  1. Yeah, he would love a Starcraft backlit keyboard, a copy of Windows Home server 2011 or Windows Small Business Server with 5 client / device licences, a couple of 120GB SSD drives .......... Seriously though, we have tonnes of clothes, soft toys probably not needed so much as based on Ethan, he will probably just ignore them. Games for 1-2 year olds would go down well. Things for younger children tend to have a very limited shelf life. We have most the basic stuff like cups, bowls, bottles, baby walkers etc. If anyone is stuck, a red packet will do as we can put it in his account for his future. Either way is good for us. I would send to your gmail but I do not have it to hand at work. PM me and I will send Can I take it we should also expect your good lady wife to attend as well ? RB
  2. hafiizh & Kobelala, You mailbox is full. I need your emails to send the invite to. Please let me know. Thanks RB
  3. For first time cleaning we generally use a soft broom to brush debris up and then dust the floor with a microfibre cloth broom thing . For a washing we use a sponge mop with a little soap but make sure the mop is just wet so you get wet strokes but not puddles. If there is too much water the just use a cloth to dry. It is advisable to dry the floor rather than letting it dry naturally but.... if there is not that much water then it will probably do no harm letting it air dry. For maintenance, the lady who cleans for us once a week uses the vacuum cleaner on the floor and uses the sponge mop if needed but knows to use with very little water in the sponge. Cloth mops would not be recommended as they can tend to hold a lot more water. RB
  4. Ok ladies and gentlemen Please can you pm me your email addresses and I will send the e-invite out with our address on it. Yes Ely, I already have yours . Thanks RB
  5. It is the Linux kernel that is the issue which should be fairly common on all flavours of Linux so I doubt it would work . RB
  6. Ok, I have raised a bug ot the makers of Fedora as it seems the Linux kernel cannot handle the new Intel H67 chipset and my Inter GT 1000/Pro netowrk card and are disabling the IRQ for the nic resulting in very slow network speeds. I am currently going to try out Windows Home Server 2011. Wish me luck . RB
  7. At that price I would image it is a 'special' one. It is probably better than the NTUC type extension leads using a bigger gauge of wire which can help a little but much past that you are paying for the build quality and possibly surge protection / aesthetics. The cable going to the power socket is of a certain type / gauge. Anything between it and the electronics in the amp can only match that level. Think of it this way... changing the pipe from the petrol pump to the car is not going to make the car faster of fill the tank faster if the pipe on the inside of the pump to the storage tank underground is no better. You can maximise to the other pipe going to the underground storage tank but above that is just for show. S$99 for a decent extension lead is really not so bad especially for decent surge protection. It is the S$100+ for a single power lead that is silly money. Surge protection is a good reason for spending some extra cash on the extension lead. This should protect your equipment if you get a lightning strike or spikes on the power coming from outside your apartment (from SP services). As HDBs have lightning rods earthed in to the ground lightning strikes are not so much of a concern but it is not a bad thing to pay a bit more just for the peace of mind. RB
  8. I would imaging it is a power extension lead with multiple sockets. RB
  9. Ahh, maybe the 1900 was a bit of an under estimate ED. So more like 2.6k, about what you are saying Drexter. RB
  10. Hi Larrby, Checkout the Dolby website which give you a guide for setting up speakers and optimum placement Front sides around 90cm from the tv, the backs level with the front of the tv and turned in by 22-30degs. The speakers should also be at seated ear level. Now these are 'perfect' positions and you may not have 90cm each side of your TV so adjust as to make it fit in to your environment. Ear level is certainly better though and the L/R front speakers, contrary to how most people set them up, should not be right next to the TV. The center speaker is meant to lock the movie sounds to the TV which is why it is placed under/over the TV. The front L/R speakers are to provide directional effects. Put them too close to the TV and where is the direction... For music, the L/R should be about the same as long as the distance to the listening position is equal. RB
  11. Depends on oyur ability and the bracket. Hard to say without knowing either. A photo of the top and side of the bracket would be helpful. RB
  12. Cool, save on singtel and starhub and view tv in the fresh air . Unfortunately our balcony overlooks a bank and main road so probably better it has a roof/windows and has been made part of the living room. RB
  13. Put a telescope on your balcony and you will quickly get a lot of privacy as everyone is too scared to open their curtains . RB
  14. I was actually just talking about the draw shape but looking at it, I like both. The darker one is def more cosy and luxurious but will be quite a bit darker. The lighter one will be much brighter, sunnier and happier but will bet scuffed and marked easier. Ohh, choices, choices. With kids or kids soon then top one no question. Without kids for a while and fairly careful then probably bottom one with top ones draws . RB
  15. Lower picture I think looks nicer and more modern but.... Quicker to look old fashioned, sharper lower edge may be dangerous for kiddies bumping in to it, can't move so close to the worktop, have to be further away from the worktop to open the draws as the slanted bottom will be closer to you. Good luck . RB
