Contractor Or Id?

Hi folks,

new here. Just purchased a 4-rm resale flat. Would like to do some simple reno of the whole flat, nothing fanciful, just want a place that is comfortable to stay in.

I have conflicting advise from friends. Some say since I just want some simple standard reno, just go direct to contractor to save on the ID fees. Others say that since it is just simple reno, engaging an ID will not cost much more as ID will usually get better rates from contractors.

Any advice on which route I should take? I should also add that I have a very short time frame of 1 mth for renovation once I collect the keys. This is because I have a specific date to move out from my current place.
