  2. great... do you mind sharing who your ID is? quite a number of those i've approached said they can't do my reno coz so little! and i have a lot of existing furniture i wanna bring!! yeah, we're planning to convert the planter to a balcony also... someone quoted me $1450... is it the same at yours?

  6. Haven't been updating this... was so busy with work, packing and figuring out the new place. Never realized shopping for lights was sooooooo stressful! Got most of it done except for the living room. Question for those who have a dressing table in the room, what type of lights do you have? I told hb i wanted those hollywood type bulbs all around and he asked if if I was planning to be a getai singer I want to take some pictures of our current place, for memories sake, coz we did spend 10 years here! Kinda sad to leave it actually....
  7. HI Applefreak, thanks! yup, that's why so sayang not to bring them with us.. these pieces were collected over the 10 years we've lived in our current place. Happy, yup... today finally saw the plans of an ID who could figure out how to position everything! Still got some changes to do but so far so good! BTW, I've also called Gina...hopefully she can get back to us soon. hey diva, thanks! space planning is giving us a headache now... almost figured out where to put most of the stuff except for the telephone table.... we may have to give it up, but hb feels sad to let it go... gotta try to figure it out
  8. what i just need is the following: 1. master bedroom side tables, dressing table, extra storage/tv area, half height head board 2. study room tables and shelves 3. tv console in the living room plus some shelves 4. extra kitchen cabinets 5. large stainless steel sink in the wet kitchen 6. timber planks for planter 7. 1.2 X .06 m mirror near the main door i've been very specific when I speak to ID's so they know what I want, but they still send me a quote with a full height 3 m feature wall for living room come with mirrors and laminate finish etc, etc etc...
  9. yeah, that's the dilema, proper designers find the project too small, but the common ID firms can't seem to think outside of the box....
  10. hi yoongf, actually, i've taken the time to sit down and discuss with the ID firms what I want and what I need, and have been very firm about the budget that we are expecting. I never said I wasn't going to spend the time listing out what our thoughts are, just that we may not have the time to visit the site everyday... I have even printed out pictures of our furniture and emphasized a few times that I wanted to bring these over and they need to design around it. My frustration is that most of the ones I've spoken to don't seem to listen!!!

  12. hi latitude, would really prefer to have someone like project manage the reno coz hb and I both travel extensively (i.e. he's in India now, I am working out of the JB office this week, next week I have to fly to Jakarta for 2 days)... so don't really have time to jagar the contractor! That's why I would also want to hire someone who is really dependable! Scared when I come home my house may look like a disaster area!!
  13. hi Happy.. yep, we both really liked it too... we saw this place the first weekend we started looking for a place and I think it spoiled all the other places for us... coz e compared all the other places we saw to this one! hi Yokine, actually it's not that big, bout 120 sq meters? My current EA is 147!!!!! I have lots and lots of big and bulky pcs either inherited or bought that I don't want to get rid off, so realy need an ID to help plan where to put them to avoid making the new place look too congested! Am uploading the pics and will post them here...
  14. this is the floor plan, tomorrow i'll try to upload pics of the current furniture i want to bring! maybe you guys can give me some ideas!

  18. hi fella, loved the way you did up your kitchen!
  19. We're moving to a brand new condo in July, minor reno needed mainly for the living room and the master's bedroom. I've approached a few ID firms, their replies ranged from "oh, sure, we're interested, even if it's a small job" then submit something totally outrageous from what we had asked them to do. Or that kind of reno is too small for our firm to the other extreme of you don't need to spend that money..... it's so frustrating!!! I can't even get into the mood to start a blog here coz am so stressed finding the someone to do the house.... any advice/tips??
  20. i really liked the lights in vlux in geylang, look for desmond, tell him the woman who likes everything bright i think i drove him crazy coz i kept asking for give me the biggest bulb and the brightest one! even for the storeroom. He was very accomodating aside from saying "huh? brighter? wah lau eh!!" price wise their not the cheapest, but loved their service.
  21. Does anyone know if this is available in Singapore?? http://www.1800sendsilk.com/catalog/showItem.php?sku=800513
  22. from what I know, Melandas is concentrating mainly on the export market, apparently, they are quite popular in Indonesia. I got a sofa from Massimmo, haven't had it delivered yet, but was very happy with the service of Aundrea in the Ubi branch.
