Personal Liability For Hdb Bank Loan

Recommended Posts

I have recently signed an OTP. Also have received the First Appointment Date. Once I purchase the flat. I would like to know if by chance the property value goes down, like for example a 390k 5 room Flat in Senkang falls to 300k or so... Then If I wish to sell it and I don't have the required difference amount to pay the bank, what would the bank do? I mean would surrendering the HDB to the bank be sufficient or would I have to pay the difference amount even after surrendering the HDB to the bank?

There is no such thing as "surrendering the flat to a bank". Banks by law cannot hold non bank related assets.

Bank will auction off the property, and any shortfall, will be a debt u will have to pay off.

Have More Questions:

1) Mortgage Insurance & Fire Insurance >> Do the banks have Mortgage Insurance which we can purchase if the property price falls below the current market value?

2) The rent which we receive from the property if we are not residing here after a few years, is that income taxable?

3) Is Inward remittance of money possible from other countries and what are the charges?

4) With the Present Global Scenario, how will Singaporean Banks be Affected?

5) If inflation comes down, I am assuming the interest rates would come down? Would It?

6) Principle Payment >> If I can pay-off a lump sum amount at the end of each year, e.g. I would pay 20000$ at the end of each year, so I would like to know if this amount will be adjusted against the principle amount and the interest will be calculated on the reduced principle amount from that period forth & Close Loan Faster?
