Hdb multi door steps

Hi everyone,

I have shortlisted a resale flat 4A corridor elevated unit... however one thing that bothers me is the door steps.. which is 3 steps.the height is something like those 15cm ruler u use in school.

 

Is it possible to hack away the steps n build a step instead? My elderly parents will be moving in with me... or is it possible to install a handrail right beside of the door steps? 

Anyone had similar or know of similar cases?
