Selling On Your Own / Buyer Agent Asking For Commission

Hi,

Is it a common practise that the buyer agent asks for commission from the owner even though he's doing it on his own? Some agents will ask for commission - do you entertain their request? If so, how much is the usual rate?

i tink its the norm for buyer's agent to take maybe 1% commission frm seller cos a lot of paperwork involve during selling etc...unless u are an agent urself then maybe u can do a contra i guess

You only pay agent's commission when the agent is doing work for you. If you are confident in executing your part as a seller, then insist on not paying the commission.

Do take note of the commission agreement that the agent might push you to sign; once you sign, you pay. Period.

You only pay agent's commission when the agent is doing work for you. However, i believe in giving some incentives for the agent to work for you and of coz to settle all the paper work for you :)

There are pros and cons on selling own house....you have to think through it and decide if it is best of you.

usually agent will tell you to give them commission because buyer bring in by them. you got to know how to fend off such requests
