Property Tax - Need Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

My 2nd appointment was done on 28 Jan, and we have received a giro form with regards to the property tax.

Can I check,

- Are both my hubby and I supposed to pay the sum ($700+) of property tax EACH?

- When are we supposed to pay?

Thanks!

All we have received so far is the giro letter... So how? Do we request for a statement or something??

Hi,

Property tax is paid once every year in Jan. If not wrong, it's using the annual vaule of your unit. Does not matter who pay, husband or wife as long as someone pays. Through Giro, can go for installment

Breakdown of calculation :

1st S$180,000 - 1% - S$180,000 x 1% = S$1,800

2nd S$180,000 - 2%

Anything after the S$360,000 - 3%

Hope it helps.

Cheers

Singapore's property tax payment is a "pre-paid" system. That is to say, must pay for the whole full year by end of January of that year. However, if payment is by Giro, payer can enjoy up to 12 monthly interest free instalment, deduct on 5th of each month. So you want to pay one lump sum at one-go (pre-paid) or monthly without interest (Giro)?
