Judii 0 Report post Posted 7 hours ago Storm blew a branch straight through our loft skylight last week and the insurance assessor said it's an unusual size, apparently common with older conversions. Now scrambling to sort a replacement before more rain gets in through the temporary tarp. Looking for sealed units and bespoke glass examples that show manufacturers handling emergency awkward-sized replacements quickly. Anyone dealt with something similarly urgent and stressful? kiraaa23 4 Report post Posted 7 hours ago Proper nightmare situation, we had almost the exact same thing last winter when a fallen branch smashed through our landing window. Insurance took ages to even send an assessor and we were stuck with a tarp flapping in the wind for nearly a week. Ended up reaching out via contact AMB Glass after our builder mentioned they manufacture everything in-house from their Uxbridge workshop rather than farming orders out. They understood it was urgent, measured up the next day and had a custom sealed unit made within a week, not the six weeks every other supplier was quoting. They even sent photos before dispatch so we knew everything was spot-on before the glazier arrived. If you're in panic mode with weather getting in, finding someone who actually controls the whole manufacturing process on-site makes all the difference between a quick fix and weeks of waiting in limbo while the damage gets worse.
