  1. Anybody know what is going to replace the Econ minimart? Hopefully it's something good
  2. Thanks Xlan and H4ppy for the plumber's contacts...
  3. Hello, can I have the contact for the plumber as well....my MBR shower mixer (provided by HDB) is also faulty, have been faulty since we moved in...irritating!!!
  4. Wah Purplesky, I read your post I also blood boil about ur contractor lor.....such attitude how to survive in Singapore? And I am surprised they are not blacklisted!!! Anyway, I think the stainless steel nowadays rust quite easily. I bought a Teka sink, it starts to get rusty at some corners already. So dissapointed. Should have gotten Franke sink instead the other time. Now regret!! If you want accessories (e.g. bathroom, kitchen), like what h4happy mentioned, go for Song Cho, the chicken brand. They are slightly more expensive, but i think its value for money... All the best to ur reno, hope u can get it done before CNY. I believe it will all be worthwhile when u shift into ur hse, cos going anywhere from jalan membina is so convenient (JB not included)....
  5. From Blk 26D, we cannot see the fireworks for national day....not sure about new years day. Will there be fireworks from Sentosa?? If there is, we might be able to get a glimpse..
  6. I find that the stuffs that HDB provides for our home is kindof sub-standard. First it was the faulty gate hinges.... Then now the mixer (bathroom shower) in my MBR became "rosak".....once I push the knob down to allow water to come out from the tap, and when I try to pull up the knob to change it back to shower head, the water cannot go back anymore.....it becomes half from tap, half from shower head... any neighbours face the same problem as me? or is it only my house???!!!! **** irritated by all these silly things!!
  7. I bought my doorbell, lights, ceiling fan, switches etc all from AMK Industrial Park. But you don't have to go so far...you can get them from any hardware shops or even those shops selling lights along Balestier road.
  8. Anyone using Philips rice cookers?? any comments?? 2 weekends ago, Best Denki was having a $99 promotion on Philips rice cooker.
  9. Hi Purplesky, I am using the battery operated door bell....no problem to-date... There are a few brands of locks which you might want to consider....there is this brand call Dura and another brand Castle...think pricing for both will cost slightly more than $100+. Can get it anywhere......but if u want to bargain...can go those hardware shops are Sungei Road...they usually offer some discounts...
  10. Hi Happy, The top latch got problem lor...there is no bottom latch for me cos my contractor did not drill the hole for me, he say if drill hole for the bottom latch, it will be dirty cos will collect dust/ dirt.
  11. Hi Purplesky, I am using a storage heater as well...its installed outside the toilet. Think its more straightforward for the contractor to install it outside, cos all the pipings are already outside the toilet. Nevertheless, I have seen some of our neighbours place their storage heater inside the toilet as well...It will be much neater but I think the contractor needs to do more work (i.e. u need to pay them more as well). My kitchen sink is undermount...according to contractor, nowadays more ppl do undermount....he did mention that it will be neater and the finishing will look better when undermount...the actual benefits, i cannot remember...maybe it will be easier to wipe the water on ur table top back to the sink?? Hehe... As for window grills, I've got no kids at home, therefore, never do grills...I have curtains though...it cost me around $1.4K+ to do day and nite curtains for my whole house (4 room flat). I dun think its the cheapest, if you scan through the previous posts by some of the other neighbours, think they recommended some shops in Katong or something. Hope the above information helps Happy surfing and happy renovating..
  12. Hi All, just to check if anyone of you have problems with your metal gate??? The latch of my gate seems to be faulty....I used to get my contractor to repair for me....now that the renovations are over, dunno who to approach already. Any neighbours have the same problem as me?? or have any contacts where I can call?? TIA
  13. I am not totally sure as well...but heard its a brand started by a Singaporean...alot of ppl told me Max Coil is made in Batam...dunno how true?? But I have tried their Mattress...not too bad, quite comfortable...and price wise, its much cheaper than the major brands. Another thing I note for Max Coil is...every shop selling the mattress will have their "exclusive" models....but its actually more or less the same....guess it works the same for other mattresses as well..not only Max Coil. End of the day, its the "Feel" that matters and also what budget works for you. Maybe those whom have bought Max Coil mattress can comment about the quality???
  14. Hi Purplesky, The problem with these contractors is that they should have let us know the charge per point before they start work. I remember them telling me its $20 plus per point only...now becomes $38!! I've checked with my friends, their ID's electrician only charges $23 plus $6. The electrician charging me about $1,600 for all the lights. Think you probably have more lights in ur house then mine...all these things really adds up to a quite substantial sum hor...
  15. Hi All, may I know how much were you all being charged per power point by your ID/ contractor? My contractor's electrician is charging me $30 per extra lighting point and $8 for installing per down light...Is it on the expensive side?
