L-Box Downlights, Cove Lighting And Ceiling Fan ?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I need help & advice on living hall ceiling deco with cove & ceiling fan. What will be cost? which good deco for red, black & white collect theme ?

Hi christian,

presuming you are talking in the cotext of hdb w low headroom,

1. for the cove lights, i'd recommend you consider to use normal ceiling lights to increase headroom, reduce mainenence cost and save cost on the false ceiling + lighting points. See how so here

2. ceiling fans are always a good investment in hot singapore. For your choice of ceiling fans, see our research work on the various comparison

Hi, yes,, Lbox with downlights + cove lites indeed look weird.. if u hav Lbox around, i would suggest dun install any ceiling fan, as you cant feel the wind at all. i do not know how to explain to u though typing, mayb u can contact mi for more enquires.. fyi, i'm specialise in home lighting and ceiling. previously a ID for 2 years.. hope i am able to help in givin my advise..

Hi Lightshawn, I just got keys to my new apartment and am contemplating the above. My ceiling is already done up with lighting points, so one quick way for me is to just some buy lights & curtains and I can move in. But I have been reading the Philips lighting website and got quite interested in this combination, to create layers of lighting. Also, a slight problem is that the lighting points provided assume a certain furniture configuration, which I can't follow because I have a piano and an extendable dining table, so my dining room light won't be exactly directly above my dining table.

I chanced upon this forum page where someone asked if this combination is weird and your reply. May I know why it affects the wind please?

I have two other questions:

1) what is the minimum thickness for cove lighting, and the width? From the above picture, it looks like it will shorten the ceiling a fair bit, as well as made the ceiling look smaller instead of bigger.

2) my apartment comes with Schneider NEO-X dimmer which is not compatible with Philips LED lighting. The lighting shop said I would have to replace with Philips dimmer, but Schneider said that their dimmer can be converted by an electrician. Would it work with conversion?

Would appreciate your kind advice pls.

Music box, hope you can see this.. How many inches is your ceiling fan? Did it cause flickering shadow when you turn on your Cove lights at the same time? I need some advice on this... Can't imagine lei... =p

It is definitely not weird to have cove lights & fans. I did it for my previous place and my present place.

So long as the down lights are away from the fan, there is no visible flicker. No problem with wind if the cove is sealed.
