  1. Hi charemme, thank you for your compliment. Anyone also can DIY their own reno design mah. Actually, nobody knows what we really want other then ourselves. Actually, I am saying this to console myself too If budget permits, I would have engaged a designer to do up our place. Sigh... I am sure the effect will be better, more perfect...that is if you find the right designer lah Here's some update as of today. Our curtain in the living room is up. Not bad for a "home-made" curtain by mummy dearest I absolutely love this part of the house...our TV Console & Feature Wall. Had intended to have a long runner to prevent scratches from the photo frame on our high gloss laminate but I found this silver/metallic round table mat from TANGS @ Vivo. The cool and classy look certainly do not match the price I paid for. My guy think it was a good buy too
  2. Try Comfort http://www.comfortfurniture.com.sg or OM. Vaguely remember I have seen it there but I am not sure.
  3. Hi stormcontrol, Yes, the kitchen sink tap is detachable. You can see it everywhere now. This thing has been around for years it seems But we like the mobility of it. The flooring in most part of the house are the existing floorings...from HDB...so it's crappy standard.
  4. Hi BunBun, I paid below $450 for that light. Cannot remember the exact amount as the invoice is in our new house now.
  5. Hi Smallboy, I guessed it depends if you are getting them to design one for you or take any of their existing designs. As I "designed" it on my own, so only got them to print. It cost me S$25 + S$5 Postage. Total S$30.
  6. Hi xherion, thanks for the compliments. Currently, that's the only wall with wallpaper as it's suppose to be a feature wall in the MBR. We are doing another wallpaper / mural at the passage way to MBR but due to time constraint, we will most likely do it after our AD and after we move in We have plans to wallpaper some parts of our dining room too but that's also a later project I suppose. Are you going to wallpaper your house too? I love wallpaper. It gives the place a touch of class.
  7. Hey hi xherion, yes. I am looking forward to see Piggybank's house too. Her purchase is also timely as I have just renovated my place, so can share some notes. Please see my comments below. Not sure if it helps...
  8. hahaha... no worries and thanks for sharing. As of now, I am glad I managed to hunt the red kettle. So shall live with it for now Hey, anyone know where I can get nice and looooooooong table runner? It's for my TV console which is about 230cm. Most of those we saw are shorter.
  9. Hi xherion, it will be best if you give us the breakdown. Then we will be able to gauge better
  10. Hi Pinkpetter, thanks for the compliment. Eh... I sort of 'created' that monogram on my own with photoshop suite. I wanted a 4 by 4 border initally but could not achieve a satisfactory outcome. Time is not on our side, especially when we have to juggle work, reno, AD & the wedding banquet. If only we can take time off to do and plan for reno...and get paid as well lah. hehehe. The decal was an absolute must. Otherwise, we may have people banging against it The birdy is really an "accidental design". From a sample trial to a permanent residence. hahaha. For nice kettles in Singapore, got meh? Where? Where? Please share Btw, it's from you that I got to know Decorette. hehehe. Thanks Thanks
  11. We pasted our decal on the kitchen glass sliding door...Finally!!! Amanda from Decorette enclosed a small sample piece (which is the red birdy you see on top of our monogram decal) for us to do a trial prior to putting up the actual decal. Some how, the red birdy seems fit to stay. The colour kind of blend with our red kitchen theme However, we may do some correction on the text (our names and the date). Firstly, I think they are a bit too small and non-proportionate. Secondly, we pasted the date a bit slanted by accident. Arggg... Took me quite a while to find a red kettle. Why are kettles always so boring looking in Singapore. Sigh...

  13. Hey hi, welcome to the reno forum. Jln Tenteram!!! That area was our love at FIRST Sight but we did not manage to get it. It was a 5 room flat at 105 sqm, block 19 and 25th floor some more! The view was awesome! The squarish floor plan rocks. When someone beat us to getting that place, I was almost in tears of disappointment. hahaha Haiz...now we are in the midst of moving into our love at SECOND Sight.
  14. Hi Smallboy, thank u for your compliments. I loved my basins too. hehe. I try to avoid stuff with pointy edges if possible. The wallpaper is from a shop recommended by a fellow forummer. It's Golden City at Joo Jiat Complex. They have some of the range from Goodrich too. The price is slightly cheaper. I guessed it's the GST that makes a difference as well. Hope it helps...