  16. Yes agreed but what I think people, including myself, are saying is that proper doesn't need to be super expensive. If, to you, proper means a couple of hundred people at a big banquet then that is fine but now days it seems a lot of people do not 'need' this sort of massive glitzy affair and would rather save the money for a once in a lifetime honeymoon or as an investment in their future (property, investments etc). Bottom line of course is that it is your day and your money so do what makes the two of you happy . So do something about it. I have lots of time for those who see something they don't like and try to change it. Unfortunately too many people moan about not liking this and that but refuse to do anything about it stating that they "will start tomorrow" or "it's just too hard". Weight loss is a hard process but the rewards can be great if someone sticks to it both in health regards and in self image. I have first hand experience of this going from 20Kg overweight (based on BMI recommended which is flawed but will do as an example) to about 5Kg over but have bounced back up to a very embarrassing weight again. The worst is that being tall I can wear it quite well until it becomes very obvious and then it takes a long time to get it sorted out. Please try to stay away from the crash diets are they are really not very good for you and in order to loose the weight and keep it off you need to understand the changes in your body that happen as you get older and adjust for them. With a decent diet and some regular exercise, you will not need to totally cut out the fun extravagant foods as you will be able to tune your body to burn it all off. Diets involving carb blockers are likely to see you loose great amounts of weight and then put it all back on and find it even harder to loose later if your diet and exercise has not significantly improved. Loosing weight is not just about diet, you need to get the exercise too but that doesn't mean you have to join a gym. If anyone is serious about wanting to loose some weight, either a little or a lot, then just PM me or whatsapp me or reply and I am very happy to help steer them in the right direction that doesn't involve drugs or crash diets, just healthy food, a reasonable exercise plan and suggestions / encouragement on how to maintain the momentum and keep it all going. RB
  17. Just need to keep it clean to avoid the fungus growing. Not too bad a price to pay TBH for suck a great view. RB
  18. His wife probably drunk the other half when he wasn't looking . RB
  19. Financially you are much better off spending the cash on your property than on the wedding as the wedding will come and go and if you are lucky you will have some good memories and some nice photos. Saying that, I was aghast when my ex (Taiwanese living in New York) suggested that for marriage we should just get the legal requirements out the way in citihall (ie. the US town hall) and nothing else . Financially it makes sense but there has to be a little romance, surely.... RB
  20. If he has drilled through the wall and hit a cable and then put through a metal pipe then the pipe could be live which is a serious matter. I would imagine he may have nicked a cable causing a short then. If the MCB is just for a single circuit to the bathroom then the rest of the stuff should be ok in the house. If a pipe is touching the wires then any movement of the pipe may be shorting the circuit so water flow for example could cause the MCB to trip. That sure is a fun one to try and figure out if you didn't know about the drilling . Ep2, turn up the interview so you can hear them talking at a nice level then watch the whole episode without touching the volume... fantastic. Get revenge for the barking dogs. Still got to get round to watching Bastogne. Still have to get round to watching Pacific when I get my hands on it. Watched the Perl Harbour DVD recently (only the second half as the first half is soooooo boring) and even on just DVD it was pretty good with the Pearl Harbour attack. RB
  21. Sounds like you have a short in the system somewhere. Possibly a loose wire worked itself loose in a socket. We had someone come round to pick something up I was selling (forget what it was now) and 10 minutes before they arrived, all power went out with a bang. I reset the MCBs outside and it went again with a bang and light over in the corner of the study area. I turned everything off in the study area by the plugs and reset the MCB and it all worked fine. I slowly turned the sockets back on in the study area until a loud bang, sparks inside the socket and all power was off again. Did the same turnoff->turn on one at a time again on the 6 way extension connected to that socket until I narrowed it down to the power lead for my PC. Changed the lead and no more power off. The faulty lead was moulded with no sign of wear or damage. Threw it away and have been good ever since. Have you tried unplugging everything rather than just turning it all off. Standby can have quite a power draw on the circuit. is it the same MCB (the block that replaces where fuses used to be in the consumer unit usually by the front door) that trips every time. If so then working out which circuit it is connected to should allow you to use the other ones. You can then work through the devices on that circuit. I recon it must be your sub overloading the circuit, maybe you should sell it . RB
  22. If it works I will buy up all the stock and sell them myself. Special discount to RT member . RB
  23. "Much to your husbands demise" ? You planning on killing him ?. Is that your black widow costume ?. If so I really don't think you should advertise on an internet forum. Maybe the earlier serial killer comment was a bit closer than I thought . Sorry but really could not resist. Maybe much to your husbands disappointment (possibly an auto spell check incorrect substitution in the previous post ?) was closer . Not if the hubby is around .
