Advise Needed For Ugly Kitchen Window

Hi peeps.

My resale flat has this window between the dining and kitchen area.

Very ugly right!! The window is gray, the "bartop" is green, the kitchen cabinets are red-brown and the kitchen top is BABY BLUE!!! OMG!

Anyway, please give me ur suggestions for the window.

I cannot seal it due to

1. It makes dining room very dark

2. No matching tiles to patch up the other side (inside the kitchen)

I cannot hack the entire thing away (open concept) due to

1. Want to air con the dining room.

What i propose was

1. Paint the windows brown. Do you think it's possible?

2. Remove the circular carcass. Hack wall to make it rectangular

3. Replace the area with rectangular carcass and fit it with a piece of glass

Do you think it's feasible?

Lastly, the ugly green "bartop"

Can we change the color? Paint over? I think most likely cannot right?

Wonder if it can be removed?

Can i replace with a nicer bar top like a wooden one?

Lastly, what is the weird pole thing with a sphere on top at the left... been trying to figure it out. THanks....

Wah, so many different colours... what was the previous owner thinking??

Like you say, best is to hack into a rectangle opening and replace with glass.. The bar counter sure can hack away one.. if you have money than hack the whole wall away to make an open concept kitchen.. very nice!

That pole with a ball on top looks like an over-sized door stopper... haha

opps, just realized you said cannot have open concept... But still open concept still can have glass wall one mah.. Like that can keep smoke out when cooking but still make your home look big..

hack away lower part (windows) . top part hack. den seal it up to make the bottom part into a rectangle.

Seal up with custom made clear glass to allow sunlight to flow thro.

cheaper than hackin the whole wall and replacing with full glass.

yes ah. i also thought of doing the full glass. however, that will mean "no interaction" between dining and kitchen. and no bar top. but i agree that it's the cheapest option. the only problem is the top part! if I seal it back, there are no matching tiles for the other side (inside the kitchen). How?? any suggestion?

do you think that the sliding windows are worth saving? i thought that if can paint it brown, it will be quite nice?

I think if no budget then paint with a very nice color. I have a wooden frame in between the kitchen & dining area, wanted to hack it but will affect surrounding tiles so I am going to paint to black color to match my color theme.

[actually the windows is quite nice.. jus that the colour is a bit out of place.. mayb u can paint it the same colour scheme as your kitchen.. shd b quite nice.

mayb.. I will remove the existing countertop to make it a bigger one to create bartop feeling..

I think U can paint the window to brown.. what is the material of the window frame?

I believe that the bar top also can b removed as well..

Perhaps U can hire a contractor/ID can ask him what changes U can do to the area..
