Is Copart or Manheim better for used cars?

Recommended Posts

I’m comparing Copart and Manheim because I want to buy a used car through an auction. I’m mostly interested in getting a good deal, but I’m not sure which platform is better for vehicle selection, condition, and overall buying costs.

I wouldn’t choose between them based only on the auction price. This comparison of https://blog.autobidmaster.com/2026/05/copart-vs-manheim-auction-comparison/ helped me see that the two platforms can be quite different depending on what you’re looking for. Copart is particularly interesting for salvage and damaged vehicles, while Manheim has a strong selection of wholesale vehicles from dealers and other sellers. I’d compare several similar listings on both platforms and look at the full cost, including fees, transportation, repairs, and title expenses. Sometimes the cheaper winning bid isn’t the cheaper car once everything is added together.

I’d lean Copart if you’re mainly hunting for a good deal and don’t mind buying a repairable or salvage car. Manheim is more dealer-focused and you’ll generally see more traditional wholesale inventory there, while Copart gives you a much wider mix of damaged, repairable and used vehicles.

I’ve personally used Autobidmaster to buy through Copart and had a good experience. The biggest advantage for me was being able to bid without having a dealer license. Just don’t compare the two based on the hammer price alone. Auction fees, transport, repairs and title costs can change the final number pretty quickly.

I’d lean toward Copart if getting a good deal is the main goal. There’s a much wider mix of vehicles and conditions, so you can find some interesting deals if you’re willing to do the research. I’ve used Autobidmaster for Copart purchases and found the process pretty straightforward, especially without having a dealer license. Just make sure you calculate the full cost, including auction fees, transport, repairs, and title costs, rather than comparing only the winning bids.
