Poor Kitchen Cabinet Workmanship = Advise Needed! Pls Help~

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My house is in the midst of renovation and now they are in the progress of installing those built-in cabinets.

I have a problem with my kitchen cabinet.

You see, the contractor had informed the contractor that we will be having an oven below the hob but they have forgotten. So now they have rectified it but I don't think they have done a proper job. The initial cabinet that they have built is with 2 large drawers below the stove for pots and pan storage.

1. Are they suppose to put in the oven first before sealing up the counter or it's necessary for them to open up a hole at the backing to install the oven? If so, they did just open the hole by sawing and not cutting up the hole before installing the cabinet. From the pic, you are able to tell how bad the workmanship is by judging at the jagged raw edges that they have done. Although it's not visible to eyes after installing but I believe this is not the way to handover.

2. Between the hob and the oven, should they put a plank in between to seperate the oven and the hob? The sight is quite ugly as it seems to me.

3. The gaps beside the oven is like 6-7 inches at both sides. Is this normal? I'm afraid in the long term, there will be spiderwebs weaving their cobwebs in there and very dirty to remove.

Please advise whether all the above concerns are justifiable. Thanks alot! !!

Worse thing is my hubby is not around during this period and I'm handling all these stuff by myself.
