Hi all

Later in the night, we went to check out this shop A Lighting Enterprise at Geylang (recommended by someone in renotalk). We gave him the same items and guess what, the quote came up to $1000. That was like $600 savings to us ! Alex the owner was also very helpful and kind to point out certain features in the light we chose to prepare us for future maintenance. He also threw in a free doorbell for us.

Never trust ID when u recommend u where to shop.. They will ask the shop to cover them in terms of commission if they bring customers to them.. Naturally the respective shop have to inflat their selling price so as to cover the ID!!!! They work just like tour guides!!!

Hi..

I have a good lesson learned. My ID also never come and check the lights when they arrived today. Initially she told me she will still come and help me check. Just talk only. No commission for her now, guess she don't bother.

Hi all

Here's my experience at Italu Collection at Balestier. Hope it serves as a good guide to all.

On recommendation by my ID, we went down to look for lightings for the entire house at this shop. We managed to find all except for my girl's room. Total bill came up to $1646.73. The salesman was "kind" enuff to incl free doorbell and round off the figure to $1600. We thought everything was fine, trusting our ID and settled the bill. After leaving the shop, we decided to check around other shops for my girl' room. To our surprise, all other shops quoted lower for the exact same light that we bought for our study room and guestroom. Italu's retail price for that particular light was around $120, we were charged $100. But other shops' pricing was between $50 to $70 !!!!!! We felt disturbed and called Italu and they claimed that its due to different in the Philips tube and Ballast. But we check further and realised they were exactly the same brands in all other shops. Then Italu claimed they have special 1 year warranty service. Frankly, by then we were very angry with the service and wonder have we been treated like a lamb on the chopping board. And then my ID said that all shops practise different selling tactics, and we should have pressed further for more discounts ??? But I thought she recommended this shop in the 1st place as their pricing was reasonable ? Then she suggest we cancel our order since we are so unhappy and we did ! Later in the night, we went to check out this shop A Lighting Enterprise at Geylang (recommended by someone in renotalk). We gave him the same items and guess what, the quote came up to $1000. If not becos I wanted to use different lightings for my girl's room, we would not have checked out other shops and realised we have been chopped chopped !!!

I kinda lost my trust in my ID now ... :(

Hi, base on your quotation,

Item no.1 should be able to get at $25~$28 (Die-cast aluminum frame)

Item no.2 should be able to get at $18~$22 (Aluminum frame) and $28 (Die-cast aluminum frame)

Item no.3 should be able to get at $140

Item no.4 should be 54" cos Airvac is from Crestar and they don't have 56" unless they give you another fan from Fanco, model FF9 (It look similar to Airvac and is cheaper) Dun get cheated by the look. For Crestar Airvac 54", you should be able to get at $338/set and Fanco FF9 at $310/set... (/set mean include 2ft rod and remote)

Item no.5 should be able to get at $98 (provided not temped glass)

All the above price does not include installation...

Hope this help... :D

Thanks a lot Snow... it really helps..

I just a quotewith the help of my wife's friend.. for item no.3.. i was quoted $78... i was STUNNED.. :bangwall:

My understanding is tat some of ur spending on these lights will go to the ID who does the 'recommendation'. Its lucky you managed to cancel the order
