Hi d3n, thanks for these info. Do u mind to share your height and your wife's height? My carpenter said that we are not tall so 86cm standard is good for us. Still considering whether to go with their "standard" cabinet height

my height is 171, wife 165

read from other forum... the forumula is to use your height divide by 2 then + 5cm... so see the shorter of either you two... and use that as the minimum.

last night my neighbour fb me and show me a picture of my place... told me my main door and gate is wide open for 30 mins and no one is around :o immediately called the HDB contractor responsible for laying cement screed and was told his guys went for dinner break... but wah lao u went for dinner break at least close the door or something... if not get one of them to jaga...

anyway i immediately went down to my place to check on the door/gate to ensure its locked properly and also see check on the  progress as well.

First thing I notice was... how come main entrance there had a drop which should not be supposed to as I intend to overlay the vinyl flooring all the way to the main gate... immediately call the HDB contractor and he told me it is like that... the cement screed will expand later to increase the height... hmm not sure if he smoke me or not cos I check with my ID and a few friends who did cement screeding before... all never heard of this... well never mind, tonight I will drop by after work again to check as I could not step into our place since the cement screed is not ready to be step on yet.

IMG_8265.JPG.dc1ea23fecac552a0c59ccdd5ecc7c42.JPG

oddly enough... contrary to what the HDB contractor told me... how come the cement screed is on level with my kitchen tiles then? If it expands... wun it be higher than my kitchen tiles later?

IMG_8260.JPG.42798be62150612ea95aa265415593b0.JPG

The plastic sheets I layed around the wall seems to serve it's purpose... to keep out the cement stains that my neighbours showed me... once the cement screed is ready to be stepped on, will just cut and throw those excess plastic sheets sticking out and I will have very "clean" walls!

Cement screed done!

Turns out the cement screed don't expand... And today the HDB contractor tell me different story say its meant to be like that... Cos of the kitchen tiles height and main door slope got some differences but anyway won't affect cos the vinyl can seamlessly fit into the drop. Which also means my vinyl ends at main door now instead of main gate.

IMG_8284.JPG.f5b0bc052f1875fcb5337b50ea287451.JPG

my id highlighted this issue...

IMG_8296.JPG.67649ae9625b3476138e61bf60d0d171.JPG

Kitchen tiles and cement screed no issue.

Toilet have some issue which the HDB contractor advise me to lodge a 'complaint' to him so he can inform hdb to get bsc to get their contractor to raise my toilet tiles at entrance higher to have the drop for my vinyl to fit in nicely. Currently the level is the same (they cannot drop due to the levelness of the kitchen tiles height). But I will ran into another problem cos if they adjust the toilet tiles height... my toilet door which is already custom made will not fit...

The rest of the cement screed result.
