Inverter Vs Non Inverter Air Con

Hi,

Recently I got a friend who purchased a brand new Japanese inverter system 3 aircon. Previously he uses a Mcquay Non inverter aircon. He claims that the inverter takes very long time to cool, even though he only turn on 2 out of 3 of the aircon units. Does this applies to all inverter aircon in general?
