire house if u're doing full parquet or laminate. but they won't do the entire house or some areas if u're using tiles e.g. living room. most ppl cement screed their 3 rooms cos they're using laminate. the choice is yours. $20k is possible for very simple reno. as for good contractors, i suggest u read back previous posts/pages and u'll find some useful tips to your enquiries. hope all goes well for u!

oh i any time also can. u're there from 11am-1pm or will reach between 11am-1pm?.

btw, anyone's ID pays the Removal of Debris fee for you? i called Bishan-TPY Town Council today to feedback on the piling uncleared rubbish...it's gonna be the sky's the limit soon! it's so high that my chute's door can't even close! and for those of u who knows where i stay, imagine the rubbish......and the smell...... explanation given was the contractor's/renovator's park their trucks/lorries/vans illegally and block the Refuse Collection area "for the past few days"...thus resulting to this insane and unhealthy situation. !! was told enforcement such as summons and police patrol have been taking place but no avail. they've contacted hdb to assist in their enforcement as by right, the rubbish shld be collected daily...acceptable explanation?

-
hey chrispy! replying on shay_d's behalf..hehe! i would say our painting has completed..and i love it! not sure if shay_d does but believe he's quite neutral. hehe! with the paint done, the house looks more complete and whole. but i dun think they'll be able to complete before x'mas...which is quite expected. we're still pending acid wash, lights installation and carpentry. yours?

hi all, sorry to impose... i'm from tpy's forum and need help, if any... anyone going to Designer Lightings, along Balestier Rd to get your lights...if you are, please let me know via PM. i've fancied another dining light from another shop, but i couldn't get a refund as we've made full payment. if possible, i would appreciate to receive your payment to Designer Lightings in replacement for the amount I've paid to them...before they deliver to my place for installation... *desperate* -

wow jo! u bought from Singapore Lightings! we went to recce and the lights are expensive! even our ID told us not to go after we told him cos they mark their prices quite high... how much u spent there? hey almonddust! it was great to meet u & ur fiance earlier on and thanks for showing us your unit and sharing useful tips ! will definitely bear some of the fengshui tips in mind! i wanna check with my ID on the conceal wiring too!
-
anytime, M&M! i'll be looking forward to see more of your reno...especially that cool bedroom of yours! hacking a wall is a great difference!! alister, i wanna see the true colours too~ LOL!!

hi shercjw, welcome to tpy forum! thanks for the compliment! though we may fancy the black & white toilets...when my mum saw my black toilet...her lips became "n". it doesn't suit all generations and if u mind your parents, in-laws, grandparents minding it...u might wanna reconsider. as mentioned by shay_d and many, u may overlay your entire toilet tiles, no hacking for the 1st 3yrs. whereas for ur kitchen floor tiles, u may hack (permit to be granted by HDB). and....Pergo brand is for floor laminate. i think shay_d meant Goodrich Global . we'll be using Goodrich's wallpaper for our MBR, but not the entire room cos we dun want our room to look gawky. wallpaper is more expensive and as advised by ID, it doesn't last very long. tender care must be exercised or it'll warp very soon, especially with SG's climate as it'll usually be warm during the day, then we'll on air-con @ night...so we're praying ours will last a good 5yrs at least! some only 2yrs! but there's a chemical that can be used if u start to see peeling edges...so there's still hope. fret not! do note the texture, thickness and the back of the wallpaper that'll be pasted on the wall. if the backing is rough, good. if it's kinda smooth, probably not...sorry i can't remember the exact reason but i note the importance. my basin will be shifted to the adjacent wall cos like what u've mentioned, it's very near WC & it has very limited space to fit a bigger basin or a bigger vanity cabinet. up to individual. a way to cover some of the orh-bit HDB toilet tiles is to spread a large mirror across the main wall. this is zanie98's ID's suggestion. good savings!

a precaution for all neighbours: of late, a few of us have experienced things missing/taken/stolen from our units. we'll keep the names of these neighbours anonymous. some are small items, others amounting to hundreds. we also realised these happened after our cement screeding is done. though we dun have concrete proof, to put a stop and prevent future thefts from happening, advise all neighbours to change your lock code/padlock after hdb contractors have checked your defects (do they even check our report?), uploaded your haulage (a lot of uploading is done late night by foreign workers) and done your cement screeding (asking for kopi $$). any time before all these are done, dun keep any of your purchases in the household shelter. if possible, keep your delivery to the time it's ready for installation. everyone's budget is getting tighter as the days go by. dun wish to let these thieves earn out of our misery. moreover, the locks aren't damaged therefore it's unlike a break-in. pls be careful.