  15. yaya it will be good to change the colour of the frames but shall only work on it after we move in and recooperate our energy. So taxing to do reno actually. The bed is in but we have yet to buy the mattress. Broke at this point as we are also having our AD next month. Our dream mattress is Serta but shall probably let that go and settle for something less then $800 for now and upgrade after we have more money. hahaha
  16. Thanks kastlekonfusion for your info. Shall let my resident engineer aka hubby know. His next project As requested by one forummer, kindly see the wallpaper job done.
  17. oh dear yokine9a Why your bf scold you? What was his point?
  18. Err...may I please comment but please don't shoot me k? I still love reading your thread sister & I really felt the joy you had on the house and fustration which you were faced in some incidents You know, I used to be a super YIM JIM person. At the end of the day, the person who is suffering is us. Very XIN KU leh. Not that I am not YIM JIM anymore. I still am, only to a certain extend. Some times when we 'lower' our expectation a wee bit, we may find many happy surprises that pop up along the way. There will not be any perfect linings or perfect renovation maybe. It's just about measuring our expectation. Surely there were things that we thought can do more SWEE SWEE in our reno but we know it's a matter of give and take. Maybe it's because we have been quite steady with our contractor, so till date I think he has been very compromising. Anything, we voice out...he will have it fit. No two way about it. I move on to another scenario which my friend relay to me. Couple A bought brand new luxury car. Drove as per normal. Did not particularly slow down on humps or did not particularly take extra care on car. Car looked a little off after 6 mths of drive, but couple A remained happy. Enjoying each other's company when they are behind the wheels. Couple B bought ordinary Japanese car. Did not even tear off the plastic that were used to protect the car seats for new cars. Son scratched the car door accidentally. Couple B scolded son at the top of their voice and went on to confront each other for not teaching the son. Couple B were angry at son and each other. Where got happy? So the moral of the story is QING CHAI a bit lor. Happiness still rules. Sorry if I sounded silly but my point is as long as the 'non-perfect' work is not so obvious or cause any hazardous issues in your daily life, then ok bah. But if it's any technical issues, then by all means bring up your case.
  19. Yeah...we did lay that down as one BIG possibility too. Their stuff are not getting any cheaper to begin with. But I think their recent advertising gig on the "couple in carton box" is so insinuating
  20. I think maybe when economy is bad, many will head there to shop bah.
  21. Oh you are really being kind with your comments. Luckily, I did not have any major issues with my contractor. Heng ah.... Hey, I must yak with you about IKEA!!!! hahaha Think they are really getting very over the top. I intended to go down today to get some stools. Lucky this time I smarter...called to check if available. Just as expected, it's out of stock AGAIN!!! For both their outlets. Why huh? So many of their items are out of stock? What's the point of having a bigger outlet in Tampines leh?
  22. hahaha...perhaps you are right. But my point is not expensive = good. There were some good brands which I have used that cause tremendious skin issues for me. Most importantly is to find a product that suits you...both on the skin and in the pocket. From your comment, I gather that you are a guy? Both women and men are born with the same texture of skin. Why is it that men always develop 'rougher' skin as they grow as compared to women? The answer is perhaps on the attention they put on the skin. Perhaps? But reality is cruel. When a man has rougher skin, it means they are mucho. But when a woman has that, it means what? You tell me...
  23. Hey hi Zerochristy, didn't know you are looking for ID. If you thinking of using them, I do not think it's a problem as I have seen several good work by them. Dun deny their pricing is a little more steep then those neighbourhood or ah-beng-ID-wannabe kinda as this firm is developer by nature...so quality is on top of many others. We did not engaged them in the end because my fiance and I have decided to cut budget by designing the place ourself. Who did you see from ID Emboss? Do shop around a few more to make the final decision. The chemistry between ID and you is very important too.
  24. Hey hi. Yes, the green window frame has been an eye sore but there's nothing we can do since it's part of the house We even asked our contractor if we can over-paint it but they say it will not last more then a month as the material of the frame is like aluminum or something. sigh...The curtains can only cover some part of it only leh, not all... The cosmetics ah? No choice as I have very sensitive skin. So cannot take my chance on other brands. In any case, I intentionally structure the top drawer's height to be much shorter then the rest. This is to store the cosmetics more properly. Not sure if I make any sense to you. hehehe. Remember I told you I do my make-up in the bathroom kind? So this way, it helps me stay organised and not waste space.
