First Resale 4rm Hdb Reno

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I will be getting my resale 4 room 90sqm HDB flat next month.

This is my first purchase, would anyone guide me through what are the necessary reno needed and cost?

It is a 5years old design and build unit by HDB, it comes with Homogenous tiles in the living room and parquet in all the 3 rooms. The condition of the unit still looks very new to me thus I guess i do not need to do any major reno? What do you guy think?

The items in my mind is chemical wash and re-paint the unit? Any other areas which are possible points of failure?

Please assist with helping me breakdown the costs.

Thanks a lot in advance

My thought would be do what is necessary for yourself. Is there a need or want?

If you intend to upgrade your house next time, then perhaps don't spend too much on the reno.

Save the money for your next house instead.

Get those decorative unique furniture items from Space Furniture, Knoll etc. to beautify your house instead.

I'm not discouraging you not to do any reno, but if you have spare cash to do, just go ahead. :)

Well, its all depend on you whether to reno the place or not. If you think that the existing concepts does suits you then u could save costs... like mine, l need to redo the kitchen and toilets ... what u need to look out for is the rewiring, lf there is a/c - check if its still in good conditions or leaking. Kitchen cabinets- the doors and inside of it-is still is a good conditions... toilet is there any leaking stuffs like that.

Furniture wise - it all depends on your budget. And for 4room flat for painting as l been doing my survey- its all depends the range are from $800-$1600 cause it depend on the paint brand they are using...

Hope this helps!!!

Depends on:

1. Budget

2. Intended Length of Stay

3. Existing House Condition

4. Fussiness of Owner

For tiling works, built-in furniture, piping and electrical works etc you should do them before moving in (if at all). Otherwise it will be a hassle once you are already living in the house.
