My Little Home At Tamines

Recommended Posts

Hi I have move in to a 3 room resales flat at Tampines in Oct 08 which is almost two years. Then I did only a few things

1. A system 3 aircon for two bedrooms and the living rooom

2. Two instant water heaters

3. masterbed room toilet bowl

After paying a high COV, I basically have to save up to the renovation. Because I am living in, I have to renovate my home in stages.

The floor plan:

The first stage is the kitichen.

I first posted on the renotalk to seek for any recommendations for the contractor:

After receiving some recommendations, I started to plan for the kitchen

Things to do

1. Sink support area

  • Remove the existing tiles and re-tile to the color of the new cabinets
  • To install stainless rubbish chute below the sink support
  • Install Al swing door with acrylic panels

2. To hack the existing Stove support

3. To change the wall tile on the kitchen entrance

  • To hack away and retile the wall on the kitchen entrance

4. Construct a new fridge base area

5. To install new sliding kitchen door (wooden door with glass)

6. To install new cabinet with ABS trimming and some Al with glass doors on top cabinets with solid surface top.

7. Install two electrical points. (hood and microwave)

It is a simple renovation as I have a limited budget.

After going through the quotes and talking to the contractors

I have finally engaged a company that is relatively new here in renotalk, Senz Contract and Services, Kelvin Lee. Price wise, he is not the cheapest.

My planning :

planning.jpg

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Top cabinet : Al frame with white coloured glass

Base cabinet : White laminated with ABS trimming.

Solid Surface top : black colour

In between the top and base cabinet: Black tone mosaic tiles

Top and bottom of the cabinets - black laminted (top) and black gloss tile at the base of the cabinet.

Sink - retile to black gloss homogenious tiles.

The wall at the enterance needed to retile as the tiles started to drop off. I donot want to retile the whole kitchen walls because of the budget. I still think how to match the old wall tiles in the kitchen.

Top hang sliding kitchen door with half height glass is white color but the design I need to search.

Hood and Hob selection:

My presently gas stove is a single burner tablet top from Ellane. It is from my mother home, she has been using in for many years more than 8 years I think. It automatically ignites the fame and it is still working perfectly after many years of using.

So I decided to stick to the brand that has proved in my view. I know many people are buying Rinnai (hob) and Fujiton (hood).

I have called up the INOS Pte Ltd in www.ellane.com website and talked to Alvin Chan. He is a friendly guy which is very knowledgeable on their products and also he answered my questions on auto-clean, etc..

Finally I decided on this set:

OS-2 (LPG) + EH-2988

os2q.jpg

eh2988.jpg

OS-2 is stainless steel instead of black schott glass because we cook very often and stainless steel is more durable and easy to maintain. It is made in Malaysia.

As for the hood, I decided because of the suction power.

As for the price, I guess it is definately value for money.

I brought it from Poh Joo.

Any comments on the Ellane Hob and Hood are welcome.

My hob and hood also from Ellane

I'm using the same hood as you.

How much they quote you.

As for the hod, I get a 3 burner stainless steel type.

A tips from the Ellane service guy.

For the hood, there are 4 container , right?

put some water inside. So when , oil was collected. You can just throw away the water + oil out easily. The container will not get oily easily

My contractor install my hood wrongly. Not 100% wrong but still wrong.

The Ellane service guy come down and saw my hood.

1st question from him. Who install for you. I reply my contractor.

He say.. wrong liao la. Do you still have the cover?

There is a round cover on the top of the hood. My contractor go and remove it. And luckily they didn't throw away and I keep everything that left behind)

Then while he do the correction, he explain to me.. that round cover is for those round suction that outlet is at the outside the flat one. Unless you had the suction like coffee shop.

Or else don't need to remove it.

And others like..

these also need to remove.

Ai yo, they didn't screw for you. Later you turn on the hood and engine keep turning, hood might move outward and fall on you.

etc etc

Then he polish my hood until mei mei but feel so bad that he cut his finger when doing the polishing.
