A Simple Place @ Bedok =)

Recommended Posts

Hi people,

I took quite a while to look for a point block in the region, but the price was above or around $500K and also, the ages of these blocks are around 30 years old. Then, in August 2008, I chance upon this 10 year-old block (not point-block) and immediately love it. Thus, first appointment in October 2008 and got the keys in January 2009.

However, I took a long time to select an ID and the renovation started in week 1 of April 2009, and it is still ongoing. Alright, first thing first, below is the original floor plan. =)

Blog Summary – Updated 19 June 2010

For the benefit and ease of those new forumers (who might have "limited time" to read everything), I've created a summary list in my first post here (updated on the date given above in summary title).

However, if you do have the time, it is good to read through all the casual/small talks between me and other forumers, as there might be useful & valuable information/suggestions not to be missed. In any case, you decide. :)

End of Week 2

Part I

As I was busy, I missed the chance to take a photo before renovation started, and at the end of week 1 (which is basically all the hacking). Therefore, I shall start with photos from end of week 2 onwards, and the rest will be the photos that will do the "talking". ;-)

Remove balcony (doors) to create a bigger living room space. Windows and grilles will be constructed.

Wk2_DSCF2688.jpg

A door and wall will be created for this study room.

Wk2_DSCF2689.jpg

Hack off part of the kitchen wall to create a partial-see-through wall (with tempered glass). There's another view below.

Wk2_DSCF2693.jpg

Previous owner hack off the store room to create cabinets, but I intend to create back the store room.

This is another view of master bedroom, where the right is private balcony. Do take note that this master bedroom has no windows, thus a private balcony is there for this reason, I suppose.

This part of the wall between master bathroom and private balcony was the cause of the delay in my renovation. My ID wanted to create a bigger bathroom for me, so needed to hack the wall and rebuild it further into the private balcony, but HDB did not approve previously, thus needed further wait for their approval. Finally, now it is done!

Congrats!! Wow, private balcony.. *Envy* U have 2 balconies, no wonder u're removing one.. Big big living/dining area, gonna be enlarged even further with the removal of the balcony.. Hmm, no windows should be ok bah, but den if u dun use aircon all the time, u'd need to keep the balcony opened? Ur Floorplan very blurry, looks like bedroom 3 is quite small, but well, u have another study area.. Envy again.. Welcome and good luck to ur renoa dn ur handover!! :D

Edit*: I posted another post, dunno why it didnt appear..

Anyways ur house is very nice and you used alotta glass eh.. Very nice.. So which ID are u using? Must have spent a bomb on this major overhaul.. I love ur bedroom lights.. They all go well with each other.. Frosted glass for ur private balcony.. Sui! And congrats HDB approved the extending of the toilet into part of the balcony.. Now it looks very big.. Keep the pics coming, no1's complaining.. It's nice to see the transformation dat way.. Cheers!

Pinklady: Sorry, beat u to being first.. Hahaha.. :P
