  1. You can call steven chua 9199 7789. My parents engaged him to do solar film for the entire house and are very satisfied with his work attitude and pricing. Subsequently, my place also done by him. Entire home quote me around $500 (but it really depends on the level of solar reduction and reflectivity you choose).
  2. hihi, i recommend Bosch dryer. It has a moisture sensor so will stop once the clothes are dried. The clothes also come out fluffy and not crumpled. The filter can easily be removed as well. I usually wash my clothes in the night time and hang them indoor. Will remove from the rack if they are dried when I return home from work next evening. If it is still not completely dried, I will throw them into the dryer. It normally will take less than 10 mins.
  3. I chose black galaxy granite over solid top for kitchen cabinet. No regret! White solid top is prone to staining but black solid top is prone to scratches.
  4. I am using Philip FC8734. Very satisfied with its performance. - The bucket is easily removable to empty. - The wire is long enough for me to vacuum my entire 5-rm flat with one change of plug position. - The "head" of the vacuum cleaner is smaller enough to went in between my dining chair legs. - It is relatively light weight. - Most importantly, the suction power is sufficient to pick up dust and hairs from the ground.
  5. If i have not bought Teka, I would have chosen Rinnai hood and hob. Heard that it is more suitable for Asian cooking...
  6. Ordered our curtain from MGL Curtain and was served by May. She is very sincere and make good suggestion of fabric without being pushy Initially wanted her to drop by our place instead of us going to their shop. But then, they dun do house visit cos' according to her that there is only so much fabric sample they could bring to customer's house. Most of the times, customers would still end up having to come down to their shops to choose. A guy drop by our place the following day to take window measurement. They will be coming down to our place to install the curtain tomorrow. Will feedback on their workmanship...
  7. Yup! Their workmanship is pretty good. But more importantly, their after sales service is excellent! Some defects are not noticeable until you shifted in and lived there. Initially we were worried that once the payment is fully made, the ID would just turn cold and even disappear (several such instances being raised in this forum). But we were fortunate that our ID is one of this kind. Even up till today, we just call him and he will send his workers down to make good. The reno took about 3 months. Seems a bit long but no complaints since we have told the ID we are in no hurry to shift in. It is the tic tac door mechanism... after prolonged use, some may become faulty. Just replace the mechanism, then the door should work fine. Ours HS door is inheritated from the previous owner. Thought it is still in good condition so decided to keep it instead of wasting it. Thanks! Both places are our favourite too. Besides nice to look at, they are also very functionable. Plenty of working space in the kitchen for preparation of food. And easy to maintain as well.
  8. We bought a super shaggy from one of the stall at the exhibition held at Singapore Expo last weekend. The stall is a carpet shop based at Meridian Hotel. The guy quoted us $480 and we close the deal with him at $400 (on the condition that we will self carry). The size is 200mm x 140mm. It is supposed to be dust-free (meaning would not produce dust), anti-statics and blah blah blah... Behind the rug is a sticker which certified that it is produced in Belgium and the quality is assured. Overall we are very satisfied with it cos it brings more warmth to our living room.
  9. I ordered mine from Yee-sin. They have standard rack as well as customised rack. Happy with their product and service. Here is their website. www.yee-sin.com
  10. Hihi, Here is the address and phone number: 265 South Bridge Road Singapore 058814 Tel: 6223 3575 It is near to Maxwell Food Centre. I paid $1112 for the hood and hob. Kind of regret on choosing Teka brand though, somehow more used to using Asian brand for cooking. Probably need time to adjust...
  11. Thanks for the compliment! Not sure of the brand of the gate. But it is a galvanised wrought iron gate. Our ID quote us $560 (before discount).
  12. My mom actually DIY open shelves for some of the recess area at her place. She mainly used them as display shelving.
  13. Or you can install open shelves. For the depth of 20-24cm, should be sufficient to use as bookshelves or even display shelves.
  14. My unit is beside the MRT track. Very noisy esp. in the evening. They said after a while you will get used to the noise level and somehow immune to it. But then again, having more soft furnishing at your place e.g. thick curtain, fabric sofa, rugs and etc will help to absorb the noise. Hard surfaces will on the other hand reflect the noise and thus more noisy.
  15. Haha! We also made a wardrobe in our study room for our clothings.
  16. Alternatively, you can use the plastic sliding shower screen. It has a bottom track and you need not redo the flooring.
  17. Genuine leather sofa could go a long way if it is properly maintained i.e. not constantly being exposed to direct sunlight and regularly polish it with leathercare. But I choose a fabric sofa since I am the lazy kind...
  18. Daiso also sells some plastic display box. But mostly are of smaller sizes.
  19. Hi, I thought KDK is quite a common brand in the market? Anyway, I bought mine at Licht Studio. 592A Balestier Rd. Singapore. 329902
  20. I would like to give feedback on my recent experience with Maximum Credit (the branch near Chinatown). I was recommended to this electrical shop by my colleagues who bought their electrical items from them. I was attended by a lady named Linda. I called her many times over the phone to check on the prices of several items we are looking at and she is very patient to explain to me the differences between the models and provide me with the quotes (even though I have not decided to place my order with her yet). Finally we ordered our LCD TVs, fridge, washing machine, dryer, hood, hob and almost all other small electrical items from them. The items were scheduled to deliver on two separate dates as per my request. Both deliveries were prompt. In fact, I managed to add in a standing fan few hours before the 2nd delivery. Only a minor hiccup… the electrical connection of an electrical kettle was problematic. But Linda offered one-on-one exchange even though I discovered the fault several days after the item is delivered to my place. Have recommended the shops to my sister who has ordered a fridge from them. She is satisfied with the item condition as well.
  21. Nice DIY on your kitchen trolley! Made full use of your granite.
  22. Most important thing to look out for during house visit is workmanship... check out the tiling: are the floor tiles evenly laid (should not feel "edgey")? Grouts should have even thickness and aligned properly. The carpentry: are the joints between the laminates nicely aligned? carpentry work firm and sturdy? Paintwork nicely done? Look out for untidy paint lines along skirtings, next to carpentry works etc? Also check out the design aspect to see if the designer/ID has a good sense of colour combination and space planning. If you can find creativity in problem solving e.g. hidden storage, conceal pipings etc, it will be a bonus point for the ID. But to note that some times ideas could come from homeowner themselves. Try to speak to the homeowner alone to find out whether they have a difficult times during the renovation process. Our eyes can only see the end product but the process of coming to the end could be painful. Must lure the ID away when doing so... But at the end of the day, to also note that the ID will choose which house to bring you to view. So most likely it will be his/her best case at hand. So have to be as critical as you can when examining them. Take your time to choose an ID you are comfortable to work with. Rushing into making decision may result in sleepless nights for the next 2-3 months and for worst case scenarios you can read from the painful experiences of some of the forumers.
  23. At the end of the day, your home should express your individualism instead of conforming to some design standards so long as you have sufficient level of illumination to support your activities esp. reading. Let your home be filled with things you like and your mood will be happy everyday...
  24. Can make it an one-stop laundry area i.e. wash, dry, fold/iron? Can even use the place to brew soup using charcoal burner? For storage of various cleaning agents by having a rack/trolley?
