  1. Thanks Spikey and samgalz, My electrician told me that this is the latest model. I'm in doubt as I can't find any information from the web abt schneider electric. No regret. I like the schneider electric design compare to MK
  2. My electrician went to install the switches using MK even I had request for Clipsal switches. I ask him to change to clipsal. He bring in Schneider switch. When I ask him, why it is not Clipsal. He say Schenider has bought over by Clipsal. All the same. Are they the same?

  4. http://www.temasekreview.com/2010/07/28/fr...s-and-athletes/ Free condoms will be distributed to officials and athletes of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) at the medical clinic of the Youth Olympic Village (YOV). The bizarre move was agreed upon after discussion between the Singapore YOG Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Committee with UNAIDS providing the condoms whose brand is not revealed. “We have to be mindful that the athletes coming to the Youth Olympic Games are minors and in accordance to Singapore’s law, the age of consent for sexual activity is 16 and allowing free distribution of condoms within the Youth Olympic Village may be misconstrued by the young athletes,” the organizers were quoted saying in Channel News Asia. It is not known why the condoms are still being distributed to the young athletes when they may lead to indirect promotion of promiscuous sexual behavior. It is also not mentioned if the condoms are reserved for YOG athletes only or freely available to all Singaporeans as well. There were earlier reports of Singapore volunteers being sexually harassed by the visiting YOG delegates last year who pestered them to spend the night together in their hotel rooms. The YOG has drawn much flak from Singaporeans lately for its excesses. It has already exceeded its original budget by more than twice to shocking $387 million dollars. Many Singaporeans feel that the money can be put to better use by helping the poor and needy. A Facebook group has been set up calling on Singaporeans to boycott the YOG here. In contrast, the PAP allocated only $92 million to the ComCare and Social Support Programme for needy Singaporeans in 2010. When asked to increase the monthly allowance for Public Aid (PA) recipients in 2007, PAP Minister for Community, Youth and Sports Dr Vivian Balakrishnan retorted: “How much do you want? Do you want three meals a day at a hawker center, food court or restaurant?” Despite the extensive media publicity given to YOG, the response from Singaporeans has been lukewarm so far, prompting PAP MP Zainudin Nordin to admit that “more support” is needed from Singaporeans. “It is now about coming to action, coming to converge at the Olympic venue to support our athletes and also for us to show how much we are interested in sports and promote the sporting culture in Singapore, not just for the Youth Olympic Games spirit also the future of Singapore,” he was quoted as saying in TODAY. Besides distributing free condoms, the organizers may consider sending experts to teach the youth basic sex education and techniques and to provide on the spot HIV testing at the clinic. A study may also be conducted to see if there is a spike in Sexually Transmitted Diseases at NTU after the YOG.
  5. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1071910/1/.html SINGAPORE: The Housing and Development Board (HDB) is investigating 300 cases for unauthorised subletting with four owners losing their units and six fined for illegal subletting so far. This comes after HDB stepped up enforcement against unauthorised subletting and conducted 2,600 checks on HDB flats in the first five months of this year. Of the 300 cases, 59 cases are suspected to have infringed the subletting rules. Meanwhile, the four flat owners who lost their units did not occupy the flats they bought and sublet without HDB’s approval. Of the 2,600 checks, 1860 were identified from HDB’s routine inspections while the remaining 740 were based on feedback by the public. The checks were a four-fold increase compared with the 690 inspections carried out from August to December 2009. Cases where flat owners lock up one room and sublet the rest of the flat without physically staying in the unit will be treated as unauthorised subletting if home owners do not meet the minimum occupation period and did not seek HDB’s approval to sublet their flats. Flat owners are reminded to seek HDB’s approval if they intend to sublet their flats. They must also register subtenants if they sublet rooms. - CNA/vm

  10. http://askhdb.hdb.gov.sg/Home/hybrid/Theme...&Selected=4 Q: I am a resale flat buyer and I have some disputes with my seller regarding the resale transaction. Can HDB enforce the terms and conditions stated in the Option to Purchase for the seller and buyer? A: Sellers and buyers are contractually bound to complete the sale and purchase once the Option to Purchase is exercised. If either party breaches the terms of the agreement, the other party will be entitled to enforce the terms of the Option for specific performance, damages and/or any other remedy. If there is any dispute, the buyers and sellers may wish to consult a private solicitor on the rights and remedies in the matter. Alternatively, the buyers and sellers may wish to consider settling the dispute through mediation at the Singapore Mediation Centre. You can call them for assistance on the procedures and charges at 6332- 4366.
  11. http://askhdb.hdb.gov.sg/Home/hybrid/Theme...RecordQuestion= Q: Due to unforeseen circumstances, I do not wish to proceed to buy the resale flat. How do I go about doing it? A: Before the first appointment Either buyer or seller may submit a written request to HDB to cancel the registered resale application. After the first appointment Both buyer and seller must agree to the cancellation of the resale application and submit a written request to HDB for the cancellation. This cancellation, however, does not necessarily mean the Option to Purchase becomes void. In the case of a dispute, both parties will have to consult their own private solicitors.
