Our First Home @ Bedok

Recommended Posts

Hi all, just came across this forum a few days ago and has been having infomation overload ever since...

Got our unit during the last Oct 2009 balance flats sale. Took a big step in selecting an EA as out first house. Don't intend to move again as the location and unit is good. Grateful for this unit.

Got our keys last march and proceeded with our ID, King Hall, in the last week of May.

I have reserved the next few posts for before, current and after pics so that you don't have to go through all the post to find the pictures. All the latest pictures will be updated in these first few posts.

kitchen progress

This is the kitchen layout that I sketched.

We're preserving the floor and wall tiling (no budget).... the cabinets and table top will be all white in colour.

The draining pipe for the washing machine will have to be built to accomodate the WM in that position. Intend to use a dryer in the future so the gas pipe will have to be channelled there too.

The kitchen is big but we had problems trying to accomodate the fridge and waching machine, along with the protruded dining area and we went through several layouts before deciding on this one.

Network Layout

Anticipating Opennet and the uses that comes with it.... Decide to put LAN points in various areas of the unit. The red boxes indicated below are were I will place dual network sockets. The STAR is where all the network cables will lead to the server rack. BR3 will not have network point as it can directly connect to the switch in the server rack.

As I browse through this forum, I notice that the market rate charged by electricians for each network points is about $80... so I decided to only ask the electrician to lay the cables and trunking for me, I will crimp the cables and setup the server rack myself.

Will get a wall mounted server rack like this at BR3:
