dust 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2010 Hi, I just bought a place and my needs are quite simple. I just want to install a ceiling fan and change the lights in my living room. They are now hanging lights. I've been reading the forum and people are saying for a ceiling fan, it might be best to do an L-box for the lights so that there's no flickering. My question now is what do i do first then? Do I go to lighting shops to look at options for lights/fans, would the shops be able to install them for me..or should I go to a contractor to get a quote first before looking for lighting option and if it's an L box then do i even need to go to a light shop or would a contractor be able to do it. Thanks very much for the advice. First time and confused.

Hi, if you are doing minor reno, L-box, false ceilings etc, is best to find the contractor first then when they are doing it, you can go purchase yur ceiling fan, lights then ask the contractor to fix for u.
